"Elmhurst College is a unique college, yet oddly like most suburban, private schools. You get a liberal arts education set in a beautiful, affluent community. You'll live in a mix of new and traditional dorms. And you'll get to walk the picturesque quad overlooking a large UCC chapel. However, where Elmhurst differs is the community. After you strip away the commuters just wanting to get college done and over with (but do not want to go to the dreaded community college campuses nearby), you have students who put a lot of love and dedication to Elmhurst. As a music, theater, and education student, I met a lot of these people who genuinely loved their professors, classes, student activities office, etc. It's easy to feel the love around the school, especially during homecoming. Where the school is lacking is rigor. I only took one class that challenged me (an online meterology class for gen ed requirements). I did have professors and an advisor who pushed me, but that didn't make up for a lack of classes that made me feel it was at what I think should be a collegiate level. I also wished for a bigger diversity in terms of activities. Still, it is "school I love, Elmhurst.""

"Elmhurst College was the place where I have fulfilled the best four years of my life so far. I am a student who loves school, and the professors at Elmhurst College did nothing but increase my likeness for learning. Every teacher I encountered at this institution were passionate for what they taught and possessed the ability to keep each and every student engaged. There were endless possibilities for clubs and sports here, and everywhere you went there were people trying to get you to engage or join in on the fun. Elmhurst College was a liberal, passionate, and loving institution that I will never forget."

"Towards the end of my junior year of High  school I started creating a list of schools I was interested in furthering my education at. I visited a total of 6 schools, they were all different sizes and all over the country. I wasn't sure what I wanted in a school. I come from a very small High school so originally I thought I wanted a big school, as soon as I stepped foot onto Elmhurst College campus I knew it was for me. Here we aren't just another number, you build connections that will last a lifetime and professors who are friends and truly care if you succeed. The average class size is about 17 students. In High school teachers would always say, "In college professors won't care what you do!" At Elmhurst College that couldn't be farther from the truth. Your advisor and other facility really is able to build a connection with you which is very helpful when needed. It is nice being able to walk into a office and talk about past topics and they will remember. You may think that because it is such a small school there will be nothing to do, Elmhurst has so many clubs and teams you could join. If they don't have the club you are looking for, all you need is a few friends to start your own! At Elmhurst College we are very accepting to new ideas, I couldn't imagine myself anywhere else but here."

  • Degree: Public Health
"My experience when I enrolled into the very new online Public Health program I was beyond excited. Everything was going great; professors were very helpful when you needed them. Actually, all of the professors within the public health program has continued to be very helpful. You can tell they want their students to succeed in the course and in their future careers. I am at the very end of the program and I knew it was too good to be true. I'm having problems with my advisor who is also the program director. They decided to make changes to the program later on which I understand schools can do that but for future students. She is now trying to add additional courses to my schedule telling me these classes are mandatory for me to take even though these classes are not mentioned in the 2014 course catalog which is the year I enrolled into the program. So now she has decided to tell me ok I will make only 1 of the 3 classes mandatory and if you don't take it you can't take your practicum or your capstone. WTH??!! I'm beyond frustrated with this lady. If I didn't invest money, time, and effort I wouldn't even continue with the course. I have also ask her several times to give me general information about the practicum which she refuses to do. She states you will get that information when you enrolled in the course. That does not make any sense to me. You are going to give me details about the required internship that I am required to do when class STARTS. How logical is that? This is beyond unfair and unprofessional. I don't know how the other programs are at Elmhurst but stay away from the public health program. Spend your money on a school that is professional, organized, and willing to work with their GRADUATE students. If I could I would transfer and if I knew I was going to have to deal with this I would of registered elsewhere and not to mentioned this school is not cheap. If only I could go back in time. Also get everything in writing via email."

"I am proud to say that I am a graduate student at Elmhurst College. This college is well respected and the educators and advisors are superb. It is a small college with a hometown feel, but it gives you everything you need. My graduate program has well equipped me with the skills I will need when I enter the work force. The only cons are that as a graduate student you are concentrated with your small cohort and may not get to experience all that this wonderful campus has to offer."

  • Degree: MBA
"Elmhurst College is a great place to get your MBA. With a director who is constantly trying to give MBA students a perfect balance of both experience and textbook learning. It's a small school, and an even smaller program (20). The MBA is split in two cohorts. For a solid year, you get to know your cohort, and build strong personal and professional relationships through stress and joy. The second year of the MBA program then splits off into specializations, where the group gets even smaller.(4) With this small group, you're able to get all the attention you need in order to thrive in your work place, or potential work place. Elmhurst College is highly recommended. I love it so much, I not only have an undergrad from there, and working on my MBA, but I start this fall for my second master's degree in CIS."

"The graduate program of Speech-Language Pathology is highly competitive. The only con is the amount of work needed to go into succeeding. Otherwise it is a very rewarding career path and the program has a very wonderful framework at Elmhurst College."

"Elmhurst College is a great private institution. The faculty is wonderful and very welcoming and students are nice. It is a small school surrounded by a great neighborhood.
