Degree: Communication, General

When I started looking for a Communication degree I knew that it would need to have a flexible schedule that could work around my family and my newly acquired full-time job. King University accelerated Bachelors of Science in Communication degree met all of those requirements and more. I live in North Carolina and commute to Knoxville attend class. People have commented that I must be really passionate about education to drive 225 miles one-way to attend class; however, Kings program is not only convenient but also affordable. Kings graduate and professional studies program offers online classes or meets, in person once a week to accommodate a busy working parent like me. The instructors were always knowledgeable and willing to work with students in the way they need to be successful. As an adult learner; the skills that I acquire can be applied immediately at work. Ive also been assisting my husband in bettering the advertising for his business as a carpenter. I will have earned my degree in only 16 months thanks to the accelerated degree option that gets me one step closer to my dream of being a communication instructor. I will start my Masters degree program in January and I feel like I have the needed knowledge and skills to thrive in that program thanks to King University!

King University’s online program is a perfect fit for on the go individual. The instruction is top notch and the classes are set up on a five week rotation. The average class size is not very large and allows the opportunity for conversations with your professors. The flexibility of the online classes allow you to do your assignments when you have time. Since King is a private institute you do not pay the large tuition prices you would at state schools, so this makes it very affordable. As a transfer student from a local community college I found that the 16 month program to gain your Bachelors in Communication is very concentrated and super structured. Success coaches check with you on a bi-week period to make sure you are doing well in you classes and if you need help. Plus, as an online student you never have to step foot on campus, or you can do like I did, take a ride down and get the grand tour. The admissions staff is amazing and very welcoming. The instruction, program structure and the constant support are what make this COMM program far and away the best around, so I encourage you to not only take a look at King University, but let the Christ centered values take you to the next level of your education.

I am currently enrolled in the online communication program at King University. King University has been the perfect place for me to earn my Bachelors of Science in Communication because the courses are 100% online. I work full time and I never thought I would be able to manage my career and earn my bachelor’s degree at the same time. King has made my dream a reality with their online courses designed for working professionals. King, an accredited college, allows students to easily and quickly earn a bachelor’s degree in about 16 months. My courses have taught me so much about all different types of communication, such as public relations, advanced speech, and leadership communication. Courses are taken once at a time for 5 weeks; once a course is completed students are moved on to the next course automatically. King makes it easy by having access to the best advisors and professors who are available when you need them. I would recommend the Communication program to anyone looking to communicate effectively and build their career.

King University’s’ Communication program online is the perfect fit for me. I am a single Mom with many responsibilities including working 2 jobs. I began school over ten years ago and was unable to complete it due to getting married and traveling with my husband I decided to leave my senior year after completing most of my Broadcast Communications courses. When deciding to return, there was no offering in the field of broadcasting online. A friend convinced me to look into Communication (Comm) which would enhance my personal and business communications. It made perfect sense. I have been working as a broadcaster for almost 20 years. I did not feel like I need additional courses in Broadcasting. I work in the ever changing field of broadcasting and I have not had any trouble changing with it. One thing that adults who decide to continue their education should consider is this, some colleges do not transfer credit if the credits are more than 10years old. It was very difficult to find a school who would transfer my credits. King was one that did. I looked at many reviews about the Comm program and I must admit, everything is exactly like I have read. The registration process was easy, I was walked through the process step by step. King is also a Christian college which means they can relate to me on a personal level too. The class schedule was very flexible. The cost is very affordable and the school is fully accredited. These things were very important to me as a person on a budget with limited time. After getting accustomed to the school blackboard you will maneuver with ease and skill just as I do.

When considering the accelerated online communications program at King University, there are many advantages and disadvantages for the adult learner seeking to achieve a Bachelor’s degree. Advantageous components include the convenience of completing the course work as your schedule allows, the flexibility of earning your bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in accelerated fashion, and being part of a faith-based institution which welcomes spiritual dialogue on behalf of both students and instructors. That being said, I found several disadvantages to the program that did not meet my expectations. Unfortunately for the working adult learner, the fast paced format and course load make it almost impossible to retain a majority of the information being taught. Perhaps a new college student who is not fully engaged in their career may have a different experience, since they could fully dedicate their entire attention to their program of study. I am certain that if I were a full-time student without work responsibilities and commitments, this program would have been more beneficial to me in the retention of communication content. Despite that I was unable to retain a majority of the information being taught, my ability to keep up with the busywork in each module allowed me to remain on the Dean’s list each semester. Like many of us who are working full time while attending class, many adjunct professors likewise worked secondary full-time jobs, which I feel limited their interaction and communication with the students. Feedback and grading was not always timely, which included questions pertaining to specific course assignments and content. In some instances, I received feedback on assignments too late into the course to incorporate the recommendations into my work for future assignments. That aside, all the professors were extraordinarily professional, knowledgeable, and helpful in assisting students in reaching their goals. Overall, I was able to successfully able to complete the Communication Program at King University and would recommend the program to others, especially those not engaged in full-time work commitments.

