"They have experienced professors who do breakthrough research projects, the faculty and students are nationally renowned and talented at earning grant money for the program. If you are interested in going in to research or teaching in the public school system for communication disorders, Florida State is your best option. They also have a distance learning program available to Florida residents."

"The teachers are awesome. We have discussions rather than classes where the professors speak and the class goes to sleep. They are there for you when you need them. As an international student, I am quite surprised at how easy going professors can be. Transportation is quite a hassle. Have to wait for the bus for at least half an hour and if you own a car, you'd better reach campus half an hour early for a good parking spot. by 2014, the whole campus would be turned smoke free, so that is kinda bad news for smokers and good news for the ones who want to quit."

"Faculty are invested in the student's experience and work hard to ensure academic and professional success. Assistantships provide the opportunity to work as a professional while subsidizing all tuition costs too."

"I have enjoyed my first year at FSU. My professors have been very accessible and helpful. The requirements here for a Masters Degree in Music, specifically Vocal Performance are not overly demanding, particularly if you have had languages and diction in your undergraduate. There are a good number of performance opportunities as well, with two main stage operas a year and then a summer opera and plenty of recitals to sing if you are interested in assisting the accompaniment students. The negatives are not really negatives. Spatially, the Arts buildings are set away from the rest of the campus which is okay. There is bus service but it is odd and doesn't run 24 hours a day. It is definitely a 'need a car' kinda town and school."

"The program is really challenging and really prepares you for teaching reading and language courses. It is a lot of work and is not for the faint of heart but it is well worth the time and effort."

"The program is very competitive. The professors have a lot of practical experience, are easily accessible, and clearly happy to be there. It is a welcoming environment that encourages the pursuit of knowledge and challenges the student to go beyond the minimum requirements. Tallahassee is a small environment, but the program works to find as many practicum opportunities and other types of opportunities as possible to ensure the best possible educational experience."

"This program is taught by three profound Art Therapists within the field. The structure of the program allows the students to gain professional experience three separate semesters while attending school. The program provides the students with appropriate knowledge and a great source of experience. It is very nice to have a small cohort of only 15 students with three professors. The professors are very caring about the students and their successes. There are currently not any flaws that effect my view of the program. I have grown as a student and as an individual while completing my first year of this graduate program."

  • Degree: School Psychology
"The School Psychology program at Florida State University is at the top of its class. The current students and faculty assist new students in acclimating to the University and life as a graduate student. Our instructors incorporate their expert knowledge and research experience into the course curriculum. Another unique feature to our program is the multitude of opportunities to gain hands-on practice and experience out in the field. With a Practicum course built in, graduate students are placed in local area schools to shadow interns and professionals in the real-world setting. In addition, Florida State's College of Education presents many other opportunities to obtain crucial experience in the field of school psychology, such as: positions at the Adult Learning Evaluation Center, the on-campus Multi-Disciplinary Center, the Florida Center for Reading Research, as well as teaching and research assistant positions. These positions allow students to serve as psycho-educational evaluators, clerical staff, assistants for reading research, and provide knowledge in proper administration techniques, protocol scoring, consultation, filing, and report writing. Finally, a yearlong internship is required and incorporated into the curriculum to ensure students have efficiently absorbed and can actively apply the skills and knowledge learned throughout their graduate education. This process is streamlined across the state of Florida, with universal deadlines for application due dates, interview periods and announcement of acceptance to an internship site. The above mentioned aspects of FSU's School Psychology program propel its students into the field with optimum probability for success. These features make Florida State University's program stand out amongst the rest and should be highly considered when deciding your future graduate program."

  • Degree: Social Work
"Pros - well respected program in the state, with strong support of the social work community. Great internship opportunities that can lead into full time employment post graduation. Tallahassee is a thriving college and professional town, with the state Legislature based here. The professors are considered leaders in their areas and we have the benefit of having professionals who are dealing first hand with the issues address classes frequently. We are in the center of law-making and issues development. As a returning student, I love that many classes are offered at night, allowing me to continue to work full time. Cons - I cannot think of any true Cons at this time. The program is as good as the student wants to make it, through their involvement and participation."

"pros- the classes are more of discussions where we read the chapters before class and our professors discuss these chapters and explains if something was difficult to understand. This makes us more efficient in reading and understanding complex text in a short span of time. Cons- although the teaching is good I have done quite well in my courses that I took so far(definitely because I worked hard!), The price for each course is overwhelming for me and difficult to pay. I wish there were scholarships awarded on performances in class, by the university"

  • Degree: Film Production
"Pros: The school is an excellent value. It has just as good, if not better, facilities as all the top-ranked film schools, and they pay for your main production expenses, an expensive hidden cost at nearly every other film school in the nation. The faculty have all worked in the industry and are very knowledgeable. The school teaches you how the industry works and trains you in many different jobs, so you can be plugged in on any major film set after graduation and be prepared to handle the job. The community is also very supportive with film shoots in the area and open up their homes for us. Cons: Tallahassee isn't the best city in the world. It's the capital, but it doesn't feel like it. It's a college town, which can be exciting at times, but the streets around campus are usually clogged with traffic during the school year. There are not a lot of "city" things to do, but it's okay because you won't have much time in film school. Also, the heat/humidity can be terrible."

  • Degree: Communications
"The graduate program at Florida State University's College of Communication is top notch. The staff is incredibly helpful and truly care for students. The workload is sufficient, yet challenging, I am in the middle of my second semester of the Integrated Marketing Communication program. Going back to school was one of the best decisions I have made. Gaining the knowledge I have at FSU has fully prepared me for a future career in the communication field."
