  • Degree: MBA
"I had no issues with the professors during the 4 MBA courses I took. My issue is with the financial aid office and with one of the "enrollment specialists." Financial Aid - I required financial aid when I was originally pursuing the MBA at EWU. However, their system is clearly broken or mismanaged because the FAFSA funds apparently "never reached them" by the deadlines before courses started, causing me to either pay out of pocket EVEN THOUGH I was approved for financial aid, OR, be dropped from my courses due to non-payment and have to re-enroll the next quarter. I let them put me through this wild goose chase for financial aid for a few months until I dropped out of EWU altogether and enrolled in a different grad school. The "enrollment specialist" - I don't like calling people out by name, so I won't put hers here. HOWEVER, there is an unprofessional woman working for EWU that uses borderline abusive language when dealing with grad students. The first time I missed her call, she left a passive aggressive voicemail with a tone that shouldn't be used in the professional world. Her subsequent emails, anytime I dealt with her, were beyond rude. Here is a brief excerpt from our final email conversation (her typos included) - Her: "Whys did you drop your course? Will you be starting at a later time?" Me: "I am no longer enrolled at EWU." Her: "I know that. I asked if you will be starting at a later time." Clearly there is something missing here, whether it's customer service or just email etiquette. I don't know what purpose her emails serve. She should know I unenrolled from EWU, and that's that. Overall, if you don't want to deal with shady people or a financial aid office, I would steer clear of this school. If you can pay out of pocket and don't mind the occasional strange interaction with employees, EWU might work for you."

  • Degree: History
"I first enrolled into the online Master of Arts in History at EWU after wanting to change careers from my undergrad major. I was used to online only classes so that wasn't an issue. The problem came with extremely low quality instruction & academic standards: it didn't feel like Grad. School--honestly, I am not exagerrating when I say the first class had us copying and pasting answers into a worksheet & reading material published by the professor of the class--a clear conflict of interest in my opinion. Additionally, when there was actual work to be done & I did it, the same professor literally mocked me to my face about the "over-thoroughness" of my answers to the point of using winking emojis in the grades box--what kind of instructor criticizes a graduate level student (or any student for that matter!) over giving too detailed an answer? Most professors would fuss at you for not doing the required minimum, not for completing basic-level work. The second class I took (& the one that ultimately led to my transfer to another school) involved an extremely toxic classroom environment & an absentee professor who was literally never in the virtual classroom. We watched video lectures & ran the discussion forums ourselves. Everything was graded very late & parts of assignments we needed feedback on in order to do other bits were often not graded until it was too late--I had to wing it. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of EWU online if you want a high-quality, rigorous graduate-level History program. I was left deflated, disillusioned & broken in spirit after just 3 months there & wasted my time, energy & hard-earned money. Don't let them drag you down--go to a different school."

  • Degree: Dental Assistant
"EWU offers a fantastic online degree completion program for dental hygienists who already have an associates degree but want to pursue further education. Emilie has been my guiding light through registration and classes and any other concern or question that plagued me late at night. The curriculum is geared towards working dental hygienists and helps connect practicing with learning. I am a better clinical dental hygienist because of EWU and am continuing my education with them for my masters. I have and will continue to recommend EWU to any dental hygienist looking to complete their bachelors or masters of science."
