"Stay away from this school. They will give you a nice song and dance to get you to apply but it's all smoke and mirrors in the end. By the time the true colors show it's too late to leave. You can't work and go to school at the same time like they say. In the orientation they boast about how flexible the program is but then they change your afternoon to mornings and put you in a class from 11-1, leaving you no room to work your job. Clinicals steal your entire day/week and your hands are tied and all you're allowed to do is push pills and wipe ass. During class hours administration is always on you to complete a survey for this and that and if you don't do it then that's grounds for expulsion. What I noticed is that the dean was most concerned about petty things such as uniforms and badges on few people when others wore clothing that was not approved. In the beginning it is all "come over here and we'll work with you and it'll be fun..." when you're in it was, "do this or you will be kicked out..." The dean is a joke. At face value she's like "I care and I want you to succeed." In reality she has no clue why she's meeting with students when it was her that set up the meeting. She's on the phone and talking to others through her door and preparing to leave for the day while meeting with students. (personal experience twice) They boast about a 100% graduation rate but in reality it's less than half. In my cohort we started with over 30 students and before capstone there were only a few left, 6-10. That goes back to another lie they push; small class sizes, plenty of one on one help from professors. More often than not, we were having to find extra chairs and tables to accommodate the high number of students. Not only were the rooms small and loud they were hot and stuffy from being overcrowded. Classroom walls are very thin and you are distracted by the class next door. There is no pharmacology professor so they employ anyone with a degree. The pharmacology class is a joke, all cohorts fail that class, the only people who pass that class are the ones who are repeating it from the term before. There was this horrible professor who would condescendingly reply with another question when a student asked a question or for clarification. During lecture you're taking notes on lecture and reading text and taking notes on text then during test time questions come from left field. You study hours on end and you know the particular system in and out and you're tested from what seems to be a whole different text thus making it easier to fail. Fortis College is a predatory school. Their credits are not recognized anywhere else so if you wanted to transfer you are out of luck, you just have to start over from the very beginning, you lost out on two years of your life and ended up with a huge bill. Stay away! The career counselor tells you only what you already know and tells you to visit this or that website and apply. When you see potential students touring the campus all you want to do is tell them to run, don't do it."

"Please save yourself and do not attend this school. This is the worst school one of my biggest mistakes ever was to continue going to this school. The teachers are awful and do not know how to teach and could care less about you . During my time here we went through several different new instructors because the last one kept getting fired. Very unprofessional and rude instructors. Even the lead instructor would always say its your money you can do what you want here which meant go ahead and fail its out of your pocket. They do not care about you. It is like going back to high school or middle school they accept any person to attend the school, literally anyone so it was hard to focus with a bunch of reckless immature people who didnt even care to be there. This school is completely focused on your money. Every program is so over priced. And the financial aid lady rushes you and makes you sign a bunch of paperwork so quickly without explaining anything then you get called down during class because you owe 567$ payment that you had no idea about and wasnt even informed. Shes even apart of the whole scam. Everything about this school is awful. I hope they shut down."

"I am in the bridge program for my RN and I can't stress this enough...don't join. Go anywhere but here. You'll be doing yourself a major favor financially and mentally. The girls I have class with act like it's Jr High and High school all over again, trying to be the most popular and what's sad is the instructors are the second way. The students I can over look (but please grow up) but when instructors bash on each other and on the DON to the students, it's a different story. The pre-reqs are your normal standards for most schools but we just sit there looking at slides and having the answers to the exams given to us on study guides. The school does offer study sessions with some instructors, which are the same ones who give you the answers because they don't understand how to explain how you get the answer in the first place. I'm in my second quarter and want to transfer out, but of course I'm stuck paying either way. Between the students drama over BLM/DACA/Presidential debates with one another and with some of the instructors, it's hard to learn anything. I've taken my complaints up with the DON and all she did was shrug her shoulders and wanted names of the girls. Went to the president, since I'm paying $44,000 out of pocket I wanted to see some change. Nothing happened. Next day in class all I heard about was how there was a snitch in the class by the instructor. Ridiculous. Please, grow up and be an adult we're trying to become nurses, act like it. I work 3 12 hour days a week and go to school full time. There isn't much homework in the pre-req classes, so that's doable. Just make sure you do extra at home or unless you want the answers given. UPDATE: Since my post/review I have been contacted by some Fortis administration from off campus, he assured me it will be handled accordingly since this is not the first or second time it has happened."

"DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!They all about money. Teachers don't know the material they're teaching. They talk and teach you like your in high school. Teachers always leaving their room for minutes at a time when they suppose to be teaching. They have the same three teachers teaching three different subjects. Teachers only been in there field for 5 years and teaching classes. You credits DO NOT transfer to any another colleges. Your better off going to a four or a two year college. I would not recommend this college to anyone else."

First, the college is extremely overpriced for the education received.Second, professors and deans do not respond to calls, texts, emails or communicate when contacted without multiple efforts which may or may not result in a response. Finally, gainful employment is very difficult with a fortis certificate."

"Ok, let's start off by stating the obvious that Fortis is a FOR PROFIT school. Which means that they want to make money off of you. This in turn means that they will accept EVERYONE that applies to them. If you have a pulse and a checkbook, or can take out student loans, then you're admitted. The nursing program when I started was $42,000. That's right, more than a years salary for most people. I paid $17K from cashing in my 401K and took loans to pay the rest. This is where Fortis gets you. They won't accept any college transfer credits unless they are really recent. So for all you out there that took Biology 10 years ago, get ready to fork out the money to take it again through Fortis. FIne, I thought, no big deal. So basically if you don't have recent college credits to transfer then you spend your first year doing all of your pre-requisite courses for nursing. Basically, $20K to take english and some science classes. Finally you get to your nursing courses. By the way, did I mention you can only retake courses a couple of times? Now it gets good. You have to pass all of your pre-requisite classes with a C or better in order to move on, If you have to do a retake for maybe english, then when you get to your nursing courses, you're pretty much sunk. I happened to get really sick over a year into school. I spent 9 days in the hospital so I had to drop a course, then retake it. And, I was doing my online classes on my laptop while in the Hospital. Not really fun when you're in kidney failure, IV in your arm, and feeling terrible but still having to complete my classes. Fast forward a few months, I got sick again and had to have surgery. Again, drop a course. Now you get a notice that you are being dropped from the program, but are still eligible to reapply. By the way, you have to pay a fee to reapply. See where I am going with this? So at the end of the day, I spent $17K of my hard earned money, borrowed $22K and didn't finish. Now I have to pay my student loans back, and the best part? NONE OF MY CREDITS FROM FORTIS WILL TRANSFER TO MY LOCAL COLLEGE. So I wasted my time, and a tremendous amount of money for nothing. Stay away from this place."

"Fortis College in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio has a wonderful nursing program! I'm proud to attend this college. It is a very challenging school and it needs to be. If you plan on becoming a RN peoples lives depend on you so yeah a challenging school is a good school right? The teachers really try to help as much as they can. The simulation experience is awesome. I couldn't of asked for a better program. The new dean of nursing Teri Chapman is absolutely wonderful! She will fight hard to help you. Also the previous dean was amazing as well Mrs. Greg. Deb chase and Mrs. S. are wonderful and very helpful as well as kind. This team tries so hard to help make your college experience great! Fortis is expensive but you know this from day one. They have you meet with financial aide before you even get admitted to the school. They go over the total cost of attendance for your entire degree before you sign any enrollment forms. I'm so happy to have graduated and landed my dream job as an RN and now I'm continuing my BSN through Kaplan online. Best decision I made attending this school. Thank you Fortis College for helping me achieve my dream!!!!"

"First I would like to say I received my ASN and through the grace of God and his son Jesus I made it out. So the words I speak are not from a place of anger but is simply the truth. Fortis Montgomery East Dale, Is truly not a school you want to attend. I have watch some of the most intelligent people fail classes. When two or even seven fail a class maybe its the student. But when you have entire classes failing its the instructor. No one can make it out of the medical surgical classes, I mean the last four or five classes (entire class except one person fail) and some of these people have taken the class multiple times. It was so bad they gave do overs without charging. They fired a bunch of people. Didn't help because no one is looking at the real problem. The students are not being taught. I feel I made it because of Jesus, and the resource my aunt gave me who is a nurse. But for the price you pay you should be able to get all your resources from them."

They truly care about each student. The level of education and training that has been provided to me has beyond exceeded my expectations. I have gained so much knowledge and felt more than prepared to take the MBLEX as well as start my career. As you near graduation career services helps you with resume writing, interview preparation and job placement. They go above and beyond as well. I was not confident in giving my resume out to potential employers until they showed me how to write an effective, short to the point resume that I am proud to hand out. I really cannot thank the Fortis Staff for the tremendous job they do and the profound impact they have had on me."

