"Going to this school has left me extremely bitter and angry. I feel like I have been scammed out of an absurdly high cost "education." There are some truly great professors at this school like Dr. Clay, but there are also some absolutely miserable professors like Dr. Hill, that are completely apathetic to anything that may happen to you. I had a lab TA send me a multipara graph rant that was extremely rude and insulting just for asking about my grade. When I went to the Dean about the email, the whole issue was blamed on me and swept away. Many people in Ruston will defend the school with their last breath, because the school is the life blood of Ruston. In reality, the school does everything in its power to cover up "inconveniences." Just do some research on all of the on campus sexual assault cases that were swept under the rug. Tech is a business first, and a school third or fourth, and it is a dirty business. Did you know Les Guice makes $350,000 a year to shake hands, smile, and tell his secretary to send out emails, all while you are paying $3,000+ a quarter so a professor can tell you to pay an additional $100 for Pearson just to do randomly generated homework that they have to put zero effort into grading? Did you know they make around $1.2 million from parking decal sales alone just so you can park in muddy, dusty, gravel lot where your car will probably get keyed or broken into? Did you know that once a year you are automatically charged an additional $50 for a year book that you probably aren't in nor will you get? Please do not go to this school. Don't go to college at all, it is a scam. Welders and electricians are in high demand, and they always will be. Going to Louisiana Tech is, and always will be, my biggest regret."

"Going to Louisiana Tech University was a great decision. Twelve years after attending there I can definitely tell you it is one of the most innovative places to be. I had no idea of the amazing value I would receive by being a student there. I saw technology while I was a student there, that it took an entire decade to see in mainstream America. I suppose that's the benefit of going to one of the top research schools in Louisiana. However, I didn't attend there because of that. My Dad went to LA Tech and its just a great feeling to carry on the LA Tech Legacy! LA Tech was a great place to attend college because I was able to focus on school and not get carried away with excessive partying."

"My time in the College of Education at Tech consisted of mixed emotions the entire way through. It was quickly apparent that the education program was geared toward early childhood and elementary education majors, leaving little room for secondary education majors like myself. I made "A"s in every education class I took because they were all fairly simple, including the quarter-long residency. However, I learned far more in my content area courses (AKA English courses) than in my education classes. The staff in the College of Education were all very friendly and personable. They were always smiling and pleasant to be around. Unfortunately, many programs were poorly managed due to lack of consistency and communication, hence the easy "A"s. No one person is to blame. The department just has several loose ends that need to be tightened, including adding more on-campus classes instead of forcing students online when they don't want to be."

"Louisiana Tech University was home away from home. Not only did I meet new friends & become close with the professors, I learned a lot on how to prepare myself for the real world. Louisiana Tech University is a growing college in a growing community but they make it a point to make sure you feel like a special individual, to help you with every step of the way & to make sure you get the most out of your education. The classes I took were always small/medium and I always had at least 2-5 people in the same classes throughout so I made great friends that I was able to relate with in my program and it also felt like family! Louisiana Tech University holds a special place in my heart & I will forever be grateful for the experience & lessons I was given along the way. GO BULLDOGS!"

"Louisiana Tech is provides not only a great education, but a great home away from home. I originally wanted to go to school closer to home, but after visiting Louisiana Tech I fell in love. At this school, you are not just a number. I found it amazing that all of my professors knew me by name and cared about me personally. Louisiana Tech also has one of the most hands on engineering curriculums in the state, which made learning very applicable in the real world."

"It is a diverse program that from the start you are actually taking engineering courses. You are partnered with others to understand and learn how to work as a team. If you are struggling in any capacity you are not thrown to the wolfs so to speak but if you are proactive and take the initiative all the support and assist you may need to build you strengths and lessen your weaknesses is available."

"Louisiana Tech University's undergraduate psychology program is a well-rounded educational program. The program offers courses to produce a wide variety of knowledge in the field of psychology. There are several options of graduate degrees to pursue in the field of psychology, and Louisiana Tech University does an excellent job of exposing students to each field in their undergraduate program. The program consists of professors who take pride in educating their students. The professors put effort into making sure each student is prepared for whatever the future may hold for them when they finish the psychology program. Overall, Louisiana Tech University's undergraduate psychology program is an excellent program."

