"I overall don’t like this college it’s hard to meet new people with them just looking on there phones or floor all the time and It gives me a sense that I shouldn’t be here the college and that only specific should be here. I am friendly and approach so why not approach me or approach people that look like they’re approachable easy as that. This school not friendly and unwelcoming from true or real life experience."

"Mediocre, over priced, money hungry. They hold your transcripts even though Covid allows you to defer your student loans. The took my housing check and meal plan money and never returned after I let them know in advance I didn’t need it anymore. The administration is rude and incompetent"

"I'd like to share my recent experience with the Master of Data Science program at Central Connecticut State University. Without going into too much detail, the first few courses in the program started off well. They were hands on and taught me a lot, including programming languages/procedures with real world applications of Data Science. However the next two courses are where the program took a turn and where I started to see serious problems. The main problem is up to 50% of coursework and assignments in the latter courses started to lack lectures/videos and/or required readings that you'd normally expect from a graduate level education. Instead, we were essentially directed to web/google search and self teach ourselves both the concepts and technical programming procedures as well. For instance, in a required Multivariate Analytics course DATA 514, the course lecture, lesson, required readings etc did not actually teach how to test for Multivariate Normality of a dataset with a large number of variables, and instead the professor directed us to find the answers and teach ourselves the concepts and procedures online. Then, upon asking for clarification and the appropriate procedures, the professor was mostly combative and didn't provide clarification nor the procedures. I was left learning very little. Occasional web searches are fine and inevitable, but when web searches drive half of the assignments and grade on key concepts, and especially on technical data science and statistical procedures in R-Studio we haven’t been exposed to, with minimal to no guidance, then I take issue. Upon complaining to the University that this not up to the level of graduate coursework expected from an accredited degree granting university, costing thousands of dollars each, the University essentially defended the aforementioned practices and gave no indications that they would make any changes. Anyway, just wanted to share. Again, I would recommend avoiding this Data Science program at Central Connecticut State, and recommend looking elsewhere. There appear to be plenty of Data Science degrees offered elsewhere, and I doubt many of them have a mode of instruction of asking you to web search R-Studio/Python procedures for up to half the coursework like CCSU does."

"dont go here for CS. im a senior, and havent learned anything besides JAVA and machine language. idk how to print "hello world" in python. over 75% of my profs have been 60+ years old and have had thick accents. my current prof talks about politics and "Joe Biden is a terrorist" along with other stuff that shouldn't be said. Us CS students want teachers under 50 teaching us newer stuff like python. its a joke here for CS"

"Central Connecticut State University is a great college for incoming students to consider. I am finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Criminology in May and it has been a wonderful experience. You get to take courses in your major, minor (if applicable), and courses in subjects such as history, science, math, English, social/behavioral sciences, and a world language. Getting to take all of these courses is helpful, especially for incoming students who are not sure what they want to major in yet. The Criminology program is amazing and the professors are extremely helpful and great at what they do. I highly recommend this school."

"I feel that the dean at CCSU need to be on the professors a lot more. There were many classes at CCSU that were very hard and challenging just because of who was teaching it. It was either the class is unbelievable hard and the professor is giving students tens on tests or the very same class the next semester the professor will hold open book and open note tests. It made me frustrated that there was no middle ground. If I did find myself in one of the easier classes it made then next semester even tougher because I wasn't exposed to all of the material I should have been. I understand it is college and it is up to the student to learn, but any professor that simply shows up and writes on a white board and doesn't engage with his or her student should not be allowed to teach. They get worked too hard to get to that point in their lives to not teach the students."

"This program is one of very few offered in the New England area and is still relatively new. That being said, the Public History Masters Program at CCSU does its best to try to professionalize the program and prepare its students for the workforce. It requires that each student goes to 5 conferences over the course of their degree as a way to network with other museums and history organizations. Also, each student must complete an internship and capstone project, allowing them to incorporate their classroom learning into real life applications."

  • Degree: Special Education
"After graduating from CCSU with my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education, I decided to pursue my masters in Special Education at CCSU as well. The program gave the knowledge and experience to be a Special Education teacher. The program provided positive resources, experiences and outlets to help the teacher provide positive, resourceful experiences to help all students reach their goals and targets. The program at CCSU allowed for meaningful lessons and activities to teach us how to be prepared for our future careers. The professors help teach from their experiences which helps enlighten the students with what to prepare for. Overall, CCSU is a great program to pursue your teaching career, especially in Special Education. I worked hard for my degree and I am ready to continue pursue my education at CCSU."

"CCSU is a great place to learn and further your education. The faculty and staff are very knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. I returned to CCSU after 15 years to finish my bachelor's degree. It took 2 advisement meetings to get everything figured out and a plan for my future. Once enrolled into school everything they said they would do was done and I graduated a year later. I am know returning for a masters and have had questions the faculty has been quick to respond to questions and have once again laid out a great roadmap to my future. The exceptional service of the faculty impressed my wife she is now enrolling in a graduate degree as well!"

"An excellent institution with a strong history of education, Central Connecticut State University is a great choice for students across the globe, especially if they're education majors. As an alumnus of their Biology program I can say without a shadow of a doubt that my time there gave me exactly what I needed to start my career with the United States Forest Service."

"Central Connecticut State University has a very positive and diverse learning environment. As an RA on campus, I got to have a more in-depth experience of their campus life which is very accepting. I will be graduating Central with two Bachelor's degrees which were supplemented through the Honors Program. The Honors Program at Central can be very rigorous at times but prepares you well for post-graduate research since you are required to publish a thesis as a junior."

"The only reason I decided to attend Central Connecticut State University was to save money on tuition. I had heard good things about the school's education program, and since I wanted to be a teacher, it just made sense for me to go there. My general education classes were hard to get through. I dealt with incompetent professors, unhelpful advisors, and suffered through irrelevant classes. I was less than impressed with the dining options on campus for commuters. Things improved once I actually got into the education program. My professors were amazing and experienced. I was able to work in an elementary school every semester, which was a great experience. Although I had a rough start, I am happy with the education that I received at CCSU. I was hired immediately after student teaching as a paraprofessional, and I think the education I got at Central played a big part in that. I would recommend CCSU to anyone pursuing a degree in education."

  • Degree: Counseling
"The pros of my graduate programa are: the professors provide us high quality clases with a great teaching methods to learn about ethics, Counseling technique, etc. Also, as part of the graduate requisites students must complete a practicum and internship. This is a great opportunity to have work experience to entry in the competitive work world. About the cons, I should mention that will be a great idea to have a computer Center and a small library for graduate students in social science field."

"Love my school. Once you get involved in student life and meet more professors, a lot of opportunities can open up for you. The psychological science department is amazing. Our research methods class is intense, but will help you really learn the intricacies of research. Our professors are top tier and truly focus on student learning. CCSU's professor are largely hired due to their ability to teach, unlike many schools that just hire professors who have published a lot of articles. Though both are important, students need great teachers who they can learn from, that is something you can get at CCSU."
