  • Degree: Performing Arts
"The program is very thorough if however overshadowed by the musical theatre program. I wish there had been more performance opportunities for the straight actors. The classes were very heavy on women and not very many men. At Elon there is a hierarchy of degrees that goes BA theatre, BFA Acting, and then BFA Musical theatre. The BFA's looked down on the BA's, I never liked that dynamic of the theatre programs. It seems so petty now. A bonus of having such a well know musical department is getting very famous composers to come and give master classes. Adam Guettel and Jason Robert Brown and two that I remember as being really amazing. I'd say I learned the most from the playscript analysis class. It was very work heavy but it helped open my mind to possibilities that I had never considered. That was by far the most beneficial class for me."

"The Strat Comm program at Elon is very well developed. You take classes that help you understand the basis of communications and then dive into classes that help you become a better writer, and prepare you for internships and jobs. I have had four internships which I got own my won, but the School of Communications Internship office is so helpful with resumes and cover letters as well as hosting networking events. Elon also has a student run PR firm called Live Oak Communications where students work with real businesses and learn everything about being in the PR industry."

"Elon University focuses on a hands-on, experience based liberal arts education. From Microbiology to Australian and New Zealand Film, I have had the opportunity to explore many academic interests in and outside of the classroom. Elon's professors are student-focused, placing the undergraduate student at the head of any research or service project he or she wishes to complete."

"Elon University is a very academically rigorous school with small classes and a lot of opportunities for discussion and interaction with professors. I really enjoyed my time at this university. There is a large percentage of Greek Life at this school; however, I got through being part of a co-ed service fraternity instead and I made a lot of friends. Don't let the school fool you, you can have a great time without joining Greek Life. The community is also small and tight-knit but it's only about a half hour to Greensboro and an hour-ish to Raleigh so there are a lot of opportunities for city-life."

"Attending Elon University was the best decision that I have ever made. They are extremely supportive of their students and help you to grow and succeed in all areas of your life. The classes were engaging and the professors really care about their students. There were a ton of extra-curricular activities available for students including athletics, Greek life, arts, community service, and special interest clubs. Everyone on campus really cared about me from maintenance staff, cafeteria staff, administration staff, professors, and other students. There were opportunities to study abroad, be involved in research, and participate in internships--all of which helped me become the person I am today. I would recommend Elon to anyone and everyone."

  • Degree: Physical Therapy
"Pros: The faculty and staff do a great job of making themselves available. It is also evident that they are genuinely interested in adding value to each students educational experience as opposed to just working for a paycheck. Cons: The physical therapy program could use more business classes. The physical therapy profession is highly profitable. Many investors are looking for entrepreneurial-spirited physical therapists to open clinics. This will only increase as health care continues to grow. In order for Elon to be leaders in the physical therapy profession, they must realize this and understand that business classes are imperative for their prospective students."

"I think this is a quality program that is great preparation for my career. The proximity to law firms and the County and Federal Courts is a great asset, not to mention the Business Court being housed in the school."

  • Degree: Physical Therapy
"The pros of the program revolve around a great staff that supports and motivates the students while having the appropriate knowledge base to have the students excel in their goals of the future. The cons has to do mostly with the expense. It's fairly expensive and not much if any financial aide is offered. With this said, loans are most definitely necessary."

  • Degree: Law
"As a first year law student it is tough. We are told that the staff is there to help and they do to a certain degree. The workload is difficult when you do not know what is expected of you. Once you get a feel for the material, after the first semester, it gets better. I believe that more diversity within the school would make it a better program. Law is also very competitive students are not willing to help each other to easily. The law school is located in downtown Greensboro so it is not on the Elon campus. Being downtown is convenient."

"Elon University's Physical Therapy Program is ahead of its time. The faculty here are student focused and really care about everyone's success. You feel a sense of community as soon as you walk through the doors. The health sciences building is brand new so everything is state of the art. There is no way to feel behind or left out in class because LCD TV's are located throughout lecture/lab rooms to assure everyone is seeing the information. It is hard to really say cons about the program itself. Of course we would like the work load to lighten up, but that's to prepare you for the reality of the career chosen. Elon is a small town, so there is not much to do around here but larger cities are not that far away. The student population doesn't seem to be too diverse, but that could be for a number of reasons."
