"I am a 3rd term nursing student at the Reno campus that is about to go into their 4th term and am beyond disappointed with this school. They cannot keep staff, having lost most of their good academic faculty over the last few years to TMCC and UNR. What students are left with is a school that is nothing like the one Carrington used to be in 2015, possibly earlier. The dean jumped ship, along with multiple firings in the administration that have left positions open and the administration extremely short-staffed. I have a friend who went here and graduated in late 2014, and she doesn't know ANY of the teachers now except some of the general education teachers and 1 nursing instructor. The general education instructors were good and comparable to the UNR instructors I had for general education courses. The nursing instructors are terrible. This is coming from someone who has straight A's and isn't writing an angry review due to low grades. They are genuinely bad and if the terrible instruction doesn't have you failing on its account, it will at the very least cause you much needless suffering. Imagine an environment where teachers can't get fired or reprimanded for even the most serious instruction and professionalism issues. Imagine the type of issues this would bring to the company in the long-run, like harboring terrible instructors and disgusting culture. This is what is happening with the Reno Carrington campus nursing program. The campus started having serious issues, many if not all of the good instructors left, and now almost only the bad are left and the dean cannot afford to let any of them go. To sum up the academic faculty culture: lab instructors are unsafe and have caused multiple accidents this semester alone (during one unsafe act I saw a lab instructor cause an acidic solution to fly into a students eyes that caused the student to have burning eyes the whole night. when she documented it she never wrote she did it, according to the student. This kind of lack of integrity is commonplace here.), nursing academic faculty are rarely prepared, do not communicate with their students well, and show such a level of disorganization in their class structure that I often wonder if some of these 65+ year old instructors have dementia (people make mistakes and are sometimes unprepared, but coming to class late and forgetting what is assigned to be done that day while class is going isn't right and students paying $50k+ deserve better). I could write quite a lot more about the issues with this program, but I just want to instead sum it up by saying this: I am sure people look into this college because it is a 2-year program and TMCC/other colleges are harder to get into. I would STRONGLY suggest first trying to get into ANY other 2-year option for your Reno nursing academic needs, as I am very sure no other school will have issues quite as severe as the Reno Carrington campus currently does for their nursing program. I am already looking for my potential to transfer next term to another school if possible."

"I went to this school and its THE worst of the worst. The staff, the program, the classes. Honestly they just want your money & wont speak to you unless youve paid. Terrible communication and unwilling to respond to questions. The teachers made me cry literally almost everyday. They are critical, mean, and pushy. They wont assist you in clinic and will sit in the middle of the room and gossip the whole time. Its an aweful environment if youre falling behind even slightly a little. Concerning finances, Its taken me over 3 months to get a hold of somebody. They also charged me for semesters I didnt attend. Hardly ANY of my credits transferred and I already had a previous degree. They dont tell you this, but you have to have a 75 or higher in your classes and wont tell you until youve signed papers. And then once youre a senior you have to get a 90 to pass. If youre considering coming to the school, I would NOT recommend it. Find somewhere else"

"This review is based on the Mesquite Campus. Save your money and time!!!! The instructors are horrible their way of lecturing is to read word per word from the book. To begin with one of the instructors for Med Surg is just plain rude and talks down to people. We have spoken to dean about her behavior and lack of knowledge and nothing was done. You do not learn a thing as they do not know how teach but as a student you are automatically supposed to know enoough to pass a HESI after each semester. How we all asked each other if we have not learned a thing this semester. For each class you are supposed to read around 10 chapters because you will have test over them the following week. That is around 30 chapters a week that you wil be tested on , and impossible to learn of off. The test are another thing they are not based on the material you have read so they are NCLEX type questions they say! Then why not teach us the correct way afterall we are here to learn. Horrible Horrible Horrible RUN RUN RUN.... I know that you get drawn into a school that says you can earn your ADN in 2 years or less but at this school you will not. Do your research for this school before coming here."

"I have been done with the in-class portion now, going on 5 weeks... STILL waiting for an externship site. I was told that this is due to low census, but it's BS because I'm also attending a different School for nursing, and nurses that work in the field say otherwise. I tried calling around myself to find an extension site, and they stopped taking student requests 4 years ago, and it's up to the school to do it. Carrington College sounded like a great idea, and promised me a course that would be 3 months long. That 3 month mark is next week, and I still have to complete 100 hours and 100 "sticks" in a clinical setting. I do not recommend this school. They charged me over $100 for administrative free, and among other free, I was also charged over $600 for the externship, which they are currently 4 & 1/2 weeks behind. Very unprofessional."

