I was working as an aircraft structures mechanic and wanted to do more on the aircraft and advance my career. So I took the Aircraft Mechanics course and was given two years to complete it. I did it in 9 months, studied hard ever day. It opened doors for me at work. I was allowed to cross train into other aircraft trades and then became an aircraft parts manufacturing inspector. So it has definitely helped me in my career advancement.

Honestly I am not sure why everyone has had so much trouble with ICS... I received electronic and physical copies of all lessons. I also received other materials for learning (Dvd's, Books, etc.). You pay your Bills on time, you keep a proper study regiment and you learn? The school was always available and quick to respond when I needed help. Regardless, this class was very informative and it did help me with my career. I can't honestly say every course is good, but this was definitively was and if you are motivated and care it would absolutely get you in the door working with animals. When I needed help it was there right away. I guess if you have an extremely restricted schedule and cannot afford the monthly plan you are going to have a hard time with ICS, but that goes for any post secondary school. I would recommend this to people who work full time and do not have the time to go to a nearby College. I love the fact that I can study on my own time and it will help progress my career. It obviously is not for everyone, but if you meet the criteria - go for it!

Great online school for those who cannot have the time to actually attend classes. The materials I used was somewhat a mixture of USA and Canadian materials but I must say that they were not outdated. The materials was all updated to include all the Cdn taxes, payroll and small business. My experience was very good and I will certainly recommend this school

Everything was great and then I made my last payment. When I went to write my final exam online I was locked out of it. Everything has been paid for and no one will give me an explanation to why I can not finish my last exam and they refuse to refund my money. Horrible company!

I enrolled in those program after seeing their ads on tv that state " all materials and study guides are supplied". After I received my student ID I registered online only to find out that were no materials or textbooks supplied. I had to print every lesson and exam myself as it was impossible to complete the course without doing this. There was information in two different places and it was impossible to use both without having one printed out. Total waste of money. I only completed one lesson and they kept 50% of my tuition plus registration fees. Such a scam!

Seeing that you have a degree in business, where would you recommend going?

I also have taken courses through ICS Canada and PennFoster Global. The one course I took was for administrative assistant and all my study guides were online only. I have no problem with this - I simply downloaded them onto my computer or read them while logged into the site. I would rather they do that to be honest as its better for the environment, saves shipping costs, and no packages to look for at the mailbox. The other courses I took however (interior decorating, high school diploma, and now an associate degree in fashion merchandising) all have materials and textbooks that they have sent to me (including study guides).

Also - reading the fine print is important to everything we sign up for - not just online education. It says quite clearly how the refund policies work should you opt to not take the course.

I found ICS Canada / PennFoster Global) very useful as an introduction into a field of study and have learned a lot. I like that I could make my own schedule, work at my own pace, and study wherever I happened to be (very useful when I went on an extended trip abroad).

Are there problems? Yes. There were times when I wished my instructors had been in my area instead of having to call or email them. The one was awful at getting back to me - but for the most part, if I just went back and carefully read the material often I found I didn't need to contact an instructor at all. The times when I did have to contact them I found them very helpful and the problems got straightened out quickly. But they are still a distance learning institution - and as such it is far less "hands-on" than a regular college would be. However they make up for this by being far less expensive than a regular college / university.

The only complaint is that someone had to print off their own stuff??? Lol

There's got to be something better out there!

I studied electricity in college when I was young but recently learned that I have no transcripts as there was no law to protect them before 2005. When I learned that I had nothing to show in way of transcipts, therefore no proof of any education, I was left with little recourse. I turned to ICS out of pure desperation to have some proof of my proficiency in the electrical trade. I'm not impressed with ICS. The "Canadian" electrical course is very USA information based. It includes tools of the trade as part of the package but they don't send the type needed for electrical work in Canada. Also, the tools are of the cheapest quality possible. The course material is somewhat backwards from how we do it here especially some of the math information and if you have an issue trying to figure out what they are trying to tell you good luck getting any help. I didn't expect too much to tell the truth but I truely anticipated more than was given for the cost. I'll repeat another review, "if you have no other choice and you have to try something then go for it". If you are at all able to go to a proper school DO IT! If you have no previous experience in the elecrical trade or have taken no other courses regarding math or methods for electricians I suggest you don't waste your money because if it were not for my previous experience I would have been totally lost with this program and ICS was not there to help at all.

The only person I would recommend this school to is to someone who wants a small chance at bettering their career because of the financial options.. This is the second time I have used the school. I did bridal consulting, not the best industry to try and get ahead in and this time I am doing pharmacy assisting. This program doesn't necessarily lead to the success of the student. You must be really motivated to study hard and learn the materials as you can ace this structure without working too hard. You must be aware that this isn't like going to college or university. And you will learn a lot more and become more hirable if you go to a college or university. But if you can't afford it and need to take a chance to get ahead, then take it.

I finished residential electrician diploma program. The materials are up to date. Am full time working with the diploma I obtained from ICS.

Some people and students are bias to the college, but I can recommend it to any body who wants to improve their standard of living with less tuition.

Being a student does not mean you have to rely solely on the school material, but read more from other sources.

If you aren't a Journeyman, you aren't an electrician. The only way to become an electrician is to apprentice and go to a provincially ACCREDITED SCHOOL. These people are scum of the earth.
