"MSU Denver is an okay college . If your main goal is to save some money or work frequently while attending college this is for you ! It honestly won’t be my first choice because of the location ( moderate crime area ) . However the college of business is stellar ! The teachers are awesome but use rate my professor. The curriculum wasn’t too bad. There are also free food opportunities and great ways to get involved . The other downsides is parking is expensive and the light rail was 150 dollars per semester which can get super expensive . Avoid the bookstore if possible because they overcharge. Use Amazon or purchase directly on the Books publisher site . Overall a great place to start or transfer too ."

"Money grubbing school. You'll get charged an arm and a leg for parking over your time here. At least a few thousand dollars. I had counselors give me advice that resulted in having to retake classes I already completed, and the teaching was god awful all around. Terrible school."

"I went to take a post graduate certificate in Additive Manufacturing, 3D printing, it is more a subtractive manufacturing certificate and the 4D printing was not part of the course work which it previously was when I started my enrollment. I had to take classes I have over 25 years career experience, a course on how to operate a mill and a lathe, subtractive Manufacturing. Now I have to take a separate certificate in 3D printing. It was a waste of a semester taking courses I did not need, was experienced in or was interested in. Way to much work on these classes, that don't apply to additive manufacturing, those that have been in design, worked with CAD for years. Technical drawing, teaching mechanical drawing in autoCAD a very antiquated program meant for architecture. I was an architect for 25 years. I ended up teaching autoCAD to several student. They had a mechanical engineer that never used autoCAD for mechanical design teaching it."

"I would recommend attending other universities if perusing a Journalism degree. The department chair is rude and every one in the department covers for one another and do not listen to student concerns. Please don’t waste your time or money CU Denver and CU Boulder have both been accommodating to me would highly recommend those."

"It's just alright. If you are going for a very specific reason and know exactly what you need, it can be a good gateway to a better career and more money. If you are a first-generation student who have people in your life that say "go to college and do anything" you should really reconsider. It will not be until your senior capstone class that you will realize the realities of trying to break into a mental health career from a subpar school. You can get honors, even a 4.0 here, but it doesn't really matter because grad programs realize a high GPA at MSU Denver is not equal to high GPA at any other school. The teachers range from nice and helpful, to totally cold, bitter, sexist, and useless. You'll never make friends here and from my understanding living near campus is a horrible experience. My biggest gripe with the school is the insane level of forced diversity. Instead of focusing on important aspects to your degree, so much time is spent on politics even when it is not appropriate. That said, if you are someone who wants to try and create a career out of social justice you will likely enjoy your time here. Though, good luck finding more than minimum wage jobs or even an unpaid internship if you are immensely lucky. Ultimately, a B.S. in psych or any related social science is just as valuable from here than it is from some fringe online school no one has ever heard of."

"Mathematics majors are challenged and the school has some recognition for its mathematics instruction. However, other classes were far too easy. This is my second degree, which I am using to potentially teach one day. Compared to DU, non-mathematics courses were a complete joke. Students were constantly lowering the quality of instruction. The computer science department needs to stop pandering to students. Mathematics instruction is actually rigorous which was a nice change. You have to know your topics in and out after getting through the freshman courses, be able to write proofs, think critically, and take a few difficult grades. The staff stopped pandering to students and started to teach after the engineering and other students were out in their own programs. It was great. You learn quite a bit and the staff makes sure that you pick up everything they had to take out to meet the university's pressure to produce STEM graduates. You will be on par with the other state schools in your subject matter and even DU students. The attrition rate is quite high which is both noticeable and necessary."

