Purdue Global Reviews of Master's in Cybersecurity

This like all things has both good and bad. However, the good far outweighs the bad. This is my second Masters through Purdue Global. First, the admission process is a little disappointing. There doesn't seem to be a hard process. This is great because some people, unfortunately, need opportunities that they would otherwise never receive. Honestly, I shouldn't be in this Masters program, and a more stringent process or advisors would have steered me away. However, feeling qualified or that there... Read More was some level of competition would be nice, and would help eliminate those students who are not going to make it. Secondly, online-only courses are not for everyone. I love them because they fit my busy schedule, but again not for everyone. The program is very fast paced, and at times it can feel like you are on a hampster wheel doing more to keep up with assignments and papers than learning. There isn't a lot of interaction with your advisor unless you make the effort, Lastly, the papers are graded on a rubric and not on ability. Everyone cannot write well, but there should be subjectivity in grading written work. There are several positives to Purdue Global in my opinion. If you have a busy schedule, and/or do not learn well in a classroom, then this may be a good option for you. In each program, I've been the teachers have been extremely helpful when reaching out to them. I do not know what is "affordable", however, one deciding factor for me coming back was it was more affordable than other schools that interested me. The writings and assignments grading focus more on the ability to gather information and answer questions than on writing style. The program gives you the opportunity to learn. Though it is fast paced, at the end of the day if you want to learn the information you will work to do what you need to do outside of assignments and the one hour a week class.

I just recently graduated from the Cybersecurity Management Masters program. Although I had one professor that was hard to get ahold of, the rest were great! I really didn't have a lot of problems with the process. Student and financial advisors were great when I spoke to them, and provided all the information I needed. I applied for graduation on my own, since the standard in most universities is to apply for graduation. It seems some people had a bad experience...or let one bad experience shape... I was really excited about obtaining a Master's Degree. However, I'm in the middle of class I receive a bill for $1780.00 contact the financial aid department who transferred me twice had me in hold while I waited for them to talk to their supervisor. And then was told oh we thought you were in another program. However. a month prior I received a financial aid award letter with the correct program. Therefore, all studet loan info was correct and all ready to go. Now, everyone else in my class received... Read More their refund. They decide to process my aid the 4th week of class and it's the 6th week and I have not had anything deposited into my account. This is the worst thing every. I have never had this experience with any other university. Now, I am receiving emails that my deferment was denied because fedlian does have the correct information. After I have received emails telling me how much purdue university global has received. And no one from financial aid can provide a reason and tell me to was two weeks. However, my session is almost over. They need someone to come and train and investigate the financial aid department in Indiapolis, Indiana.

The bad reviews on here seem to be entirely based on financial aid problems. I certainly understand the frustration about this. Their financial aid department is pretty bad if you rely on it to supplement income, but this is no reason to give them one star. The school is pretty rigorous. It is not uncommon to have labs that take 5 or more hours, 1000-2500 word papers, plus professors that hold you accountable for everything. I am currently evaluating my options for my PhD, and I would go to PG if they had a program. The cost is perhaps a bit too high though. I may choose a different option because of that, but it would only be based on the price.
