"Great program while working! I was able to set aside school from work without feeling drained or overwhelmed. This program came with a lot of educated professors who were experienced in the course subject. I appreciated the faith based background and how faith was incorporated with the academics. I absolutely loved the hybrid option, but still met in person. I have made lifelong friends and connections from this program."

"Communication between staff and students at the school of education is awful! The staff turn over rate is abysmal. No wonder no one ever has a clue what is going on! In my two years at a student in their graduate education program it’s been one major issue on their part after another. Completely unprofessional."

"My experience at PLNU was incredibly formative. PLNU not only cares about your academic experience, but also about your spiritual, emotional, and mental growth. Our small classes allowed my major professors to invest in me, taking time to talk through new concepts and ideas, hard questions, and the vast changes in life that come from being in college. I not only learned specific skills from my classes but truly believe I learned how to become a better human. In addition to my education, the relationships I built at PLNU continue to include my best friends, five years after graduation. People talk a lot about "community" at PLNU, but it truly is a unique experience for those who get involved. I was able to meet and make friends through so many different venues on campus. There are a plethora of leadership opportunities beyond the typical RA, such as involvement in leading small groups, music, ASB, mentoring opportunities, intramurals, etc. It would also be amiss not to mention the amazing location of this school. All four years that I lived on campus I had an ocean view out of my dorm/apartment window. The city of San Diego is also truly American's Finest City, and I have yet to leave and don't plan on doing so. I can honestly say that I had such a positive experience that it has led me to return to work at this school a few years after graduation as a way to positively contribute to the experience of current students."

"Aside from it's scenic beauty, Point Loma offers students a fantastic academic experience in a tight knit community. In my four years, I made quality friends and mentors who have greatly impacted how I see and think about the world. I recall sitting in the cafe on a weekly basis with Dr. Smith, my New testament professor, and asking him questions about life, playing dorm room pranks on fellow class mates, and sitting at sunset cliffs taking in the beauty of the sunset over the ocean. One of the really great things about Point Loma is it is easy to get to know your professors. Most classes are not more then 30 students which makes for a great learning environment. I'm fortunate to have forged some quality relationships with teachers who to this day I still talk to. Geographically, Loma is situated in a small safe neighborhood and boasts some of the best views in California being the closest university to the beach. Being in San Diego is a great perk as well considering the great weather and variety of activities available. San Diego has something for everyone whether you're surfing at Mission Beach, taking in a Padres Game, or enjoying the Gas Lamp District down town. Point Loma is a school that prioritizes green initiatives, social justice, and quality education and for those reasons I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a phenomenal undergraduate that will not only shape you academically but also emotionally, culturally, and spiritually."

"Point Loma's new Masters of Arts in Clinical Counseling is a great new addition to its growing options in graduate studies. The small cohort sizes provide you with the opportunity to get to know your classmates and your professors and allow for a productive and safe environment for discussion. I feel like I am constantly learning applicable and relevant information that will aid me in my future career as a counselor."

"As a mid year transfer student coming into my junior year at Point Loma Nazarene University, I found the transition to be difficult as there wasn't an already established and concrete way of me to get to know others in my class. As I began taking more classes within my psychology degree, I found a connection with students who enjoyed the same subject that I did. This helped to create an atmosphere that pushed me to want to continue my education at PLNU."

"The Literatures, Journalism, and Modern Languages Department was excellent and enriching. All of the classes were small which allowed for thought provoking discussions. The professors were phenomenal and truly cared for the students. They all had a strong passion for their area of study and they transmitted it to the students in the ways they taught the courses. The best part of my experience was the Study Abroad program in London hosted by the LJML department and directed by Dr. Winderl. I have studied abroad on different occasions and by far the London program has been the best organized and most enriching program."

"Small and dedicated university that has great professors and staff. The location obviously is on a beach/cliff side and an amazing view, which doesn't get old and is always refreshing. The campus is great the students and staff are very nice and work very collaboratively so you're not left alone to fend for yourself. However, coming in keep note of your first 2 years as vital, keep up the good work and keep your eye out for challenges and solutions. Also keep in mind the professors are there to help you and don't be shy. Good luck and look forward to a great experience."

"The type of experience you have in college is completely up to you. Even at a Christian college, one must choose friends wisely--choose friends who value you for you, who care for you enough to help you grow into a better person, who encourage and motivate you to succeed. The value you receive from the school is also up to you. The professors at PLNU are gold. Not only are they academically invigorating, but they care for their students, and provide a wealth of knowledge and wisdom if you seek it out. The number one advice I give students during informational interviews is to tap into this hidden resource: professors. They will drive you to go further than you would go alone."

"Point Loma Nazarene University has provided me with some of the best experiences and new found knowledge in becoming an education specialist. I absolutely love that I can always reach my professors and advisers with ease and never have to wait several days to receive a response. While my school provides a world class education, it is a private school and unfortunately is a bit expensive. There are many loan options available to students who endeavor to attend this university, but debt does increase quickly. However, there is an occasional opportunity for scholarships."

"The class size is wonderful, smaller class size allows for better individualized attention and focus. The program advisers are experts in their fields and offer insightful resources and perspectives. The school focuses on the "whole" person whereas, personal as well as academic growth is designed into the curriculum. Unfortunately private school and all its perks comes at a high tuition price tag. Financial aid is available however, interest on loans begin immediately and the prospect of paying them off is long-term."

"The MBA program at Point Loma has a lot to offer. Professors with backgrounds in multiple different business backgrounds are teaching students first hand the ins and outs of the business world. Class sizes are small and intimate, and the networking opportunities are phenomenal. The only con of the program is that they don't offer a 1 year program."
