I was in my second to last term as a nurse completing my ASN. I have certificates for Presidents list, Deans list, Honor roll, and perfect attendance. I had A's in all my classes with 95% test average. I was kicked out of the program. No specifics, merely 'didn't know her place as a student' and 'know it all', absolutely no coaching, just gone. This school will kick you out because they don't like you, and they can do it legally because they are a for profit.
The worst experience I have ever encountered. The most unorganized program you can imagine. Half the time we did not have an instructor, then when we did they would quit in the middle of our semester! Our pediatric clinicals were held at a daycare! I completed a whole semester only to be told that technically I should not have been allowed to progress to the second semester or third because I had received a 74% instead of 78% in anatomy in the FIRST semester!! I had written a letter of extenuating circumstances due to my fathers death and my mothers diagnosis of pancreatic cancer during the first semester and the DEAN of the NURSING program stated to me..Life happens and you should have dropped out of nursing school when your father died..., wow, not the kind of an example a DEAN of NURSING should be setting, and not the kind of one I want to follow. She dismissed me from the program, which was fine, would be embarrassed to have a degree from that school!!
The admissions guaranteed Expariance Exceptionalism in the quality of instructors, this is a lie!!! The instructor and chair of the HIT has no Expariance, knowledge, or practice in this field along with the subjects needed to pass the RHIT examination. This college IS waists of time, money and energy Do Not go to Fortis College Ravenna,Ohio Check out all the reviews by past, and current students. None of them recommend this college. Reported to College Affiliates and corporate. No changes ever made.
The people at the intake are great and very friendly etc, once you have signed up and they get your student loan money the fun begins, 1/2 of the teachers don't care and allow the class room to be an unruly chaotic disaster ( almost akin to a tsunami, students yell ,they cuss and tell each other off at top of lungs ,its ghetto at best) sadly for those of us who want to learn hearing what the teacher has to say is next to imposable. I had a clinical instructor fall asleep and students were laughing and taking pictures of teacher asleep on job. Students openly cheat and teachers read emails and play on phones during test time its twilight zone at best. The dean is nice but I feel he is obvious to the situation and should sit in on more classes and or ask the teacher to leave class every now and then ask us, the people who make his pay check possible what we feel about how we are treated and taught!
The school is a scam! Instead of them changing the policy and holding the new people who attended after the change accountable, they held the senior class on down. At this point, we're all too far in debt to pull out, not to mention, many schools won't even except the credits. Calling the corporate office is a joke! the owners obviously don't want to hear about the issues because they send a rep that is friends with the administrator. Nothing is solved. There is a student still there who has been harassed by an INSTRUCTOR with proven text messages in an attempt to get her thrown out and she was allowed to stay. Also, another INSTRUCTOR at the same location tried to fight a senior nursing student. The owners obviously just care about the money! Otherwise, how could they send a representative to handle such serious matters. These are not accusations but proven facts! The student is still there because she can't afford to pull out so far in the game. Unreal. Her name is Joyce. The news should get involved so that NO one else has to go through these issues. IT's unfair!!!!!!!!!STAY AWAY!!!!!!!
I would not recommend anybody Fortis on campus. The instructors are real cold hearted. I lasted the first module and wanted an increase on my loan.after I signed for a loan increase they forbid to give me my money.
This school is a scam. The professors are instructed to fail at least one person per quarter. My professor last semester passed everyone in the class. She was a great instructor and all of my classmates including myself passed our exit exams for the class. This professor was fired! The turnover rate with professors is very high. The fast pace of the class is difficult for professors to pickup if they have not done that before and most have not. My cohort started with 30 people in it. We have three months left and there are only 10 of us left. Most of those people are from the cohort ahead of me and have been held back. Your grades in the class don't matter. Your testing percentage is the only thing that lets you move on. Get a back professor one term and you're in trouble. Administration messed up on my financial aid multiple times. I attended the school for over a year and they said they had no paperwork on me. The person in admission didn't send my paperwork in. Six months later they called me in and said the same thing. They cashed my check every month that's for sure. My professor this term refused to meet with me. One class that we only attended 5 times all term, gave us a worksheet and no instruction for 5 hours while we sat there and did a fill-in the blank. Standards and policies change every term. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money here.
Some of the teachers at Fortis are great but others are HORRIBLE! Pediatrics course was taught very poorly and the teacher could care less about you education and your future. After talking to administration they seemed to care as much as the teacher did. Spend your $40,00 else where and go to a different school that cares about your education.
Stay away from Fortis Nursing program! Your homework, quizzes, or case studies won't help you if you needed 1 point to pass a class. The passing grade is a 78 for each nursing course and all your exams as well as your overall class average has to be a 78 also. The staff won't offer any help if needed! Beware!
I know from experience. I am a graduate from this school. They do not support their graduates. I have not received a diploma from this college even after graduating. This is supposed to feel like a big accomplishment for me, but somehow, this school has made me feel like a failure. They will not return my phone calls nor am I able to get in contact with anyone about anything. There goes the "support after you graduate" line I was given after signing up. All you get when calling the school is an operator, which transfers you to whoever, then a voice mail. This has been mostly my entire experience; not being able to get in contact with the proper channels when needing to resolve an issue. Throughout the program, there were only a handful of instructors who were actually of any assistance. Not only that, but when getting out there networking with other graduates in my field from better colleges, they had been trained in areas I knew nothing about. When asked a question about a subject in the field, I felt completely embarrassed when I wasn’t able to respond. I feel like such a looser for choosing this college. Something really needs to be done about these diploma mill schools just out there to use students by telling them what they want to hear to sign them on, then providing substandard services and education; all the while laughing their way to the bank. This entire system is failing in the educational department and not a d** thing is being done about it.
