"Hamilton had some wonderful things about it and some terrible. It is a tiny school so you need to be prepared for that small environment, but on the other hand it creates a very hands on intimate educational experience. You will not get lost in a lecture hall because the classes a small, interactive, and attendance counts towards your grade. The upside is that you get to know your professors very well. The educational experience definitely expanded my mind, made me think about and examine the world differently, excited me, and improved my writing skills, but it did not prepare me well for any specific job. There wasn't much help in career services. The campus is absolutely idyllic, but the surrounding area is really desolate. The nice thing is that this ensures a tightly knit community that remains on campus, but their is no outside culture or diversions to turn to if you are looking for that. If you don't study abroad, you are very restless by your senior year. My major negative has to do with disability services, or lack thereof. I have a medical disability and the school gave me absolutely no support or accommodations. I was forced to drop classes because my attendance was spotty and I was not allowed to walk at my graduation because the completion of my thesis was delayed a month. I felt punished rather than helped. This was back in 2002-2007 so I they may have (I hope they have) altered their response and disability services provided, but if you have a disability you definitely need to research that before making a decision. Despite the difficulties I faced, I would still say I really enjoyed Hamilton overall."

"Cliquey, preppy, outdoorsy. Very small and isolated"

"Hamilton College offers a rigorous, well-rounded and just fantastic academic experience. I loved the four years I spent at Hamilton. The community is extremely friendly and down-to-earth. Faculty are experts in their subject matter, and furthermore they are passionate about what they do and the subjects that they teach. It is common to become close to your professors, and to stop in their offices (during and outside of "office hours") for professional advice, lively debates, or just to say hi. Aside from the small class sizes and engaging and relevant lessons which will ensure that you leave with a strong foundation in writing, speaking and analytical skills, the school itself has so much to offer. From the variety of clubs and on-campus activities, to the fellow students who are all individual, quirky and passionate in their own ways... I cannot speak highly enough of what you can gain from your experience. If you want a top-notch liberal arts education and interesting, fun, and awesome people to learn with, well, you will get it at Hamilton."
