"Alcorn State where do I start. At first, I thought this place was going to be great a chance to expand and meet new people. However, it has been a trainwreck. For starters, let's talk about the cafe the food is always the same chicken this or chicken that it gets worse after a few weeks let alone a whole school year. Then ofc there is housing if you plan on leaving here you better get a place off-campus. Bugs in the fridge, fire alarms pulled all hours of the night, no backup power so you can't wash up, a surprising visit from RA's whenever and they will fine you on every little thing just to make money. Let's not forget we as 18+-year-olds have curfews like we don't know when to go to bed. Lastly, the way students are treated is crazy last year alone we had 5 shootings and a snowstorm, and what was the school response do nothing to help students a housing working stopped me in the middle of shooting to ask for Id. I was blown cuz we were hearing shots and that's what you're worried about. In fact, they sweep it under the rug and had a whole event celebrating the principal for something. With the snowstorm, the school had no backup power even after they claimed they have one and students were forced to find ways to eat. Overall don't come or if you do don't live here cuz so much is bad here and the school hides it"

  • Degree: Biology
"Alcorn is a very diverse school even though it's an Hbcu with a very lively campus . The biology departments has an array of Nationally known as well as internationally known professors. And that always give you more than enough info in each class. On each level they push you to better yourself and they keep an overall positive environment for learning."

  • Degree: Communications
"Alcorn gave me the opportunity to enter into the word of work with a very good foundation in Mass Communication. This degree aided me in being able to go into the public health field where I specialized in STD/HIV/AIDS education, prevention and research. That degree enabled me to work contractually with federal entities specific to the HIV pandemic in surrounding states. The program at Alcorn teaches you the importance of speaking, speech and being able to present yourself on and off camera. 6 months after I finished at Alcorn in 1995 I was hired at our rival school Jackson State University. Specifically to run a STD/HIV/AIDS program for college men and women."

"Full of History and Beauty, Alcorn State University is a wonderful university to attend. Its the college to attend if you want to learn more, do more, and be more than they every thought the could. It also a good place to meet nice people, join many different clubs, and get to really learn from your professors."
