"Family and Child studies is an incredible program. It's sole focus is on people. The professors in the department are all absolutely wonderful and all of them have shown that they are willing to help and support any and all students complete the program. It genuinely is like one big happy family."

"Pros: Great teachers who really care about their students. Straightforward and helpful if you need assistance. Great program that is nationally accredited. Internship & Practicum offer experience that is important for career. Cons: Not many opportunities for scholarships at this graduate level. Hard to communicate with certain teachers (email reply is lacking)."

"I just starte, and I feel like the workload is significant for a quarter system, and I know there are higher expectations, so I am going to be prepared as I can be! But I overall like it! Great school"

"Tell us about your college experience. It was easy to get around campus, good student body, great teachers, peaceful if somewhat boring area.Would you get the same degree if you could start over?YesWhat advice can you offer other students?Start as general education and get your basics down first what you really want to do will come in time."

"The faculty are very accessible and helpful. Most of the classes are fairly small (20 max), so you are able to ask more questions. Some professors are trying to integrate more hands-on learning activities in the classroom, rather than the normal PowerPoint lectures. There is a variety of classes offered. However, if you also completed your undergraduate degree in Biology at LaTech, some quarters you may have to take a class(es) that don't interest you in order to get your credit hours. Another con would be that the non-thesis track is harder in the long run than a thesis track. Thesis only have an oral defense about their research, which you should know backwards and forwards by that point. Non-thesis have to complete written exams for each of their committee members, then have an oral exam with all three committee members asking you questions. There is no study guide!"

"Pros: -Supportive and Helpful faculty and staff -Academically competitive -There are so many fun activities going on on campus and students are updated by email -Living expenses are reasonable Cons: -Work load can be extensive if you are working full-time and going to school full-time -University Police aren't circling the campus so if you take a night class it's safe to walk out in groups -No public transportation is available"

"The pros include the professors being very helpful and openly wanting you to succeed. There is also great access to computers, printing, fitness centers, etc. The campus is located in a smaller city, with two larger cities within driving distance. The cons are that the university seems to be a little outdated in some areas/aspects; however, they are currently trying to upgrade many things on campus."