"MSU Denver is absolutely terrible! Despite graduating with honors, this supposed university is the worst possible educational experience. The administration focuses on nonexistent problems, or creates fake problems to solve; instead of handling anything real. The joke politics run everything, as does apathy and forced diversity training, that only worsens problems. The professor’s are mostly awful, with extreme biases and little concern for students. There is no help at any level whatsoever and the advisers in my department offer no help, have been fired, then rehired, and are now even more bitter and useless. This school really damaged me and did everything opposite of what a college is supposed to do. I hope future students will read this and stay away from MSU Denver and go somewhere where they will be appreciated, instead of scarred"

"The financial aid is probably worse than the DMV, the process of trying to get anything from them is a nightmare and leaves you empty-handed. Everything is student ran, and these students aren't very knowledgeable, mostly just apathetic and are there for an easy job. I only chose this godforsaken school because my former Squad leader recommended it to me, and said it is veteran friendly. It doesn't do anything for vets except provide the occasional newsletter? Oh, and after four years I got a MSU veteran shirt, so there's that... Truly a miserable experience, and I wish I never gave them my GI bill when I could have used it somewhere much more prestigious. One saving grace is that I was able to save my last semester's worth of my GI bill that I will use to start a Master's at literally any other CO University than MSU Denver. If you are struggling to pay for school, as most of us are, thanks government, start at the community college then check out CSU or UCCS. It's not really cheaper but it's also not that much more for a much better education and college experience."

"I don't really have anything against MSU. It was the right place for me at a very specific time and when it stopped serving that purpose, I transferred to CU Boulder. If MSU is your only realistic option, it's a good school. This means that if you're going there because of budget or location or because it fits with your work schedule, I wouldn't caution against it. There are some really great faculty there and although it's definitely harder to make connections with other students/instructors, it's not impossible. That said, I can remember a handful of classes that were pretty off-the-rails in terms of the instructors not having it together. That, and more than a few classes that were egregiously easy A's that would have been challenging at most other institutions. It's good if you just want a degree. If you're planning on grad school or want an intellectual challenge, pay attention to whether this school is actually challenging you. I transferred to CU Boulder and the difference was so stark within the first semester that I'm a little upset at how much time I spent at MSU. The cost difference wasn't worth it. I think individual experiences vary a lot at MSU because there's less consistency among the faculty, and they're trying to crowd please because there's also less consistency among students (the student age range is usually between 17 and 35, most work, etc.) This is the benefit of going to a school where people are mostly in a similar place in life - some uniformity can be assumed, and the professors can expect more from each student."

"MSU Denver might be one of the worst schools I have ever been to. The advisors are recommending the wrong classes, the teachers are actively complaining about salary concerns, and the students could not be more apathetic. MSU Denver ruins it all. If you are a transfer student like me, look elsewhere. They will change your credit hours last minute before graduation to keep you enrolled. If you value time, money, and hard work, go literally anywhere else but MSU Denver."

"MSU gives me mixed feelings. On one hand they helped students out during COVID with computers, and resources. But at the same time, they ran out of money and then all aid stopped and the resources they gave were for basically homeless people through the state of Colorado and the average student couldn't qualify for that aid. I also had to extend my graduation date THREE times because the advisors never got my credits right. I was so frustrated because I kept having to stay in school and pay more for tuition costs. Their staff needs help too. They hired people for my majors department that either didn't have the time to commit to a class, or were under qualified and had no idea how to teach a class. I am left with a bitter taste in my mouth after these last few years at MSU. I don't think I would recommend it to anyone else. There are better universities that go above and beyond for the tuition you pay."

"MSU Denver provided the best environment for adult working students. I would highly recommend attending here if you are focused on a true education outside of the party college experience. The classes are smaller than most universities which provides a more focused and individualized learning. You also physically see the improvements and accommodations on campus that are paid by student fees which make you feel like your money is actually going towards the in betterment of the academic institution as a whole."

"I really enjoyed the opportunity to create my own degree. I went into every class very excited, and loved every single moment of all of my classes. I found my teachers interesting and helpful. I really enjoyed that MSU Denver was a smaller, commuter classes. There were endless options for my classes; Hybred, online, or in person. I was actually able to pay off a lot of student debt from another college by coming here. Zero regrets on becoming a Road Runner."

"After speaking to an advisor about the Masters in Education program, I was discouraged from applying. This advisor barely looked me in the eyes, came across as arrogant, and when I questioned what his experience in teaching was, he barely had any experience at all. He told me teaching was "a calling" but he did not convince me he was "called" to it since he sits behind a desk with barely any experience. I advise to get him out of there as an "advisor". He is doing more harm to the program. I have since signed up for another teaching program where I feel welcomed and appreciated."

