"Colorado School of Mines is an excellent choice to further your education! While Colorado School of Mines is anything but simple or easy, the challenging education provides the respect and admirability of your degree upon graduation. Colorado School of Mines, outside of the rigorous and extraordinary academics, is absolutely beautiful and provides an awesome backyard of the Rocky Mountains! I highly recommend attending Mines."

"It's a tough school to get into. It's an engineering college that teaches you good work ethic and morals. It's a small school that has a fairly high drop out rate. It's a school with high reputation."

"The faculty and curriculum prepare students for the real world. Problem solving skills are practiced to perfection where students come out ahead of fellow entry level candidates around the country."

"I had a great time as a graduate student at the Colorado School of Mines. The campus is very nice with modern classrooms and you can't beat the beauty of Golden, CO. It is, by far, my favorite city in all of Colorado- downtown is only a few blocks from the campus, so you can easily walk to many restaurants. 10/10 would recommend..."

"I really enjoyed my experience earning my BS at CSM. In fact, I decided to return to pursue my MS after working in industry for a few years. It is a great place to be to get a top-notch education that is recognized and valued in industry. The school is academically challenging, so you need to work hard and be focused in order to succeed. I enjoyed my experience because I balanced the academic rigor with participation in extracurricular activities. There are student groups for every interest imaginable, and students have the freedom to start their own groups as they see fit. I recommend joining two types of groups: 1) a professional organization that will help you with career and networking skills, and 2) a social group that matches your interests. On the career side of things, the career center is great -- they will help you with everything from resume review to interview preparation, and they put on a big career fair every fall and spring semester. Companies are excited to hire CSM students for internships and full-time jobs because CSM produces top-notch engineers. In addition, the campus is continually striving to update its facilities with state-of-the-art research labs and campus buildings. They are always striving to increase the quality of student life on campus. There are many resources on campus for students to be successful."

"Colorado School of Mines is a great place if engineering is what you want to do. As one of the top engineering schools in the country, the work is challenging but it will prepare you well for careers in engineering and project management. For me, the size of the school is perfect as well. There are not too many students where you feel like you are a tiny fish in a huge pond, but its not so small that you know everyone either. Also, along with the top notch academics at Mines, the athletic programs are very competitive when it comes to conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances. Overall, I am very happy with my experience at Colorado School of Mines. I will be completing my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering this spring, and then I will be continuing to study mechanical engineering to earn a master's degree."

"I was honored to be accepted at Colorado School of Mines where I am currently pursuing my Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. The majority of the professor's are incredible and very supportive. It is a great school for engineering students as the majority of students enrolled are in an engineering discipline. The campus is smaller than my undergraduate campus but has all the amenities a student would need and much shorter walks from one end of campus to the other. I would highly recommend CSM to any future engineering student."

"Going here was extremely challenging. I was not prepared for how difficult it would be out of high school. However, now having graduated, I believe it was an extremely rewarding experience and absolutely worth the hard work. Don't come here expecting to have fun all the time. At Mines, you learn how to balance fun and a lot of hard work, and that is a very valuable life skill."

"I am currently pursuing a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering. The graduate program is exceptional and the professors are world renown in their respective areas of expertise. Much of the research conducted at the school is state-of-the-art and leading the industry in metallurgy research. At the point of entering the program the professors are less concerned with letter grades and are more concerned about the quality of the student's research. However, some students do little in terms of research and still graduate and I feel like that degrades the quality of the degree slightly. Overall, I think that the Metallurgical Engineering Graduate Program is one of the top materials engineering programs in the country. The quality of the professors and equipment is unsurpassed anywhere in the country."

"The best school to go to for an engineering degree. You will have a great work ethic if you are able to graduate from here and they will push you to be ready for the workforce"

"Beautiful area. Cheap tuition in-state, but you get what you pay for. No-frills, teachers seem far-stretched with research and teaching responsibilities, and no substantial career advising other than a few caring profs. Economics and Business does not maintain the alumni connections and industry reputation it once must have had. MEE focuses too much on abstract theory and glosses over resources knowledge- no real differentiation from a run-of-the-mill master's but for a couple classes. Best for those wanting to go into academic research or with engineering background."

"If you want a challenge this is the school to go to. College is only worth going to if you get a hard degree. I love/hated my time there, but made the best of friends through the intense school work. I would go there again over any other location. There are still parties there and the girl/guy ratio keeps getting better!"

"This is a great school to get challenged academically. Great facilities and resources as well. On top of that, the campus location cannot be beat with activities including hiking, trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, rock climbing and more within a 10 mile radius of the campus!"

"The MME program at Colorado School of Mines is one of the only programs in the country of its kind. The industry research focused graduate program allows participating companies to collaborate with students to develop cutting edge materials technology for energy-hungry and environmentally focused industries. The extensive industry participation provides CSM with the ability to invest in the top of the line research equipment and faculty, as well as fund research students' education. However, the schools prime location in the highly coveted Golden, CO means high living cost for students studying at CSM."

"I loved the smaller university atmosphere. You get to know a lot more people that way and get personal treatment from the professors. I cannot lie, it is a very difficult school and it requires a lot of hard work, but it pays off once you get a good job after graduating. You will sometimes have to stay in to finish a project while friends at other schools are partying. After working in the industry for a few years, i realized how important having Colorado School of Mines on my certificate (did i mention the certificate is actually an engraved plate of silver?)."

"The graduate program is heavily focused on research. The professors are at the top of their respective fields. The living stipend provided is sufficient but lacks when compared to some larger schools. There is a lot of opportunity for growth and development in the field of study"

"The graduate program at mines is very competitive, and highly rigorous. Courses are difficult, but high-quality, helpful teachers give deeper understandings of the course material. Career networking at CSM is unparalleled, with bi-annual job fairs giving ample opportunities for post-graduate employment (upwards of 200 companies go to job fair each semester). Technical skills are emphasized, a lot of time is spent learning the computer skills pertinent to my degree."

"I am pursuing a Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management. I absolutely love everything about this program. It has taught me a lot about business, which will make me a lot more valuable as a Mechanical Engineer. I also like that this major is very applicable to my everyday life regardless of the career path I take. The professors and faculty are beyond helpful and have been nothing but encouraging and enthusiastic towards my pursuit for a masters in this program!"
