"The WORST financial aid experience I have ever had. Do not expect your money in a reasonable time. They will lie to you and tell you a certain time just to get you off the phone. I’ve been waiting for over a month now and every time I call it’s a new reason"

"Horrible school. Information is impossible to find. They have a complete disregard for student safety. Completely ill prepared and made every student with on campus living evacuate and sleep on the floor of the Arena while they tow their cars. I would stay far away if you care about your child having a safe environment. FGCU makes things complicated and is honestly just not a good choice for schooling. I regret my decisions going to this school. There’s tons of things wrong but way too many to list. Most of their operations like towing students cars and taking money from kids for courses that are designed horribly.. stay away. Get a degree elsewhere."

"The online MBA program is truly interesting. The offering is targeted at working adults who can benefit from an asynchronous online program to have the flexibility they need while working full time. Yet the program is not flexible with missed or make up work. Only a few professors care enough to give leniency in that regard. One economics professor (ECP 6705) is completely non-participative. You get HW assignments to do in Pearson My Lab and exams from the same. She gave an assignment to complete an Excel spreadsheet but gave no instruction how to input formulas. Never even went over an example. I feel stuck with this school since I have taken too many classes to stop now. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have gone elsewhere. Be careful with your choices. I hope the remaining courses will be more FLEXIBLE!"

"Fantastic school. Great teachers, small community but many musical opportunities in Southwest Florida. The Bower School of Music is a beautiful building and many alums have gone on to play piano at Carnegie Hall or sing opera with various regional companies."

"The four years that I spent at Florida Gulf Coast were the best years of my life. If you work hard and demonstrate initiative to take advantage of opportunities you will prosper. The small school environment provides great visibility for those that work hard. I worked hard and did well in school and because of that, I stood out. I had professors constantly vouching for me, sending new opportunities, providing connections, and giving advice. In fact, the only reason I ever considered applying to top 10 master's program is that I had a professor motivate me to give it a shot. That same professor helped me diversify my application, wrote me a letter of recommendation, and helped prepare me for my interview. You definitely will not get that same personalized help at just any school. The campus is gorgeous, environmentally friendly, and in a great location. The city is not overly distracting which allows students to really focus and get to know classmates. FGCU also focuses on giving back to the community which I believe to be another characteristic that sets it apart from other schools at this level. The overall culture at the university is supportive and laid back. It is very common to see peers studying on the library lawn in 80-degree weather in between classes. Overall, I am so thankful every day that I chose to attend Florida Gulf Coast University. It has given me more opportunities than I ever imagined, I found my love for learning, and I met some of the most incredible individuals."

"I have been attending Florida Gulf Coast University since the Fall of 2017. Every class has provided assignments and classwork that involved critical thinking and real-life scenarios. My professors have provided constructive feedback and participate with the class to ensure every student understands the assignment."

"I regret my decision to attend FGCU. I graduated high school with my AA so you could say that I am an above average student. I applied to 9 schools, and was accepted to all of them, including the University of Florida. The sole reason I chose FGCU was because they offered me a full scholarship and paid me to go there. That is their only good aspect, is their financial aid is unrivaled. That being said, that is the only good thing I have to say about FGCU. The students who go there are average at best, I only know 3 people who I would say are actually smart and added value to my knowledge when I studied with them. I pursued a Biology degree as I hope to attend Medical School, and I was very displeased with the professors there. The chemistry department is horrendous, with the exception of my organic chemistry Dr. B. was amazing. Every other chem professor is horrible and the smartest person I have ever met almost failed organic chem because how bad her professor was. The physics department is also horrible, with all the professors coming in at a whopping 2stars max on Rate my Professor. The biology professors are excellent so no complaints there. Due to my experience, and the lack of education I received at FGCU I have transferred to the University of Florida as it better suits what I am wanting to do in life. Bottom line is if you have goals to attend graduate or medical school DO NOT GO TO FGCU. Sorry this was such a long post, but I don't want others to make the mistake I did of going to FGCU. Best of luck to all of you with your future plans!!"

