Student & Graduate Reviews (2)

Graduation Year: 2005

The professors, with few exceptions, are exceptional, accessible, and let the discussion of a given topic be given proper context. This is a college where if you put your whole effort and heart into you can learn so much about your self and the disciplines you study. Every student can find his or her niche despite it being mostly small town transplants from Iowa or Minnesota. However, the food was much to be desired, and the Internet at the time (2002-2005) was slow and unreliable. There is definitely a "Coe "bubble" where students don't interact much with Cedar Rapids, which is nothing to write home about.

Educationally this place is absolutely fantastic. The class to professor ratio is about 20 to 1 and you know you aren't just a number sitting in class, the professors care about you succeeding. You get so many opportunities to further your studies with this liberal arts program. You get to take gen eds in all different departments so you can really know what you want to pursue and it's easy to switch majors, I switched mine at the end of my sophomore year and it was fairly seamless.
