"The 4 years I spent at Colby College were the best of my life. I met some of the most amazing people through my classes, extracurricular activities, and through the athletics department. There is ample opportunity for everyone to find something to get involved in outside of the classroom. You will be taught by caring and knowledgeable professors, and what you learn in the classroom will aid you in navigating and being successful in the real world. Your future self will thank you for getting a degree from Colby."

"Colby College is a fantastic place to attend college. Nestled in a homey central Maine town, Colby creates an atmosphere focused on intellectual development coupled with a family-like community on campus. The student body, and faculty, share a drive for academic achievement which allows students to make the most of their education. The liberal arts philosophy of Colby is probably its most powerful tool for preparing students to go out into the world and succeed. Colby gives you the unique opportunity to shape your education, while at the same time instilling values and knowledge fundamental for life after graduation. "Learning how to learn," is often a term attributed to liberal arts colleges, and this statement certainly holds true for Colby graduates. A confidence is bred in Colby students because they believe that they have been adequately prepared to take on the challenges of the day. This shared mentality among the student body helps to create deep, intimate bonds that will last a life time. Of course you have a core group of friends, but Colby challenges you to connect with people who may not have before and a united, amicable community is the result. The campus itself is second to none. The pristine Maine environment is cherished by all who attend. At Colby you are not just a student for four years, but you are indoctrinated into a family. Even after graduation, Colby alums are passionate about connecting with each other because we all understand the incredible experience we had whether it is a class of '70 grad to class of '16. Four years spent at Colby is truly a life shaping experience and i would recommend such an experience to anyone and everyone who is fortunate to be able to attend."

"Colby College provided me an excellent education and college experience. Colby's liberal arts approach to education helped develop my ability to think critically across a number of subjects , which also prepared me very well for medical school where one must know not only how to study and memorize, but also how to think critically about the subject matter. At Colby I studied history with a Middle Eastern regional focus. If you are thinking about pursuing a degree in history, you will find that the intimate classroom settings and brilliant professors in that department will nurture your writing and analysis skills. Moreover, I also have considerable experience in the science department at Colby because I took all the necessary classes for medical school as well. The chemistry department is where I spent most of my time and the professors were wonderful as were my classmates. The research opportunities are plenty and the knowledge that many of the professors have about both their field and the process of furthering your education in medical school or another graduate program is invaluable for future pursuits. I left medical school after one year because I realized that I did not want to be a doctor. After working for a few years, I reached back out to my Colby professors about applying to graduate school again and they have helped me every step of the way. The professors at Colby make Colby what is and shaped my experience at the school ad beyond. Both at Colby and after Colby the professors have cared well for me. However, as with any school there are some drawbacks. Maine is beautiful geographically and a wonderful place to live, but it is one of the least diverse states in the country. Colby is intentional about recruiting students from across the globe and across the country, but in general Colby is very white demographically. As a Floridian who grew up in a diverse city, this was strange to me and certainly an adjustment. Overall, I would highly recommend Colby College and would go there again if I had to do school all over."

"Colby was an absolutely amazing experience. I was a history major and can't say enough wonderful things about the staff--I'm friendly with my adviser and professors years after leaving college. My mom would have preferred that I majored in English, so the head of the history department called her and they exchanged so many emails, he was so supportive. I took a lot of English classes, as well--even from a Pulitzer prize winning author. The caliber of the professors was amazing--the old adage was true, take the professor not the class. I loved JanPlan where I took classes that I would never have fit into my schedule, otherwise, and even assisted a professor on an article he was writing and got a "thank you" credit in the published work. I worked on the Echo (the college newspaper) and because of that I attended a lot of lectures, events, theater, a capella, sports games, and art shows. Colby offers it's students so much--from great, competitive, athletic teams, to fun intramurals. My advice to anyone attending Colby is--be prepared to work hard, be prepared to have a lot of fun, and definitely invest in a down coat. My Colby friends are my closest friends--smart, fun-loving people who care about the world around them and want to have a positive impact."

"I loved Colby College for 2 years, my first and second. Yet, being from California, by the end of my time there I was very ready to move home. The weather is brutal and east coast girls can be cliquey. The college is also isolated in the middle of nowhere Maine. If you are from the bay area I would honestly advise looking into a different liberal arts college."

"Colby fosters an environment where you are encouraged to learn not only about your academic subjects, but about yourself, culture, humanity and how to be an adult.Advice After College: college prepares you to think critically and be an adult. Don't forget those lessons."