"I strongly suggest you guys look elsewhere. This school is very unprofessional & unorganized. The instructors aren't even intelligent nor have the correct degree to teach a course. They expect you to read 10 chapters on one week & quiz you over 10 questions, like who does that? The professors just read PowerPoints from word to word and don't even hesitate to actually teach us the chapter. The front desk lady is very unprofessional & rolls her eyes when we ask for a certain staff. Point blank period they are just trying to take your money."

"This is very discouraging and disappointing. There has been a huge turnover in staff, and even a new dean was assigned. The program isn't well organized and structured. The students aren't tutored one on one and instead have been given links to self teach themselves. Just because you have a degree it doesn't mean you know how to teach someone. There are majority of students failing in the 5th, 4th, and 3rd semester with the same instructor, and nothing is being done. What is the reason majority of the class isn't passing? Apparently the syllabus aren't being revised to make sure that it's appropriate. Instead we are told that we aren't studying. This has been very stressful and corporate hasn't done anything to help at all. This feels like a scam. To retake a semester is very costly and doubles. We are in high amounts of debt and instead of helping us we are being let go. How do you expect your school to be successful when you won't help your students out? They are so quick to get you enrolled but afterwards they don't care. RN is a lot of hard work and dedication but it isn't impossible. I've compared the program with other friends that have graduated from other Nursing Programs in DFW area, and they all have mentioned that they are making us go through a unnecessary hard time. You should be trying to help us not want us to fail. All of us sacrifice time, money, and family time to attend to school and to have this happen is unacceptable. They then wonder why we won't show up to a parade to assist or participate. For ONE, since clinicals were unorganized and started really late now we have additional hours we have to put in while were in the middle of HESI testing and finals. Two, why would we promote something that has been a negative experience and would want someone else to go through the same trouble, and debt. How do they want us to pass when we aren't being taught how it should be. Please don't waste your time and money. The NCLEX passing rate is low, lets look at the bigger picture... why?..."

"This is review is based soley on attending the Mesquite, TX location. This is plenty wrong with this school and not exactly sure where to start. The main problem is that there are teachers who are not knowledgeable in the subject that they are teaching. Just because you are a nurse doesn't mean that you have teaching skills. Our med surg teacher is a first time teacher and because of that our grades suffered. Once the Dean was notified of how this same teacher talked to us, the unfair punishments she gave out, and the horrible test that she gave, the dean did nothing about it. 80% of the students are failing in the 3rd and 4th semesters there. The dean is saying that students aren't studying. If this amount of students are failing then something is wrong with the school. The only thing the students can do is repeat the same semester over and pay another $10,000 and hope they pass or they will be kicked out of the school. Beware because this location is currently under review by the state because of very low NCLEX pass rates. Keep your stress low and money in your pockets. Just try to get into a public college so you don't have to deal with these private schools."

"Horrible mistake attending this school! Graduating nursing student passing rates for NCLEX are extremely poor. Instructors are really clinical nurses that have little experience in teaching academically. The students cannot comprehend the material because the instructors are learning the material themselves. Majority of the students are barely passing due to poor teaching and have to self-teach one another. The dean seems to not have a control over the program and not even care that the student is struggling greatly, low morale, and poor class averages. Students are going to tutoring, group studies, and using outside sources to try to maintain to no avail. As a nursing student, I would never recommend anyone to join a program of this poor caliber. It's too expensive and not enough student support. The way the nursing program courses are designed clearly wasn't thought out and not designed with the student best interests at heart. This program can easily turn into a money pit! Statistically wise I don't see this program excelling are lasting too much longer. The grace period the Texas Board of Nursing issued to get scores above 80% is running out of time. This program has NEVER been over or even close to the 80% that is required to deemed an established RN program."

"Fast and to the point certification but half a**** lessons learned. The school spoon feeds you the answers to pass the tests and doesnt focus on actually learning to understand the concept. Also, reading 10 textbook chapters per week on average isnt practical for most people to retain the information read. Iv been a cna for 8 years, and am scared to death, having graduated from the medical assisting program april 2017, to start working as a medical assistant. I feel extremely unprepared and iv been in this field for a while."

"First mistake is doing the VND here, You are locked into them for the RN. A real lack of accountability by all staff from counseling to instructors. Poor class planning with little instruction, gets worse in the RN program. Classes are run in a constant state of chaos. This College has market cornered in the area, competition is needed to force the College to improve."

