I graduate next year, but so far no one seems to know exactly what they are talking about, for one I tried to go up there just to get an new ID & the staff wouldn't know how to work the machine. Secondly, I have a paid and full scholarship that keeps getting dropped and I have no clue why. So what do I do? I ask and call fscj and OF COURSE they can't see any issues on there end. So therefore I try to call fscj for an override to get back into the class & no one answers for a whole 4 days and I have left numerous voicemails, so on the fourth day when I finally get in touch with the override department she tells me "wellllllll the deadline was last week" IVE BEEN CALLING SINCE THEN. I attempt to explain that to her & asked her if I can explain what happened & then she explains to me "You can explain everything you want but the intrusctor already said it is too late to get back into class, because it's a 8 week class so it'll be pointless". That was just very rude, inconsiderate & not helpful at all. So now I have to wait to get back in school for next term over something I had no control over & was not aware of. It's very disappointing to know the staff is not very helping of that either.
I used to love this school and most of my professors have been great. However the last year and a half since I have returned it has really gone downhill. Financial aid keeps messing up and so I missed half a semester of classes and lost half my grant for not being full time because only 2 classes I needed were offered C8 session. This semester my disbursement was delayed a month because they had to hand calculate it and I was getting bills in the mail. The dean won't do anything about a professor who did not post any info until the end of week 2 of an 8 week course, the required book he is grading out paper based on us following steps from is not available at any library or the school bookstore and is not even available on Amazon currently and graded all our assignments half way through the last week so not we have to scramble to revise them in 4 day to resubmit to raise our grade from the stuff we missed from not having the book. And trying to find out who to contact about anything is near impossible. I have to call 4 people to find out who the new dean of IT was.
Financial aid will give you a migraine. Be prepared to come out of pocket to pay for classes just incase fscj takes to long to distribute grants or loans. Other than that Fscj is a good school, the teachers are amazing, and everybody is helpful! If you didn't understand a certain subject the teacher will work with you. Externship are great we get to work in general or speciality practices. This program is accredited with the Dental Association.
The program was great although demanding but changes were made constantly throughout the program which I thought was unfair. I say this because ypu go into the program with certain criteria and I feel that should be held up throughout. Changes should affect new students coming in not ones that are currently in. The instructors for the most part were great. Very helpful. The financial department needs work and is improving. Overall my good outweighed my bad and I would seek another degree
The college is good because it has a wide variety class options for all people. If you have to go to class or take them online the options are available. It is hard to get things taken care of though. Never try to call to take care of something because they never answer the phone at student services. It is as if people assume you know what you are doing. If I had not followed through on at least three occasions I would not have submitted all information needed for my financial aid. Each time I was told I had everything when in fact I did not.
I have had an excellent experience here at fscj! I have been mainly taking online courses because of my work schedule. My best experience has been with my enc 1101. My instructor S N was an excellent communicator with her reviews suggestions etc. She was always prompt with her responses to my questions.