"Fortis Smyrna...I've read the other reviews and I felt the need to submit my own. In every place in life, you get out of it what you put in. There was a lot of turmoil and a lot of frustration with staff, but there was a huge lack of effort from so many students. Attitudes of ALL kinds and a mix of character. The students ranged from 20-50 yr old avg of 20 somethings... maturity is only that of the beholder and it is not "high school" it is life! Every school has its ups and downs, but I truly believe that I received a top notch education. Gossip is everywhere and what you see is not necessarily what is going on behind closed doors, good and bad. Everyday in my career I can still hear my instructors voices pushing me to be better, stronger, and more confident in my abilities. The students are all coming from different stages in their life and looking to succeed as best they can in their situations. Even the turmoil helped prepare me for "real life". I am grateful to EVERY instructor, even the one I hated the most. They taught me that most important in life is, seek and you shall find. If you can see obstacles as opportunities you will go far. I'm a huge fan of Fortis and the HYG program. I never agreed with the crap and want/ed this program to thrive. But it is a young department in which every term they seek to grow and improve. I believe that the biggest problem at Fortis, like everywhere else, it is run by humans. Ppl make mistakes and some are bullies and some are sweet and caring and helpful and bottom line, no matter how they go about their tasks, EVERYONE there truly does want the students to succeed! I'm thankful for Fortis Smyrna and I highly recommend this program. Don't read into all the bullsh** because everyone experiences everything differently. Ms. JL, I thank you for teaching me to shut my mouth and just say yes ma'am, I'm a better person and a great hygienist bc of it! BTW, the school part of your career is only the beginning... in practice is where you really are the RDH! Good luck!"

"Dental hygiene program in Fortis College brought me to a complete new way of life: knowledge, professional skills, organization, speed and confidence in my profession). All the hard work that I invested into this program paid me back. With a new DH program director Mrs.G., the overall experience in this school was great. She does go an extra mile for every student. She will help to bring all your potential to maximum degree. Instructors are well trained and always put an effort to help students every time they asked for. I know this school very well since it was Medix as I graduated there in a dental assisting program. Mr.F. was my master instructor. He trained and motivated me highly that dentistry is in my blood now. Later I decided to go same school to achieve a higher degree in dentistry. It was some bumps at the beginning as the DH program still was a new one at this school. So I am an RDH now. You cant imagine how thankful I am to my director and instructors of Fortis college, my financial aid people who helped me to overcome all barriers in order to become a licensed dental professional in a state of GA. THANK YOU!"

"I'm so happy to say I'm no longer a student at the For your Money college, this school is a TERRIBLE place to invest your time and money, people walk off the street with no prior teaching experience and become a full time teacher on your dollars, are teacher constantly told use to Google are questions because she didn't know the answer because she never read the book that she was teaching from, I had teachers that would become angry if you asked questions period, I was told by serval faculty members that this is a self learning environment and you can teach yourself more than I can would laugh and walk away as if my time, future and money was a joke. The Dean of nursing is a narcissist that is just as less resourceful when you have a issue with your educational rights, don't go here with any expectations of passing the NCLEX unless you have outside help go check out the turn over rate for there instructors and passing rates for NCLEX I surely wish I knew these small helpful tips before I went, I had no previous background in nursing but always had a passion for caring for others and decided to attend that CIRCUS act. They have no working lab equipment, nor practical stimulation equipment that they promised when you do your walk through, the teacher didn't believe we needed to wear gloves during needle sticks and told us to do as we pleased during lab time, she would lie about students to other faculty members so they would give those students a hard time as well, they applied for sometime of grant which was a COG grant and later I found out this was illegal because I wasn't a associate degree student but they got the money, I graduated and was on the Dean's list for 3 terms and still had to take the NCLEX 2 times before I passed it, now that I'm working after only applying at 6 different facilities because not a lot of places hire graduates from Cincinnati Fortis because of there reputation of being incompatent, lacking in qualified skills, and there inability to train their students at the appropriate nursing entry level. Last but not to say the least when we went for our clinicals the sites would not even allow for us to do patient care because what was said was that a past instructors told one of there on staff nurses that we had experience with needle sticks and insulin injections and when several students where ask by the Director of Nursing before being allowed to perform the procedure what was the actual process of the procedure no one knew the correct degree of inserting the needle the Director told the instructor we can always observe but would not be allowed to perform the procedure because of the patient risk factors, the same instructor told us in the next class she forgot to show us what to do and if we had read the book the procedure some student said yes so she tried to encourage us to do it on each other, with no one willing to do it she became upset and said if you don't do it here we will not be allowed to do it at the facility!!"
