"The school has a lot of programs and good professors. But what makes the school are the student lead organizations. They are connected and get you in places that really benefit you. It is important to at least talk to people and try new things. The business department is big and have a lot of courses but also be prepared to crash classes if you are not prepared and plan your time accordingly. A lot to do and a great area to take advantage of it all."

"My program is excellent at providing accessible professors and interesting material. There are also plenty of opportunities to get internships in the nearby Silicon Valley"

"San Jose State is a great school located in the heart of the Silicon Valley. There are many opportunities for networking, great use of technology, and the faculty accessibility and support are outstanding! The program itself is a great learning environment and there is a lot of group work and collaborative efforts. Some of the Professors are very knowledgeable and friendly people who want to work with you and assist you in whatever way they can to help you succeed in the program. Some cons about the school would be the amount of traffic and the cost of living. It is quite expensive to live in San Jose, CA and the the traffic is almost just as bad as Southern California, but don't let that discourage you because the VTA train is close by the school and a clipper card of unlimited rides is included in your tuition. Another con maybe the amount of classes and times offered. I do feel that this program is a bit impacted and well obtaining some necessary classes maybe difficult if you are working and attending Graduate School at the same time. All in all, SJSU is a great University that offers a great program in Education Counseling with outstanding professors and a good learning and technological environment. Go Spartans!!!"

"San Jose State is a good school IF you choose the right professors within the right majors. Otherwise, there's a lot of classes and professors that were a waste of time. If you're going to go there, seek out the departments for which it's most respected. Many of the others aren't worthwhile."

"San Jose State provided a good balance of hands-on learning and academia.. Although I believe the program accommodated too many sub-par students it gave you the opportunity to "get out what you put in" to a very high level."

"SJSU is a great place to get your degree. I understand people want to go to the UC's because of the reputation they have. In all honesty, I am working with many folks who all went to UC Berkeley and never felt as my degree from SJSU wasn't good enough. Here we are in the same job working together!"

"Okay classes, hard to register, take night classes, winter, summer, whatever you can to get units in. Double check that all your classes count for graduation. There were mistakes in the class registration book, and I ended up taking classes that didn't count for anything. Huge waste of time and money because of a typo."

"There are many positive qualities of the Master's program of the social work department at San Jose State University. There is a great support of the professors and guidance towards being successful throughout the program. There is a consistent network development in which the student is always supported throughout their studies. Unfortunately, there have been many recent changes to the program, and we no longer have a cohort system. This has impacted the moral of the student body and collaboration. Tuition has continued to rise and in addition there have been multiple cuts in the acceptance of student enrollment. The University has changed drastically."

"The Pros about the Master's of Urban and Regional Planning program are the networks one may create with Professionals and Alumni. The program offers real life hands on work that are priceless to students. Additionally, the professor's are extremely friendly and willing to help the students out both in the academic and professional world. There are no cons about the program. The offer great resources all around."

"There are many pros and cons of the program. The pros have to be the social life and surrounding area is a very vibrant and thriving community. Also, the diversity on campus is second to none. On the other hand, one of the major cons would be the limited support provided from the school for career advancement."

"The professors here are outstanding! I have learned so much from them, and they have inspired to learn as much as I can. The supervisor feedback is very helpful! However, the only thing that I wasn't overly impressed with was the organization of the program and scheduling with clinics."

"I feel as though my academic success is a direct correlation of the wonderful academic environment that SJSU has to offer. All of my achievements are a reflection of the faculty and staff that have mentored me thus far as well as a reflection of the strong foundation of support that I receive from my family and friends. That being said, my success is there success. The greatest pro of my graduate program is that my professors are always available for office hours. I have spent countless hours pestering my teachers, and I am a better student for it. Another pro of my graduate program is that most of the teachers also have industry experience so they are able to offer great career advice in general. I always find lecture both insightful and engaging. For me, the only con of my graduate program is the starting time of classes. Most of the upper division engineering classes are offered once a week from 6:00-8:45 PM. My commute is 2 hours one-way which means that I get home rather late. Realizing what an education from SJSU means for my future however makes my commute that much easier to bare, and I am honestly grateful just to even be able to attend school."
