"I loved this masters program. It worked for me because it allowed me to finish within a year while including an experience abroad. My year spent a wonderful week learning about the culture and talking to real businesses about how we believed they could improve. I would recommend it to anyone of my close friends."

  • Degree: Nursing
"CSU Long beach nursing program is a fantastic program which was the reason why I received my Bachelor's and Master's degree from there. Their teachers are ever ready to assist you with any problem or assistance you may have. Their BSN program is structured according to your academic pace, e.g they have a two year trimester program for those who desire to go on a faster track and a three year generic program. Due to how much I love their program, my sister is currently a pre-nursing major hoping to get into their BSN program. Al. T. is their graduate program coordinator who is great at what she does. She is so helpful in providing any information you may need and will go extra mile to obtain any information she doesn't know. Getting your clinical verification and other documents from any school may be a hassle after you graduate, but with Alison, you do not have to worry as she will meet any deadline you have interns of getting your paper work and promptly faxing or mailing it to you. I highly recommend the school for aspiring nurses."

"Great on campus program. It definitely prepares you for real RN situations. Clinical rotations relevant with lots of hands on experience. Instructors willing to help. A wide range of nursing students attended, for example, there were students who were coming from a community college, and lots of students were older in age."

"The program is great and they are very well connected in the sports industry. Be prepared to network because you are going to meet some of the best in the sports world! You only meet for class 1/2 times a week but don't let that fool you. Classes move quickly so you always have something to work on."

"The faulty at Cal State University, Long Beach are foremost practicing artists. The quality and in-site of the professors is remarkable. Their ability to provide thought provoking questions, and encourage risks in a secure setting for personal growth and advancement is exceptional. Fellow students are a supportive close group due to the intimate size of the graduate program."

  • Degree: Gerontology
"Being in the gerontology has been a truly positive experience. I have made so many friends and grain so many skills being in this program. I have discovered that this is my passion and my hopes of being in the field was realized. The profession know you by first name and the class size is always small so you can get a real education. They will help you step by step with your thesis and you will make everlasting friends. More people should considered being a gerontology at CSULB."

"My college is a commuter school so be prepared to have a more difficult time making new friends because dorm space is limited. You can make a great number of friends but you'll have to work harder than at a traditional school where everyone lives on campus."

"CSULB is known as a commuter school. Students from the LA area drive to school on a daily basis, making it a bit difficult to meet people at first unless you join an organization, then it's easy to meet people with similar interests. As far as the classes go for mechanical engineering, I feel as though they helped prepare me for my career and in preparing me for grad school in the near future. I enjoyed my time and experience at CSULB and would definitely recommend it."

  • Degree: Public Administration
"The pros of this graduate program are that there is a variety of courses to take and learn from. The quality of education is impeccable. Teachers are well-qualified, interested in students well being, and program is well organized. Overall, I learned an extensive amount of information regarding public administration and government processes. The cons were that the school did not offer day time hour classes which I would have to loved to take."

"One of the pros of my graduate program is its reputation and good relationship with other community agencies around the area. Another one is that the staff and professors are very supportive and knowledgeable. One of the cons is lack of financial aid for graduate students."

  • Degree: Counseling
"There are quite a few pros to the program of school counseling at CSULB. First, I love the unity of our cohort. The program is designed so that you take the same classes as your peers, which gives students the ability to build relationships with people that have similar goals. Second, the program advisor places students for fieldwork at school sites that are willing to hire once the fieldwork is over. This is great since job availability is low and competitive. A few cons are that there is very little room for options in your class schedule, parking is a 15-20 minute walk to class, and the program is expensive as it is at all other Cal State School graduate programs."