"I made the mistake of thinking this would be easy online. It wasn't. The exams were a joke because I was given several books and then the instructor said I was using the wrong book or not in the right category even when I had the same questions for hw and I was getting 100s. The instructor was based out of AZ where the time change is only an hour ahead. There has also been an issue of after withdrawing within three weeks they continue to send me bills saying I owe them $ 202.49. For what?? I owe them nothing!! I filed a Ripoff Report and hope they are sued."

"Do not go here, I thought when I first signed up and seen all the bad reviews that it was simply from lazy students that were unable to pass the course, but the horror stories are true. The staff is incompetent, rude and demeaning. I am a smart, focused, hard working student and have never been put in such a bad situation. I completed the program by the grace of god, but only half of the students that started the program were able to complete it. Just ask any current student how they feel about the program and you can get an idea of what you will be getting yourself into. The staff can not even stand it, teachers were continuously quitting and it was a very unstable environment. Consider yourself warned."

"Carrington college looks only to take money from students..horrible college they cost way more than regular school because they are a private college. Sure it's a short course I mean who doesn't want to get a job right away without having have to go through all those years of college? But in reality it doesn't pay off because you are learning all the medical stuff in a short 9 months and they don't teach you everything you need to know more like less than half. I took the MA program and they refused to let me take the CMA exam after I finished the course and graduated because I didn't "pay them a left over balance of 17000 dollars" and I had no job at the time. I tried to get loans to try to pay the balance and they just had no empathy or care if weather or not I had the money they wanted it paid now in full balance. My suggestion to anyone thinking of going, I'd say look else where. It's not worth the debt or "education" from them."

"I attended Carrington College from October 2014 through June 2015 and I have a laundry list of complaints from my experience. First, the enrollment process was a joke. While processing my enrollment, Carrington College and its employees continued to lose all crucial documents that included my High School diploma, Associate's Degree, and my VA Education awards letter. In all, I submitted these documents more than twice and had to take the proactive steps required to ensure I was ready for the first day of class. However, after the first module, I was informed they were again missing and was threatened to be dropped from the program unless they had the documents the next business day. Second, the Pharmacy Director and my instructor were not helpful during the duration of the course. On a weekly basis, we (the students) were required to take quizes and tests that encompassed material from that week. However, the test standards differed from one instructor to the next as one class had a test on 50 medications while another test consisted of only 10. When confronted with these complaints regarding testing standards, my instructor's response was that it was based on the teaching styles of that certain instructor. Furthermore, the weekly lectures and course materials consisted more of a high school health class information than actual pharmacy technician information. My teacher taught us pharmacy math using the allegation matrix; the only math she taught the entire 9 months. There were a few students that had to self-teach the other pharmacy math that ended up teaching the course's math criteria when the instructor was not aware as to how it was supposed to be done. The course material is a fly-by-night agenda that included us being tested on the movie "A Beautiful Mind" because the teacher thought it to be a great idea though we were learning about the digestive system. Prior to the course completion, the Career Services representatives were in comparison to a gnat buzzing around your face for 9 months straight. Our program's rep, Sam, came into the classroom almost twice per week to bug students about their Pharmacy Technician training license, to inform of missing documents (see aforementioned comment regarding that), and/or to inform of missing tuition payments. Approximately one month prior to externship, I completed my resume and necessary documents in which I was almost held back from starting externship because Sam could not find my file. After resending all documentation, because this school's and my military experience taught me to always retain a copy of documents, I was able to start on time. Continuing on, my externship was unsatisfactory on many levels. My instructor attempted to have me extern at the Banner Estrella campus; however, she was unaware of the requirements that were necessary to be completed prior to starting the externship which had to be completed months in advance. Due to this, I was reassigned to a privately-owned community pharmacy because she knew the owner/Pharmacist. On my first day, I was told by the pharmacist that he typically does not take externs due to their short tenure, was not enthused that I was a male, and that I had a very minimal chance of being hired on post-externship. However, I did not let that affect my ability to perform as I left with positive reviews despite not being offered a position. Last, but certainly not least, the administrative staff, financial aid department, and event he Dean were by far the most unprofessional staff I have ever came across. Prior to externship, I was informed that I was billed a $65 "lab fee" because they required student portal access during the course of my externship and the VA would not cover it due to it being billed post-acceptance into the program. I attempted a rebuttal to the charge in which I was told that there was nothing Carrington could do. Also, during the course, there were instances of student fights and a student's psychotic episode that required the Dean's involvement. Instead, she sent a representative on her behalf and had zero presence in the classroom or during the program. Students attempted to setup confrences with the Dean that gone unscheduled and were informed the Dean had more pressing matters. Prior to starting the enrollment process, I attempted to contact the school for Pharmacy Tech and X-Ray Tech program information; a request that did not receive an answer. I should have taken that as a red flag but needed to look at a post-military career and Carrington seemed like a decent school. As a Veteran, I am highly disappointed that my GI Bill funded this school. I was treated more as a number and paycheck for the school than as a student... which says a lot when the military sees you as their property. I would not recommend this school to my worst enemy and I whole heartedly hope the VA denies admittance and cuts funding to this school."

