"I am returning to NKU for the second time. I graduated in 2011 with an undergraduate in English and it was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed the personalized teaching from the professors. They really wanted me to succeed. I believe that the ELOC program will be no different. When I was accepted the director, Chris Taylor, called me personally to congratulate me. I am looking forward to being home in my alma mater for this new adventure."

"Northern Kentucky University is a great institution for anyone seeking a degree and a positive experience. My favorite experience from NKU was being apart of a welcoming community that made an impact on my life forever. I was able to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher while taking part in a wonderful college experience!"

"NKU has a number of great majors that get students ready for what they want to do. If students are unsure of the major the want or what career paths they want to pursue, their advisors and professors are always willing to help. Most of the professors also understand that life happens, and they will do anything to try and help you."

"Northern Kentucky University is a wonderful, student centered university with many different educational options for every type of student. They are on the rise in many ways in the Ohio valley region be it in athletics, education, student life, and student diversity so this is a great time to be a part of the growth NKU is experiencing. The business management major was a great choice for me as it could be for you. There were a plethora of class options and great instruction for classes and even career by the college of businesses advising team. Overall I was most happy with the fact that the major offered so many different classes in different aspects of business such as finance, accounting, marketing, HR, business ethics, etc. NKU is a great university and if business interests you definitely check out the business management degree!"

"I am happy with the time I spent at NKU. I would say the quality of instruction is overall average, but there are teachers throughout the school who are fantastic. I spent the first several years of my college experience as a Music Education major, but then changed direction. I took several years off, and came back as a distance learner (online student). Both experience were valuable. Bottom line: I liked it, but always do your research."

  • Degree: Anthropology
"Northern Kentucky University's Anthropology program is a great opportunity to discover interests that pertain to anthropology whether it be cultural, linguistics, physical/biological or archeology. During my time at the university, I was elated to learn that I could study cultural and archeology. There were many studies abroad trips one could take and professors encouraged hands-on and group work. However, I was not pleased with how many careers there would be in solely studying anthropology. I would not recommend anthropology as a major unless one wants to pursue a career in that field. I would recommend it as a minor, coupled with another field of study one is interested in."

"It was a great program. I was able to complete most of my courses online, which allowed me to do my course work at night (I was working full time, too). Professors were nice, helpful, and knowledgeable."

"I loved this program in the college. I only attended as a master's student, so I do not know what the undergraduate experience is like there. They had a good amount of activities and being located very near Cincinnati there were a lot of internship opportunities."

"Northern Kentucky University is excellent for students who want a personalized experience in a large university feel. Class sizes are very small and you get to know your professors very well. Tuition is affordable and the opportunities for internships, co-ops, and jobs are amazing!"

"Unfortunately, being an evening student at a law school leaves much to be desired. We miss out on a lot of opportunities to socialize with our peers because we have to take classes at night and have work commitments during the day. The social aspect is important in law school because it creates a support system for students, helps aid with retention rates, and overall contributes to the success of the student. When you don't have that support from fellow law students and fail to have a connection to those in the program full-time, it creates a disconnect."

"I loved NKU! The classes are small so professors are able to engage their classes better, and really try to help a student to the best of their abilities. There are so many options for receiving extra help with particular classes, including tutoring and supplementary instruction sessions. There are all different types of organizations for students to join and be involved on campus ranging from student government, Greek life, religious, political, honors societies, and so much more. Plus the campus isn't extremely big so it makes getting to classes on time much easier. I loved everything about my experiences at NKU and I would highly recommend this university!"

"This program was extremely affordable when compared to other local universities that offer the same program. The professors are very knowledgable in their field, and most have professional work experience in the field of counseling. The campus is safe and easily accessible to the entire Cincinnati area via interstate."
