"The Communication Studies Department of CalState LA is the known as the most supportive, most social, and active department in the campus. The Comm students support one another, and there is unity and with all students. One of the most things that I love about the Comm Program is that the department ensures all students get the classes that they needed, and for any special circumstances, the department find ways to accommodate those students (e.g. by creating classes, or increasing class capacity). The Communication program is rigorous, and with some courses that exceeds standards. This also means, many students find the nature of the classes to be difficult. The department knows this, and is prepared to help students in need by providing office hours meetings, setting up groups, and communicating in emails as needed. I succeeded in my Capstone thanks to the help of the Comm professors, and fellow Comm majors. The only thing I would wish is to have more field, or practical experience related courses since Communication is a very high demand program in Los Angeles for businesses. Other than that, I am pleased with my experience and I highly recommend the Communication Studies program at Cal State LA."

"I am blessed to get an opportunity to study at CSULA where it had given me many chances to explore my career, meet other people and share the diversity of cultures. I was and still am grateful for what I had received from CSULA. It had challenged me to strife for the best. I am thankful for this encouragement. Thank you!"

"Cal State LA is an extremely diverse campus and I love that! Any race or ethnicity you can think of, Cal State LA has it. It is a great campus to network in and learn about other cultures. The professors are top-notch and most are current in their field. Most professors are more than happy to help you with any questions you may have. The campus also has a great food court. Overall, I would definitely recommend this campus!"

"I attended California State Los Angeles University from 2009- 2012. I found their program to be concise and informative. The professors are very caring and involved with the students. The curriculum is organized and consistent. They have classes that start early in the afternoon and end in the early evening. The students appreciated being there and the collaboration that was provided. I would recommend this school to anyone pursuing a graduate degree in education."

"I attended CSULA as an undergrad previously, and obtained my BA in communication studies. The education I received and diversity of instructors, as well as students, made me love this school. This is more of a commuter university, so if you're looking for the typical "college experience" with parties and such then I would not recommend this school; this is one main reason I loved CSULA. Students here are there to learn and receive an education. The professors were well versed in their subjects and were typically published or working towards that goal. Being surrounded by motivated and dedicated individuals pushes you to do your best. Communication studies as an undergraduate major really helped to prepare me for any career. Now, I hav returned to CSULA as a graduate student in pursuit of my MS in Healthcare Management. I have 2 classes left before I finish and I must say it has been challenging but having completed this goal is a great achievement. The masters program at CSULA is geared towards working individuals. This is great because the classes are all at night, so if you do work full time, then you can still obtain your masters! The only downfall is that there is an additional "professional program" fee that almost doubles the cost of the program. This was a huge set back for me and many others that were not anticipating this. The program is not an MBA but a MS, yet it charges students to be part of the professional business program. Irregardless, I feel the education received here has been well worth it and cost far less than private universities in the surrounding LA area. The professors in this program are established within the healthcare field and they all have years of experience. This program is a great way to connect with professionals who may be able to get you in the door somewhere if you are not already employed within healthcare. Typically, they require 2 years of experience before applying. This means you are surrounded by other professionals who are passionate about the same field as you. It really is an outstanding program."

"The Social Work graduate program at Cal State LA provided me with comprehensive preparation for my career. I received the perfect combination of in-class instruction along with field experience. Not only did classes include information about working one on one with people, but also included classes about changing policy and administering social programs. When i graduated, I had clear awareness about what social justice really means. What i enjoyed the most about my experience at Cal State La, however, was the relationships I made with fellow students and professors alike. Graduate school is difficult journey, but having amazing people to embark on the journey with makes it that much more rewarding. I have great relationships with many of my professors, and they have empowered me to recognize my own expertise as a scholar. i look forward to one day becoming a professor at Cal State LA and helping others to discover and develop their own expertise."

"Pros: Affordability. Diversity. Committed faculty and staff. Balanced instruction on micro and macro practice. Great place to connect with others in the field of social services in LA. Offers 2-yr and 3-yr programs. Cons: I can't think of any big Cons."

"There were a lot of students taking the ABA certificate and not enough professors. The professors that were there were either ill or on a leave for a year. It was very touch and go for a while and not a whole lot of support."

"I feel that the cons of this program is the scheduling and days available for classes as well as the required units per quarter/semester. Also One of the pros of this program is that the professors are very helpful and knowledgeable on the subject. Another pro of this program is the affordability compare to other social work programs."

"Pros: CSULA is a nationally known and well-acclaimed school in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Their graduate nursing program is one of the top programs in the United States and is well-respected among the healthcare community. The program is quite competitive to get into, and gives me the confidence that I am receiving the best education with only the brightest colleagues. The faculty are extremely supportive and always pushing students to only grow professionally and personally. The graduate program offers both full and part-time pathways to accommodate your working schedule as well. I want my future NP career to be able to provide for the underserved community, and CSULA allows me to do so. Cons: I would say is clinical placement. Initially, it would be the students responsibility to find preceptors for clinical rotations; and this would be difficult especially for students, like myself, who do not know many NPs who work out in the community. However, recently, our school has hired a clinical placement coordinator who has made students' lives easier by helping find placement. Also, the location of CSULA is not in the safest part of LA. However, campus security does provide assistance to your car if one should feel unsafe."

"I really respect and admire most of my professors and I made many great friendships at CSULA. Sadly, I must say the university had a serious problem with over-accepting incoming freshmen. It seems that every year all everyone could talk about was how classes were impossible to get into and there was just not enough parking for everyone. I hate to say this, but it is likely many did not return for sophomore year because they felt like getting through their program was virtually impossible with the overpopulation on campus."

"My name is Zachary, age 26. I went to the University Of Los Angeles, as do I live in LA with my husband and 2 children. College was a great experience and huge help financially and logically. It is great that I get to help people with their oral care, as I am a dentist. College was a great place to meet new friends, as I met my husband there who is now a meteorologist. College let's everyone learn things at a level you've never experienced before. It is a huge honor to be in college, any type. I got my Master's Degree in Dentistry Oral Hygiene. I graduated early for being extremely intelligent and knowing so much, for I always studied and worked my hardest. I am currently working my way up the dentistry career ladder to an even higher rate of success. College will forever and always change your life, how you and the people you care about live it. It is a life-changing experience that holds the only future for you and your family."

This is my second semester in Grad school and i have not had any problems thus far. I don't have any cons to report at this time. Thank you allowing me to share and thank you for your attention."

"California State University Los Angeles has more pros than cons, the engineering and technology department is the best department on campus. Trouble with an application the secretary (for the Electrical Engineering department) will help you. The instructors are great, encouraging and knowledgeable. The campus it's self and accessiblity by public transportation is simple, I've been taking the MTA for my undergraduate and currently for my graduate program. It's quick and easy, no a lot of wait time bc there are different bus lines going through the University. Cons, well con, would be the fact that Friday's the campus food court and university book store closes early. It's a reasonable bc not many students are on campus and if they are it's probably an engineering student catching up on homework and studying. Overall this campus is great, I was not a fan at first but the faculty and staff make it worth the commute. The classmates I have befriended have made the campus a second home, I look forward to continuing my education at the home of the Golden Eagles."