"My experiences at FGCU has shaped my leadership philosophy. I am grateful for all the faculty and staff that encouraged me to think outside the box. I learned that 100% perfect of questions you do not ask, the answer will also be no. My mentors, faculty, and professional staff members ensured that I participated in as many opportunities as I can off and on campus. This is a great university and if I could do it all over again, I will. I used all the resources available to me, such as student support services, the library, the counselling center, career services, and student involvement office."

"Florida Gulf Coast University is known for its beautiful campus which is other wise tucked away in Fort Myers's Florida. Florida Gulf Coast University has smaller classroom sizes which I find ideal for a learning experience and was one of the reasons why I chose the school. I also liked the idea that all professor's hired at Florida Gulf Coast University were currently working professionals in the fields for which they were teaching. The school has its own lakefront beach which also features kayaking, jet skiing and any other beach activity you could imagine. Florida Gulf Coast University also features many clubs and volunteer opportunities most of which focus on sustainability. If any of these points peak your curiosity, please consider Florida Gulf Coast University as your future school."

"I am currently enrolled in the Fall semester at Ave Maria School of Law. Before taking on this journey, I graduated with a Bachelors in Science from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012. I graduated at the age of 22 with a 2 year old and a 10 month old. The university did a great job at assisting me complete my degree with no set backs. The number of classes that were available online allowed me to fulfill my duties and responsibilities as a mother and still pursue my academic goals. There was also a number of scholarship opportunities that helped me financially. I am eternally grateful for the vast amount of opportunities that were available to me as a single mother."

"Florida Gulf Coast University is wonderful school, environmentally friendly, and a tight knit community. FGCU has implemented new technologies and regulations to commit to ways that we can all help the environment. The class sizes are smaller, making it easy to have closer relationships with your professors. The professors are very approachable , they have given me the tools I need to assist me with reaching my goals not only in the academic world but also in the real world. The faculty has gone above and beyond to help me with furthering my education. They have given advice and proof read papers. If I did not do well on a test I had the opportunity to go over it with a professor so that I could do better next time. Without their help I would not be where I am now. After graduating I have kept in contact with my professors and they have continued to help me with my plans for graduate school. I have made lifelong relationships with the faculty."

The professors are knowledgeable and are always willing to help. I have also had many networking opportunities, which are very valuable in the legal field."

"I attended Florida Gulf Coast University initially because it was close to home and I was able to live with my parents and commute to school. FGCU has many campus clubs and activities to join/attend. One of the major clubs to be active in is the dirty birds, this is a basketball student association which hosts many fun events. Campus is clean with a friendly environment overall. There are not many professors because this is a small University so classes fill very quickly so be sure to register ASAP when enrollment opens. I currently am attending FGCU once again to complete my Masters degree and would not if this wasn't a great school."

"The Environmental Science M.S. program at Florida Gulf Coast University is very dedicated to solving environmental issues in the local Southwest Florida area. This program has a local focus, but the concepts learned can be applied to other areas throughout the state and country. The instructors are very intent on helping you learn the content and working around your schedule if you are a part time student. There are many scholarship and grant opportunities through the university and state for environmental science research. The financial aid offices are always able to work with you and see you that day if possible and helped me to feel at ease transitioning to this program of study."

"My thoughts on this college is positive. It is a state university with high regards to having a Eco-friendly campus. It has a diversity of majors to choose from with a very passionate faculty staff to help students achieve their goals. It also has a Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Accreditation which is one of the most utmost known accreditation on a global scale for business schools."

"FGCU is an excellent school, providing extensive opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom. After their Cinderella story performance in the NCAA basketball tournament the school has certainly gained traction and become far more attractive of an option for potential students. Thankfully with this increase in exposure the school has received more money, which they have happily been allocating across the campus to improve or build new facilities."

"My college was fairly new (<10 years old) at the time I attended. Therefore, it was still a small school and didn't have all the bells and whistles of an established school (football team, big Greek life, etc). I think I got a good education there and enjoyed my time at FGCU."
