I've been enrolled in Everest University Online since April 2013. I honestly can't see a problem with the college, I like it. Couple of times I have come close to get on the Dean's list whether it's an A and two Bs or two A+s and a C, the grants are great they help you with your school bills to an affordable cost such as $24 a month. It's changing my life for the better.

Did this Degree Help Your Career?

I started off at Everest College in California and then moved out of state and transferred to all online. While at the Campus, it feels like high school, not a college environment what so ever. The instructors were horrible, you don't really learn anything because they don't care. When I transferred to online I thought it was a little better because you are able to go at your own pace and not be held back by students that don't want to be there, but once again the instructors didn't care and don't offer any real help when you need it. I completed the program in 2 years and never received a diploma or certificate showing I completed the Degree. Every time I all I get the run a around and never get anything accomplished. I recently tried to transfer my credits to a Community College in NV and I was told yesterday that the credit I "earned" here are not nationally accredited so I will have to start all over. What a surprise considering every single employee I asked said they were accredited. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I WILL BE PAYING OFF A LOAN FOR NOTHING FOR THE NEXT 10+ YEARS!

Did this Degree Help Your Career?

Wow, I didnt have really any problems linked to them. I did graduate with an Associates Degree in Billing and Coding. I will say that they did not "really" help with job placement. I am currently still looking, even with my previous experience of 3 years as a medical biller. The cost was scary! I am now 35,000.00 in debt. That is my only complaint. The classes were challenging and the instructers were very helpful. I dont really know why people would think that they would help you with job placement and you are not even graduated yet? That always comes during your last term in any school when you are on course to graduate. The only down fall to attending online school is that you dont get the support of your class mates. But there are ways to get around that you just need to be proactive. When ever I called them they were super helpful and returned my calls timely. I also had no problems posting assignements or with the financile side. I mean people that graduated from University's have a really hard time getting jobs that they are more then qualified for. So why should you be any different?

Tell us about your college experience.

I have been attending since august 2012. I haven't had any problems with this school yet. I'm on the deans list, getting all A's and a great gpa! I guess if I have any problem I'll find out when I graduate July 6 2014. At first I wasn't understanding my assignments, now I'm doing good and they aren't as stressful as they were. My coordinator is friendly and seems to take the time to listen if I'm having any difficulty or when I have questions. I have had good instructors so far.

What advice can you offer other students?

Just smile and do your best. Ask for help if you need it. Talk as if you know who you're talking to, no need to be shy.

I see all of these particular people writing numerous bad reviews. I have so far had an excellent experience with Everest. I just finished my first term and everything seems to be going fine. A lot of people in here are complaining about not being able to find work and Everest not helping much to help find them work. For one, Maybe you should have went to school for something more in demand besides business or criminal justice. It's your own fault. I brought one of my classes up from a 45% to a 72% because I failed to do the discussions. I tried to go to college on campus at a major university but being in my mid 20's and needing to work for a living, its kind of hard to schedule around classes. Doing my assignments on my own time is a huge benefit for me and would be to any working adult looking to further their education. Btw,If you don't know that squiggly line under a word means it is misspelled you should go back to high school anyhow. I plan on achieving my associate degree in computer information science and enrolling again for a bachelor degree.

Did this Degree Help Your Career?

I can say that I didn't have any major concerns when I attended my online classes. But I can say that when I started online classes I was having a lot of issues with my computer at the time. But I called my advisor and made me aware of they I could get a laptop that they would send me. In which they did along with I never had to go out and look for any books. I had my books on time. I know that it seems that Everest has gotten a lot of bad reviews, but for me I had no major concerns. I am actually enrolled in returning back to get my BA. Remember that there is no such thing as a perfect school. Everyone have different opinions.

The 1st 2 weeks went fine, but then I would post my work but it wasn't showing online. I contacted IT & they wouldn't or couldn't fix it. They dropped me & failed me in all 4 classes. Then a month later I got a bill for $2300. It happened to my best friend too. Don't waste your time or money, they are scam artists.