"I did not attend this school, but I have been a medical assistant for 5 years and my coworkers and I have recently be asked to take on externs from Carrington. We have taken on externs from a local community college which offers a medical assistant program, and there is quite a vast difference between the 2 groups of externs. Our community college externs have come out with a "go getter" attitude and very knowledgeable. Our externs from Carrington are nearly paralyzed with fear, and lack confidence with necessary tasks such as taking a blood pressure. They have told us they barely practiced them in school, and have also revealed that the amount of money they paid for the program was nearly twice as much of the program offered by the community college. I'm very disappointed in the level of education and support this school has produced, and if any one of them are unable to get a job after they graduate, they are going to be stuck with a very large loan to pay back and nothing to show for it."

"The Pleasant Hill Western career college Aka Carrington college, is a joke of a college. you are better spending your money on a college that sticks with their words. I was told they would help getting a job after graduation, but I had already applied to the jobs they sent me to. after months of trying to land a job,they sent me a e-mail saying they will no longer help with finding a job. So the financial counselor lied to me about them helping to find a job. yeah they knew the places that were looking for a job and the job would do interviews, but the people i graduated with, none of us landed the few jobs that were out there. I'm very dissatisfied with the schooling. it started out good ..small class size,until they got rid of the morning class and had one huge class. The good teacher they had ended up leaving and the teacher they put in her place didn't know much about being a tech, because most of the class i was with knew more about the lessons than her. This so called college is just about the money, once they get your money,they don't care about you!!! trust me, you will be smarter going to a school that will help with more hands on lessons. They also changed the courses to online which made taking the class not worth the money they ask from you!!! you can take other online courses for less money!!!"

"I'm one of the fortunate ones I had a great instructor. But my problems started on extern. Miscommunication between the ladies and I on my site and when I was asked to come to a meeting, no-one wanted to hear my side, just your a student you don't know everythig keep that in mind. When I had an extern on my extern. sore telling me what to do because nobody wanted to train me, and even she was doing things wrong.No support whatsoever. Yes I was put on extern to learn but even I know always wear gloves when handling a needle, but yet I'm in the wrong. Again I'm there to learn so I'm sorry I don't want to discuss you and your boyfriends argument last night, but I have patients and Drs to attend to. Yeah the employees got offended why because I have good work ethic and I go to work to work and not to socialize. But the school rode my butt, and told me again your JUST a student do things there way, talk to them make the employees if they want to talk. I'm not a therapist I don't want to play therapist, I thought I was a medical assistant. Sorry, not there for insecure women but to help PATIENTS!!!! As for career services...psh... All they did was go on indeed.com, good luck. 39 interviews later I got hired not for my education, but my experience in caregiving and Wal-Mart....Wal-Mart?!!!! Not my extern. My conclusion my instructor taught me well couldn't have done a better job. The issues lie with the rest of the campus. Like the program director and mainly career services...the education was worth it I learned what I needed to succeed in this field but I'm still making creepy pay. Career services doesn't even need to be on the payroll because it seems like all the students I graduated with found their own jobs again for a mere $10/hr job like we just didn't pay for a $15,000 education. not worth your money."

"This school is a waste of time and money. I graduated with a perfect GPA of 4.0 and perfect attendance. I was not hired on my externship because that particular site does not hire anyone, so I continued on to numerous interviews and I was never hired. I suggest saving your time and money."

"I went to Carrington College in 2013, I majored in the PTT program. I can tell you Carrington is a giant scam! First everything sounds great they tell oh you will get a job after graduation. I went through the program got good grades, when I went to externship, every tech I worked with said Carrington is a scam. The reason why they said this is because you don't need school to become a physical therapy tech, you could literally walk in volunteer for 2-3x a week once the PT trusts guesw what? Your a technician, after I finished my externship I didnt get any job help, they are supposed to help you, rather the lady gave me copies of how to make a resume. No job leads, i kept going a week after then after; still nothing. Eventually I applied at places on my own and got one call back for a pt tech job starting at 9 an hr. Thanks Carrington!! After all this I talked to most of my class and they ALL said they didn't get jobs after! After 13 graduates only 2 walked away with a tech job. Stay away from this school and apply at a REAL school. Was it worth 10k+ debt and no help?"