I am currently enrolled in the online Bachelor of Science Interdisciplinary Studies program at King University in Bristol, TN. My two disciplines are Psychology and Communication. Choosing a college is an intimidating decision. Trust me, I know the feeling. There are a thousand questions swarming around in your head and you need an honest resource for answers. That is why you are here today on this website, and I will give you honest and helpful feedback about King University’s online Communication program. I have been in the program for two semesters now and have two semesters left. I am so happy with my decision to attend King University, and especially happy about my decision to enter the Communication program. One of the first things that stood out to me about King University was the exceptional level of staff assistance and friendliness. I cannot say enough about the genuine kindness of the admissions office and their staff. A student worker introduced me to the Communication program during my first visit to campus. I had previously studied Psychology but I wanted to study something different, and after leaving the office that day I knew I wanted to be a Communication major. The admissions staff was quick to answer all my questions and help me get prepared. They were also of great assistance during the financial aid process. I had defaulted on previous federal student loans and had to seek a third party to consolidate, which required a lot of paperwork. The staff at King University was prompt and efficient in helping me gather paperwork. The financial aid was average, but easy to understand. The staff helps you understand your package and makes accepting your awards simple. I emailed someone two different times to change the amount of awards I wanted and she was quick to respond and change my package so I could edit it. I was in shock of how efficient they were. I have been to four different colleges across the United States (due to moving), and none can compare to the staff at King University. The online Communication program is adult oriented and fast paced. There is a new class every five weeks, which allows you to finish quicker. The professors know that you have a life outside of the classroom, so they make the workload realistic. Do not mistake the word realistic for “easy” because you cannot slack on the assignments or you will fail, it’s really that simple. The professor makes it easy for you to balance the load by providing a list of what is due and when. Typically half of the assignments are due on Wednesdays and the other half is due on Sunday. This schedule is great for me because it allows me to put homework off until the weekend if need be. However, you can also work ahead and have your weekend free. So, would I recommend King University’s online Communication program? Absolutely, I have finally found the place that is right for me. I wish you luck in your search and hope that you will do the same.

I am a junior at King University studying Communication through their online program. Being an adult learner and the mother of two young boys, I benefit from the flexibility the online classes offer. I like that the online program does one class at a time for a period of five weeks before moving to the next class. Having one class at a time allows you to focus on one subject and only worry about homework and deadlines for that subject. The Communication program is a great program to enroll in. I am in my second semester in the Communication program and have learned so much more than I thought I would this early on. The faculty and Professors in the Communication program at King are amazing to work with. They are there any time you need help or have questions. The Professors are clear about each assignment and really care about the education of their students. I would recommend King University’s Communication program to anyone. Whether doing traditional learning or online learning you are sure to get an excellent education through King.

Degree: Communications
Graduation Year: 2015

King University has given me the opportunity to earn my bachelor’s degree in communication. I work a full time job and needed the flexibility of accredited online courses to pursue my communication degree. I was 41 when I started my bachelor’s degree in communications. . You wonder why I went back to college at a late age. I needed something that was missing from my life. I was speaking with a colleague at work and she was talking about graduating with her bachelor’s degree in May of 2014. I was intrigued and asked her what college she had chosen and why. She spoke of King University and what wonderful programs they have. I started the research on many different online communications programs. First, I enrolled at Tennessee Tech. I wasn’t happy with the program itself so I transferred to King University. King University has been exceptional from the start. My advisors, teachers, and administrative staff have been more than helpful. The most helpful thing I have learned, if you email teachers with questions, they get back with you. They make suggestions and guide you through any problems you may have. The tuition is a little higher than some of the other online programs; however it is well worth it. My experience though out the process has been great. The classes are challenging and I have learned so much in the last two years working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything else in the world. I graduate December 12th.

I was really surprised by the amount of support I received from my professors. They are very willing to go above and beyond to help me succeed and honestly, many did. I fell the Communication department at King University is preparing me to enter the work force with confidence. My classes are challenging and intense, but fun, and most importantly I feel they have value in today's market.
