Bellevue University Reviews
Student & Graduate Reviews (46)
I enrolled to Bellevue University only because I wanted to get my Bachelor Degree as quick as possible. Before the enrollment my advisor sent me an unofficial evaluation which required me to complete 49 credits to get my degree. And she promised me that my official evaluation was not going to be any different than the one she sent me. After a month of my enrollment my advisor asked me to chek my official evaluation on the schools website. My 49 credits was now 78 credits plus i was required to take Kirk Patrick Series. I spoke to the president of the University, but she was not helpful at all. I dropped my enrollment after taking my first class and now i got excessive amount of charges on my Federal loans. My suggestion for the people who still wants to study at Bellevue University after reading my review. Make sure you get your official evaluation. Always try to contact them through email. So, you have a written proof of what they promised you just incase if you need to hire a lawyer.
Communication is almost non existent at this school. You are assigned an advisor who will likely not return your calls or emails. The "professors" have very little to no real life experience and therefore you spend your time reading text, participating in half hearted "discussions" which are actually responses to another student's post in a forum. Thankfully, I had over 10 years of real life experience in this field before I began taking classes at Bellevue as I literally learned nothing. My classmates were frustrated at the lack of quality instruction. The "professor" remained the same for all of the HR classes, which was both strange and of no benefit. She was extremely unorganized and unknowledgeable. Her grading system was all over the place and many of my classmates (and myself) sent her emails multiple times a week pointing out inconsistencies and issues. Had I not been so close to achieving my degree I would have left much earlier. My advice is to avoid Bellevue and find another quality institution.
I enjoyed my time at Bellevue a great deal. I had good instructors; but as with any school, some will be more engaging than others. I thought the level of expectation was appropriate for graduate level work, and the tuition to be reasonable. I'm not certain that the program does a great job of preparing the student for a career in coaching, but the leadership theory was excellent.
I attended the college and obtained an MS in Security Management. It was to most challenging program I had ever experienced. The workload was a lot but it challenged me and I learned a great deal about a field I had been in for over 15 years. Everyone I come into contact with in the Faculty and staff were extremely helpful. Since graduating I received and took a position as a VP of Security and have been in the position for almost 4 years. This was the greatest investment I made in my future.
I would NEVER refer this college to ANYONE! This college is RIP OFF! They take your money and run with it. I received a BS degree in BS literally! I was a great student all As and Bs. I had a referral letter for a job in which I thought was going to be my big shot in my career. HA! The funding was cut after I was there a year and Bellevue has a place you can go to get help finding a job. Yeah, I went there, GOT ZERO HELP! What this college fails to tell you is a degree in Behavioral Science GOES NOWHERE!!!! HIGH SCHOOL KIDS CAN DO MY JOB I BUSTED MY A** TO LEARN TO DO!!!!! AND they get paid the same! I was also in the clinical counseling graduate program. WHAT A JOKE! SAME professor as my undergraduate degree. Are you serious?? that should have been a red flag! Well, after about a year or so into the Counseling program I get a job interview and at a well known place known for counseling. She looks at my resume and she sees I graduated from Bellevue, and that I am still attending Bellevue, and this is where my hours would be coming from. Do you know what this lady said to me? She said Bellevue is not an accredited college or a college we like to accept good qualified candidates from. I showed my professor he basically said yeah well its true. I decided right then and there I AM OUT OF HERE! I talked to my advisor and told her that I was going to leave the program. She told me when the appropriate time to leave was. I left, and I got a bill in the mail for $411.00!! for my student loans coming back unpaid for the semester, I called Bellevue and they told me its what I owe for skipping out half way through the semester! I DIDNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called that damn place a 100 times. NO HELP! THEY LIE and they cover there asses and mess up your life! I have been trying to get into nursing school for TWO YEARS!! Just waiting on Bellevue's transcripts! The college I am trying to attend says this is exactly the kind of BS we have heard from our students who were former students or students looking at Bellevue!!! RUN RUN FAR AWAY! ITS A SCAM AND ITS NOT A DEGREE YOU CAN DO SHIT WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUN! EVEN IN SCHOOL THE PROFESSOR DID NOTHING! WE READ OUR BOOKS AND WE TALKED ABOUT IT IN CLASS!! NOT WORTH RUINING YOU LIFE! NOT EVEN A ONE STAR!
Expensive, predatory, not military friendly! I got stuck in transit on the way home from a deployment and could not attend classes for almost a month. After several attempts, I was not able to retake the courses or have the classes refunded, but they finally dropped the failing grades. I was 3 classes from my degree so I reenrolled. I got to my last class and they informed me that they changed their mind and I now I had 3 more classes.
This is an awesome school and personally my journey here was smooth sailing. Like all schools each professor is different and some challenge you more than others. I feel that I learned a lot from my time here and plan on starting my masters with them shortly.
Excellent MBA with a decent price. Prepared me exceptionally well for transitioning from the military (Air Force). Courses were relevant to the real world and allowed me to directly apply classroom learning to "live" projects at work. I have since been accepted into a nationally respected Ph.D.
I applied for Bellevue and sent the transcripts they requested except 1 that I couldn't obtain. I had 1 transcript from when I attended college overseas that I couldn't get and they wouldn't work with me. So they decided to withdraw my enrollment. The worst part...there were 2 colleges I attended that wasn't on the list! My previous one which included my undergraduate degree and the very first college which I had a lot of transfer credits in. This college wont work with you and any issues that you may have come up, you're on your own. I'm thankful for this experience as it shows the true character of the school and the potential nightmare to come.
This is my second degree at this school at a masters level. After arranging my internship with CHI, the biggest healthcare provider in the state I was told by the school that they don't work with CHI. This is a relationship I've fostered with the leader in this career field for the purpose on educating myself and I was denied the opportunity to work with them. I of course was waiting for some explanation that would point out a difference in phylosophies or a need for the university to hold to some obligation with chi that it was unwilling to do. Imagine my surprise when it basically boiled down to they were unwilling to receive and sign off on the fact that I was current on my physical and shots. Yes, signing a form and faxing was too much for the counseling career department. Shame on you Bellevue! This is the job that your educating people for. You're supposed to be educating and encouraging and your road blocking. You've left a bad taste in my mouth and those in my network. I'll be beyond glad to recommend any of the other schools in the area throughout my career, excluding you. Others would have jumped at the opportunity to work with the leading medical provider in the region. Your response? They aren't good enough for Bellevue