"I cannot say enough good things about Metro State!! I had wonderful professors, who were genuinely interested in me and helped me whenever I needed it. As an older "non-traditional" student, I thought I might feel out of place on campus, but the oppostie was true! The campus is so diverse I felt right at home. It has a great energy, a great curriculum and I would recommend it to anyone! Don't waste your money on high priced schools! You get a superb education at this school! I loved it so much, I've returned to get my Master's!"

"I earned my bachelors degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2018. I attended Metro State University of Denver after earning my associates degree from a local community college. When beginning, I had aspired to become an elementary teacher, but I changed my mind approximately half way through my junior year. The more I took psychology classes, the more I knew I would rather work in the field of psychology, than in education. I would recommend MSU to other students and it is an affordable school. I highly recommend that you speak with an advisor after every semester to make sure you on the right track. I graduated with many classes that were not required for my degree, which was very frustrating."

"This school is such a strange hodge podge. On one hand it is wonderfully affordable and a great deal for some programs. Many of the classes I have taken outside of my major or other sciences have been great. This brings me to my main point, the biology and chemistry departments are ATROCIOUS. The chemistry department is particularly horrible because even though there are a couple okay teachers the overall structure and policies are very inconsistent and unorganized. The person who writes the lab notebooks doesn't have even a slight grasp on how to educate people and for someone who was just taking prerequisites and wasn't a chemistry major it was horrible to try to succeed no matter the effort I put in. It didn't matter what you did because the standards were extremely unclear and the lab manuals read as though written by a five year old. I majored in Biology and the same issues were systemic in this department as well although the course matter is a bit more intuitive so it is slightly easier to navigate the lack of consistency and organization. The teachers in the biology department are extremely hit and miss though some are okay and some are VERY BAD. It would also be nice if more courses were offered more often each semester and with a variety of teachers so choices weren't so limited. I had to stay for an additional 2-3 semesters (when you include a summer semester) due to the poor scheduling of courses and pure lack of options. Even though they have very little choice they provide no flexibility or substitutions even for students who are actively trying to succeed (they are very condescending and act like you are trying to circumvent "difficult" requirements when in actuality you are simply trying to compensate for their inadequacies). Overall I would say this is an okay institution. My minor was in Nutrition and those courses were great and the department as a whole was great. I also took courses in HCM and never had an issue. I also have a major issue with the advising staff for the biology department. They misinformed me and mislead me so many times that I just stopped going and had to figure it out myself. They also tried to give me "career advice" for the health care field which I have worked in for over a decade and I had to stifle laughter during the meetings. I would strongly caution anyone seeking a science degree in either biology or chemistry to reconsider attending MSU. Despite their beautiful science building and state of the art facilities the quality is just not there and overall my degree felt like and immense waste of time."

"Metropolitan State University of Denver was a great undergraduate college to attend. The campus is situated in downtown Denver and its a beautiful city campus. There is a light rail close and RTD bus routes close. It's easily accessible. There is on campus parking if needed. I found the classrooms comfortable and easily accessible as well. The staff was fantastic and I had great experiences with all my professors. There were plenty of common area options and on campus food options as well. I enjoyed staying on campus for lunch and coffee while studying. I would highly recommend MSUD."

"For a school with nearly 50,000 people enrolled you get a lot of hands on experience. They do their best to limit the number of huge lecture classes they offer and increase the number of smaller classes. You will know almost ever faculty member in your department and through the psychology department this is important. It opens up opportunities for you to participate in research and clubs that will prepare you for graduate school."

"This program is completely disorganized, inconsistent, and unprofessional. The instructors on the other hand are exceptional. Administration is where it falls flat. If finances are your limitation (as they were for me) then unfortunately this is your place. If you have a choice then I would highly recommend searching other Grad programs. They use their students for political pawns during legislative sessions disguised as course curriculum, they have varying standards of who they help with licensure and who they decide to go through the already tedious Colorado process. The program as a whole is mediocre for the sole purpose that the instructors are great. Again, its an administrative black hole. Be forewarned..."
