The Dental hygiene program at Fortis College in Atlanta needs to be investigated and shut down by CODA.There are so many unlawful and unfair acts being conducted against the students by the instructors and Program director Valarie. The key to succeeding in this program is to become Dr. C a** kisser. If not you are on the s**** list and your road to success will be very difficult or even short lived. She will create new rules along the way that will keep the shit listers from passing so that you can be kicked out.The instuctors have been threatened with their jobs to follow suit. There is clearly a power struggle amoung instructors, there is no consistency as it relates to the staff or the curriculum. The atmostsphere is very stressful, cutthroat and choatic. The instructors are very messy and would rather talk about you than help you. I could go on for days about this place!!! If you are looking for a program with an enviroment that is conducive to learning, this is not the place!!!!!!!!
Fortis is like any other college. Those that are bitter and bitching obviously FAILED. Like any school you attend if you do not apply yourself you going to fail. Many Many students have passed are in successful careers and the Instructors they do care. The new Instructors, President, Dean etc they have are the best. They are well educated have Doctorate Degrees. They teach well. The students who do not make it are the ones who are degrading the school and faculty....and MOST OF YOU'LL WHO COMPLAIN ARE COMING FROM OTHER COLLEGES WHERE YOU HAVE FAILED BEFORE...SOME OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
This school tells you what ever you want to hear about the school just to get you to enroll!!!! They take your money...and alot of money that is!! they are currently in the process of being on probation because only a very small percent of students even pass!!
This school is not worth anybody's time that actually wants to go into nursing. They are money hungry and are always finding ways of kicking out students for stupid reasons. My experience there has been horrible and I would never recommend anyone to go there. It is a sad excuse as a school. Even when you drop out they want you to pay more money for whatever reason and they do not let you know what the reasons are for the payment that is due.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I have heard of worse complaints from other nursing schools in the area. With Fortis, I got what I came for. I'm a LPN. I plan to return this fall for the RN program because it is the quickest way to reach my goals. Some of my instructors were awesome and went above and beyond to ensure we understood the concepts. Some just lectured and assigned homework and told us to read the book if we had questions. There is going to be problems anywhere, there weren't many here that I couldn't ignore.
I attended this school for the Medical Assisting Program. You could tell that the school was not up to date with their software or equipment, yet they charge 16,000 to be apart of the program. The instructors were not informative, they were never even in the classrooms or late, but they dock your grade for being 3 minutes late. The students were loud, played around, fought, they werent there to do work. It was like a middle school. I found my own externship, because the offices they were trying to send me to were just ghetto! I was very disappointed. I would not recommend this school or the staff to anyone.
Please read CAREFULLY. Its to late for me to turn back as I am already into my nursing classes. This is a for profit college. They will sign up anyone just to get their financial aid money and as I have heard it said many times they start weeding out the students. This practice is called.... you fail 2 classes and your out. One can be a non related nursing course and another could be a core class. You are at the begging mercy of the staff to stay in school. Secondly the staff is what most would call bottom of the barrel instructors. Calling them LAZY is kind. To get any help is like pulling teeth and beware if you stand up and say something you are a trouble maker! They offend forget who pays their salary. I have seen many good students sour and drop out because of reckless teachers who would rather see you fail them spend 10 minutes trying to help you. You are on your own, don't let admissions tell you different. If you don't believe me just ask to see both bathrooms......do they look neat and clean? You would think being a nursing college they would encourage cleanliness. Not the case here. Finally before you sign call the board of nursing ask them what status Fortis Largo is in. We are and have been under probation because students are not able to pass the boards. Do you see a theme here? And last but not least is our wonderful dean of nursing.....she is an ordainment and will do nothing to help you succeed. You have been warned.
I had to change school because one teacher could not do there job! Have a learning disability and this teach made no point to help me what who so ever! I would not recommend this school to anyone.
I attended this school with regards to furthering my education and their entire curriculum is way off dated and completely useless....utter waste of time and opportunity...
Success in this program is all about the student's discipline and initiative. The recruiter I had, J. W., was incredibly honest about the program, almost to the point that I had second thoughts. The reason he described how grueling the program could be was because he only wanted students that would succeed. The program itself had lots of issues when I was going, but they were just growing their programs. Like all nursing programs, they can't teach you everything, but what they do attempt to do is to give you the best base of information you'll need to become a successful and safe nurse.