"Overall the professors and staff are nice. School is affordable, program is crap. Hard to keep professors around long enough to have a program that is well defined. New professors are more interested in making a name for themselves and moving on rather than staying and building a sustainable program. I assume the salary is so low most professors can't afford to stay anyway. There is NO freedom in determining your direction of study. While most grad programs give you the freedom to explore and plan your study, Tech gives a strict outline of what you are GOING to study. If you are in the photography program and interested in making work not about Ruston you are out of luck unless you do it on your own time, during breaks rather than during school time. Most students have to rush away on Thursdays, make work and be back in time for class on Monday. Any other times are not available because class time will dominate your schedule. I have heard of other programs allowing students to take a week or so away to make work and then bring it in to be critiqued. here there is no such freedom. Both the quarter system and dominating control of professors are restricting to the point of suffocation. Students are told which classes they will take. In my case I had to take the same class with the same professor the entire three year length of the program ( nine classes) because they wouldn't or couldn't offer any other classes in my field nor grant me the permission for independent study. Grad students have duties such as gallery installation and de-installation which can be useful but many times the workload interferes with grad students study. Rather than making work, you are stuck doing installation or other work for the school. Students must help in these duties or you are threatened with being kicked out of the program. The variety of professors is lacking. Many areas of study only have one professor, i.e.. one painting, photography, drawing. Therefore you get only one point of view and must follow their view of what art is. Overall it is a waste of money, the affordability of the school is not enough to suffer through the horribly shallow program. If I could choose again I would not choose this program."

"The professors in my department were very helpful and friendly. They gave great instruction in the majority of the classes. Outside of the Kinesiology department professors are on both ends of the spectrum. Some were great and cared about students learning. Others not so much. The campus isn't very diverse although most students are friendly. All in all it's a good university to attend. And I would recommend it to others."

"Small classes, more intimate setting. Was able to spend more one-on-one time with teachers to go over questions and such. Campus small enough to be convenient. VERY POOR parking situation, and have heard that it has gotten worse in recent years. Beautiful campus. VERY conservative. Lots of rules about alcohol, opposite genders, living off campus, meal plans, etc. Good selection of food on campus. Town very small. Few restaurants, stores, entertainment, etc."

"I swore that I would never go to Tech being that I have been in Ruston most of my life, but it was the best decision I could have made. I enjoyed all of the things Louisiana Tech has and had to offer me from on campus organizations and clubs, to study tips and tools to use in the classroom. Never did a question go unanswered, nor did I ever feel like my needs were not met. I made plenty of memories and now have a degree from a very accredited university to start my career and am pursuing my Masters in the fall. Not to mention, the Alumni are most active and cool group of people to ever grace the campus. I plan to be apart of that. I am forever proud to be a bulldog. Go Dawgs!"

"My degree program was fantastic. I loved the time I spent at Louisiana Tech University. I had math professors that loved the subject just as much as I did, and would help me dive into the different aspects of mathematics. It is a great university and I highly recommend it to any one wanting to go to college."

"Louisiana Tech is an excellent school. As an alumnus who went to a more "prestigious" university to pursue my graduate degree, I can say that the amount of attention that each student gets at Tech is incredible. The university is serious about making sure that every student receives the attention they need to succeed!"

"Pros: Support and guidance of faculty members in this program, guidance for APA paper improvements, financial aid relatively easy, quality education meeting national standards, diversity of students, campus safety Cons: Needs to be more applied rather then content before practicum, access to certain teachers, lack of organization on moodle for some teachers"

"What I expect to gain out of the Kinesiology program at Louisiana Tech University is a top-notch, research-driven experience. The department of Kinesiology has nationally-known faculty members that will help me further my knowledge and passion, specifically for Sports Performance. My dreams and desires match perfectly with this program, and I cannot be more elated to be down there and join the exciting atmosphere. Although, Ruston is not one of the most safest places in the US, we have been bombarded with advice and where to live in the town. The hospitality that the faculty and staff have shown is extremely inviting, which makes even more comforting for my wife and I to travel 13 hours from our home to start a new chapter in Louisiana."
