YES, AIU is accredited. Would I have rather attended a ground campus and gotten a "REAL" college experience, yes; however, since I waited until I was in my 30s to go back to college, I don't think this option would have worked itself into my "family of seven" and "70+ hour a week job" lifestyle, and unless my soon-to-be Bachelors in Information Technology helps me to develop a working time machine to go back to my high school days and start over again, then I am content with the online format.
The accelerated program is not for the faint of heart or those with a schedule like mine; if you are wondering why graduation rates at AIU are low, it's probably because those particular students couldn't hack it. I did not come back to college expecting it to be easy, however; I came back to get my degree because I want a better life for myself and my family, so I deal with the pressure and don't blame the school because I am the one who messes up if I fail to accept my commitment to my education.
As a reward for my perseverance, in just five more courses I expect to graduate with a perfect 4.0 (as long as I don't flub any assignments!!!). I have had a few teachers I personally felt could have done a better job, and I only rated the job placement services low and stated the degree has not helped my career because I have not graduated and had a chance to use them yet, but otherwise the experience has been great.
Maybe your situation is different and this school would not be a good fit for you, but as far as I'm concerned the quality of the education is on par with anywhere else I might have chosen to attend so the experience has been right for me. So if you're on the fence about going back to school and interested in taking online courses that won't interrupt your current lifestyle, take heart in knowing that AIU is definitely worth considering, good luck in your future studies, and God bless!
I have to say that I am reading some very good things on here about the school, and a few not so good. I just graduated in December 2012 with an AABA from AIU Online. I am now enrolled in the Bachelor's program. I will tell you this, although the online school is more expensive than the traditional classroom setting, it is worth every penny. Furthermore, this is a serious school, no scams whatsoever.
It would seem to me that the people that are complaining are the individuals that just could not give 110%. It is not easy, trust me. I work 13 hours a day with swing shifts and I made it with honors. I rated the job placement lower simply because I have not had the opportunity to utilize them so I cannot give a good rating to something I have not utilized.
It is however true, you will see many students that cannot use grammar correctly or formulate a sentence. However, you must remember that many of these students are from other countries and their engish skills are not up to par. It doesn't mean they do not deserve to receive their diplomas. You can graduate quickly by going the accelerated route completing 9.0 credit hours every 5 weeks. You should actually give AIU Online a chance, only if you are serious about your education.
This school has the worst financial aid specialist available. They take 10 weeks to finish your award and at the end the end up screwing it again. Will not recommend this school. Teachers are good though and student adviser try to do their job at their best.
This school was the worst I ever attended. At the beginning AIU was there to support me with any issue that arises. Towards the end the professors started to not teach you the topics that were assigned.
I don't know if AIU has got new administration but their values and morals have changed. I am not the only person that I know that has had issues lately.
I would never recommend this school to anyone. When you do have an issue and you try to find the correct answer no one has the same answer. It's always the run around.
Though they have had challenges related to maintaining accreditation in the past, the instructor and content was quality. The courses were challenging and are applicable to the workplace.
I read all of these bad reviews and thought I would post mine as well. Ok. When I first started this school I was so nervous that the degree I was getting was not accredited. It is. You get out of it what you put in. I have read things from people saying that the program that is not challenging enough. This was from people who only attended a month or a class. I realize there are many different places to attend college online now. To be honest they are all different. You have to find the college that is right for you. AIU was right for me.
And since they are accredited it made sense for me to go. I am going to encourage others I know who are almost finished with their degrees to review this school. Most of the time the only people who feel the need to "review" are those who were not happy with their experiences.
Please don’t base your decision by what others have posted here. Base it on the schools credentials. All of this being said I like AIUONLINE. I am very proud to say that in about 4 more months I will have my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration concentration: HR.
Find the school that is right for you. At the end of the day the only thing that will matter is that you are getting your degree from an accredited school.
I'm 21 and have my bachelors. This school was very convenient for me compared to community colleges I previously attended. The classes are helpful to your desired career choice. They don't take long at all 5 weeks no test or quizzes you interact with other students and teachers in every class. It's just like being at a campus but much easier and faster you have all your assignments for the length of the class so if I want u can complete them all at once. This requires much individual effort if u procrastinate u can fall behind but at least you know when everything is due.
The only thing I didn't like was sometimes the group projects could be a little hectic trying to get everyone on the same schedule. They have their own library and even tutoring you can enroll in. I had a great experience and not only that while my peers whom I graduated high school with are still in school on campus I am a whole 2 years ahead of them.
I really enjoyed my time at AIU online. The teachers were wonderful. You could tell that they were truly experts in their field. I went through most of my classes with a few of the same students and even though we were online we were able to form some pretty good friendships.
The quality and content of classes was great. The only complaint I have is that if I want to take extra classes beyond my original degree requirements they consider me a non degree seeking student. That means that I wouldn't be eligible for the GI Bill. There are several classes I want to take, but I just can't afford it without the GI Bill money.
As of now I have not graduated yet but I am so glad I finally made the decision to go with AIU online the teachers are awesome the student adviser's are there for you and they always want to help you achieve your goal I can' believe I did it!!!
WHAOW! This University is really the best amongst the best, they have such excellent support system from the Enrollment Adviser to the Student Advisor and Course Instructors. The faculty staff is always ready to provide support at anytime within 24 hours as soon as you contact them.
Their courses are so well structured in such a way that they follow their policies strictly. The fees are on the high side but its actually very ok for the quality. They also offer you multiple payment options which are install-mental and also they link you with so many funding and scholarship support and organizations. They have so much great course materials, recorded sessions, great online library plus others, I believe they have really come a long way in delivering the BEST this time.
I am a 1st Year Bachelors student in IT, and I am enjoying this school so much that I recommend it best to my friends. The courses and assignments are not that easy, but its good because it makes me sit up to study and work on them diligently; They fight Plagiarism 100% so there is no way to cheat.
