"Overall it was a good experience. I truly enjoyed my program and most of the professors with it. I think both the school and my program (Psychology) did the best they could with the resources available, considering it was located in such a rural area. On this note, I do find that there could have been more opportunities available and more resources for a wider variety of programs. I find the university to favor particular students and programs over others which can clearly be seen in the buildings, size of programs, and opportunities for involvement within them."

"Shippensburg University is an amazing school. The campus is nestled on the hill overlooking the little town of Shippensburg. The campus is grass covered with trees and plenty of places to study or read outside. The professors are amazing, brilliant, helpful and competent. There are a lot of campus activities to attend no matter what you are interested in all you have to do is look around at a few fliers."

"It was a warm, idyllic setting for a college. Nestled in a valley amongst rolling hills and mountains. The buildings were historic and the students were fun and friendly."

"The professors don't focus enough on teaching you real-world skills. Of course college is about learning how to learn, and I fully support that, but it would much more helpful if we learned how to learn while learning stuff that actually matters. Group projects are also super frustrating if you actually take your work seriously, or if you have any type of work life outside of class. Other than that, work hard, do the tasks assigned, and you'll get your fancy paper at the end of your time served."

"It was a great business school with several class options to help you narrow in on what was of interest to you. The town is small, but it helps create a close knit community."

"Shippensburg University is a PA state university located in a suburban/rural area. The coursework for the counseling program is offered exclusively on campus and in the evening. Classes are "stacked," meaning students can take two classes per evening, one at 4:00 and another at 6:45. This helps cut costs for commuters, which many students are. Instructors are personable and active, though they are high on adjunct numbers right now."

"College was great for me. There is such a wide range of classes and activities that incoming students are bound to find something that catches their interest."

"I love that in this program, the professors are dedicated to your success. You have the responsibilities that a graduate student should have, but they are also on your side, wanting you to succeed rather than treating you as a number in a classroom. My professors have inspired and encouraged me so much so that I intend on pursuing a doctorate after I am finished with my current degree. A strong support system has been one of the greatest influences of my success. That being said, this program is very lengthy. It is a 60 credit program, lasting 3 years for my plan of action. I do not have the financial capability to pay for three more years of school, but thankfully I have the dedication to find a way to pay for my education, as it is that important to me. I wish there were more classes offered online so that we could take more classes at a time or over holidays."

"The graduate program is good, but I wouldn't call it the best. Some professors are better than others (like anywhere). The major problem is that not all of the professors are well organized, so a lot of information regarding what is needed class-wise, and thesis wise, is missing from the students when they first start the program."

"The professors are really supportive, caring, and competent in their area of expertise. The classes are small so the professors know everyone by name. The other students in the graduate program are all friendly and supportive as well. The classes are really interesting and the material/program we are in is CACREP accredited."

"Overall Shippensburg's Counseling Program is a great program. The professors are very experienced and knowledgeable about their field. The program does a good job preparing you for the work needed to do. The surrounding area leaves much to be desired and the program is not very diverse but it is worth it for the education received."

"Well I will start with the cons, they are not much but still i have heard some critics about the fact that the program is not specifically design around the environmental science, therefore it is much about Geography. But I think that is the also the strength of the program because it combines two major earth sciences components in one studying curriculum."

"I think the Shippensburg Counseling Program is a great program. The professor's really care and have a great deal of experience that they draw on. The Shippensburg surrounding area isn't very cultural but there is enough to do. The high quality of the program is amazing and I feel it does a great job preparing future counselors."

"A lot of the apartment complexes don't offer transportation during the evening to campus, although that is when the graduate programs have class usually. I hear many stories about attacks that happen on campus during the evening, so I can't really say that their security is good, and they make you walk to your car in a different lot than what is close to your building. The staff are also a little behind and don't always offer the help when you need it. The school counseling program is great though, I just wished they would allow you to take more than 9 credits in the fall and spring, because it will take 3 years to complete the degree."

"I do not feel the campus is as safe as it should be at night. I hear stories about people being taken advantage of. Also, the parking is so far away from your actual class building, it would be fearful to walk to my car during night classes. The apartment complexes that work with the school do have shuttle bus transportation, but a majority of them do not run after 4:30 p.m. and graduate classes usually run until after 9 p.m. However, I do believe my program has value. The staff are willing to work with you and are very helpful, which is a number one reason of why I chose to attend here."
