"ISU can be anything you want to make it. The services are there for students but don't actively reach out for you to use them. There are fantastic faculty and some that are less than to be desired. The location and atmosphere of the town are fantastic and the university definitely gave me a degree that is worth something in the long run. ISU is a fantastic state university that will prepare you for desired fields but could also help its students out a bit more."

"If you are looking to attend ISU for the Geomatics Program, look else where, better schools and better Professors who want to teach instead of some Professors at ISU who just want to collect a paycheck and do the minimum work. I attended this school for the Land Survey and Geomatics Program. The program is small which allows students to have more one on one time with Professors. I was excited at first with the classes, however as time went on, I became more discouraged the way the courses were taught and non existent passion by one to even teach. The courses are poorly taught, 95% of the time the student is teaching themselves on how to do the work assigned and is are not taught the correct way by giving examples. Some classes are only once a week and scheduled for 3 hours, a student is lucky to be in those classes for 1/4 of the scheduled time. Some Professors do not like to teach, but will read the book to you in class and expect you to know what you are doing by them reading the book to you. Others do not even know how to operate the equipment that is recommend to use for assignments. What is sad is that students are paying a huge amount of money to attend this school and to learn as much as they can about their degree by professionals, they are paying for a service, however this service in this program is very poor. Not all the Professors, but some act like the students work for them. I feel bad for the online students who are paying the same and struggling from the lack of teaching in the Course Videos."

"When it comes to my education and what I learned at this school, I loved it and I am very grateful for it. Yes, there were a few professors in my general classes that were harder to work with, but the professors in my field of study were great and were always willing to lend a helping hand; even after graduation. I would recommend ISU to anyone, especially to those who prefer a smaller college but can still have similar experiences to those who attend larger universities. Remember, college is what you make of it."

"Great school and degree, loved Pocatello but not a great career network."

"ISU is a great place to really connect with professors and faculty. The only trick is that you have to initiate that connection. When you go out of your way to get help from a professor, ask about student organizations, or even how you can help out around campus, they'll definitely make your time better. There are also tons of internships that help students gain valuable exposure to the real world, and often land them full time positions. All in all, it's a great place to study."

"I didn't have the typical college experience as I started in my mid 20's. I was married for most of my college career so I was able to focus on school while my wife worked which was nice. I think that college is important if you have a specific goal and career in mind. I haven't had success with using my degree and currently work in a completely unrelated field. It is frustrating to be paying student loans and not even using the degree that I spent 7 years getting. If you do go to college find out a way to not take out loans."

"I hand picked Idaho State University as a Californian who wanted partially to get out of my home state, but I new I wanted to get my RDH/BS degree/ license from a highly regarded school in the country. I had a GREAT experience at ISU. I am still great friends with many of my fellow graduates. I am a dental consultant and speaker and some would consider me an "expert in the field" I take that as a compliment but am very humbled by it as well!"

"I went to a large university for my undergraduate work, so I enjoyed going somewhere smaller to get my Master's. I did not attend the main Idaho State University campus, but instead the Health Sciences campus in Meridian. Since there is no student housing for this campus, it made it feel even more like a completely different experience than undergrad. It was also an extremely affordable option for a master's. I was very happy with my graduate school experience."

"I have seen better programs in high school than this school. if you want a diploma mill then fine but do not expect to learn anything. Teachers show up to classes and say..hmmm what share we cover today?... When they do present things much if it is wrong. For example: you must master washing cells. the classroom teachers have no real lab experience and consequently have no idea what they are talking about. This is a total waste of money if you want to actually learn anything."

"The faculty at ISU is mostly wonderful. There are a few faculty members who are likable, but aren't very good at teaching. The entire faculty is very supportive and will work with students to ensure they meet their academic goals. The Meridian campus does not have the same resources the Pocatello campus has."

"Idaho State University is an amazing school. The campus is very nice and safe and everyone is so friendly. There are tons of resources to help students acclimate to the college experience and there is a ton of diversity here on campus. Being a Nursing major with a minor in Psychology, my program is very competitive, which is an awesome challenge for me."

"I loved my school very much. Sure, there are a few issues with advising that need to be worked out, but every school has at least one weakness. I think the biggest issue is that ISU needs to communicate better between departments. When you need something done it's often better just to do it yourself and follow up on all ends, don't ever expect anything to get taken care of. Overall though, the quality of my education was great and I felt very prepared. The campus is small which makes walking between classes a breeze, and it gives a community feeling. Idaho State also has many programs, clubs, and events that make your time in college memorable! I often went to concerts and plays on the quad, hiked up to the pillars overlooking campus, and enjoyed free movies at the Bengal Theater. The sports are decent, football is bad... Sorry guys, but other sports have claimed several division championships. However, if sports is either a top priority for scholarships or for entertainment, I would probably look into a different university. One of the things I loved about this university is how diverse it was. We are a non-traditional school. What this means is we have a TON of international students and students who range in ages from 18-65! It's neat to see learning in so many different faces, and from different places! It makes this campus culturally unique. Another great thing to mention is that we have a performing arts center that is ranked as one of the nicest in the nation. If you are into the arts, I suggest a play or musical performance! I needed to take out student loans because I had no savings for college, but Idaho State is actually a very reasonably priced school. You get a great value on your education; it's something you can feel good about! Even with rising tuition costs every year, Idaho State is well below many university prices. I suppose in the next few years unless something changes, prices will continue to rise, so take advantage while you can ;)"

"Idaho State University is an okay school to go to if you have no other choices. If you have the option to go anywhere else, I would greatly recommend doing so. Most of the professors/instructors are incompetent. They do not care if you learn what you need to learn. And from what I hear, they don't get paid enough to care anyway. The tuition is way too much for the education you get. The campus is scattered and not easily navigated."

"This is a very competitive program to get admitted to. There are less than 16 people in each class which really allows the faculty to get to know each person and help you in the best ways. They have an extremely high pass rate of the national exam, and being a 3 year program really allows them to prepare their students for the boards and the future as professionals."

"Like any PA program ISU’s is highly competitive. The workload is about what you would expect for a graduate level medicine program. It’s not easy, but it’s doable. The program and faculty are outstanding. Everyone is approachable and genuinely have the students’ best interest in mind. Pocatello is a typical small college town. The social scene isn’t amazing, but you can make your own fun. If you need a big city scene Salt Lake is only a 2 hour drive away. Because it’s a small town, though, the housing options are cheap and plentiful. Anyone would count themselves lucky to be accepted here."