I went to Everest due to possible relocation with my job while I earned my BS. I enrolled easy enough only to find out the enrollment specialist enrolled me in the wrong course...my associates degree was in one thing and I wanted to work on a BS in another. Now that I've graduated I'm having serious troubles with the place. They wont mail my diploma because they say there is a balance on my account. They requested my last financial aid REALLY late and it didn't post until after I graduated so it had to be sent back. Now I'm arguing with them because at one time they had all the money, they sent way too much back to my student loans, I cant get any answers, they are content to let the issue keep rolling along, and keep insisting I owe them money. Pay close attention to tuition rates, loans you get, and so on. BE READY FOR PROBLEMS.

Did this Degree Help Your Career?

First Off let me start off with I worked my tail off getting my associates degree with them. I had the usual as I now see messing up my financial aid for months on end I had to at one point call two and three times a day to get someone to help me. I finally received my refund from financial aid three months late and they are always ready to get you a lone and not look into financial situations that will help you the seem predatory in my opinion. I finally graduated with my associates degree in criminal justice and when I went to enroll to start my BA I was then asked if I had any kind of criminal record and I stated yes I had at one time had a misdemeanor. I was then told oh we now have a new policy that we do not let people with misdemeanor's or felonies enroll in criminal justice programs and they wanted me to reenroll in something else. I was also mailed extra money my last semester and wasn't told it was extra and needed to pay it back. I was never sent a bill and I never received my degree I finally started being harassed by Everest for their supposed 700 dollars ok Everest where the hell is my degree or do I just tell potential employers oh I have it but they wont give it to me. Give me my degree I will give you your money sounds fair yes I do not trust Everest they when I needed money avoided me like the plague now they want my money and can kiss my rear end.

Did this Degree Help Your Career?

When I heard about Everest I thought it was a dream come true on how they displayed themselves. I heard of this college while I was still in High School and was impressed with them so I went for their school. A lot of my friends were telling me about their bad rep but I thought I would get something different. I mean at school they had enough I pads for all of the students to use and the guy was well mannered and was wearing a suit. Note! Remember this is a for-profit school. They spend more money on themselves than on their school program. When I gave them my phone number I got a few friendly calls about getting me enrolled. There were times that they called me in unfriendly times or just too early in the morning. Once I walked into their campus after having a devil of a time finding it (due for it looks like a random business building than a school) I was greeted very friendly. They spoke very highly of me and how smart I am (way smarter than what they normally get). I am not sure to this day if this is the truth or some gimmick they use on everyone. The first few weeks were fun and exciting. I made a few friends and meet some real awesome teachers that knows how to teach. Campus is better than online because on campus if there is an issue you can raise it directly whereas online it will be quickly ignored. They do play favorites with their programs though. The paralegal program wasn't very popular like the medical programs. The medical programs have more teachers (which is understandable), had a party every end of the month (No other program students were aloud to join), and ect. Don't get me wrong I talked to a few of the medical students (the older folks) and they were just trying to get by as me. So if you are joining a program, ask what the program includes like extra lessons, end of the month parties, meet ups, ect. What made me fed up with Everest was the fact that they fired two teachers and one teacher quit. For 5 months all of my classes were taught by subs and I honestly felt like I wasn't learning anything. Then the last 3 weeks they brought over someone from Dallas to teach one class. She was always 2-5 hours late every week and we had to sit there doing nothing because the Dean didn't want us to walk out. When she did showed up I couldn't understand what she was saying and she didn't understand me too much from the way I dress and speak. There is a whole story on the year I was at Everest, but I believe I got the important parts covered. Just remember, this is a for-profit school, meaning they are only doing this for profit. And it really feels like that. P.s. They don't help you in getting a job. It is in the fine print, they only help those that are on their last terms or already out. For the whole year I kept sending in my papers but I never gotten word of what is hiring. A friend of mine, an older fellow that has a family, got word of an opening but it wasn't for his program (paralegal) but for fastfood. He took this as an insult because he thought they would look for lawyers looking for paralegals (It happens all the time).
