As I read through each review I am terrified at how accurate the description of staff and financial issues are. I decided to transfer schools when I was told I could not take more than two classes at a time. That bothered me. Save your money, go to a credible school.

Steer clear of South University. They are a for-profit business (not an institution of higher education) and they run all of their departments that way. They don't care about the students; money is their only object. I was a student from 2008-2011 and graduated. The coursework was not meaningful and I question the validity of my MBA compared to other schools. You can never get in contact with your advisor, financial aid, or academic services. They don't even offer unofficial transcripts - you have... Read More to pay a fee to have official transcripts created, which have a minimum 3 week wait time and they will only mail them. There are numerous other universities out there that are less expensive and will offer an actual quality education and experience. Please, don't waste your time with this train wreck of a school.

I graduated with a 4 year degree from this school. Graduating meant everything to me as I was a high school drop out with only a 9th grade education. Read More a debt collector called Access Receivables and was notified through them that I owed the school over 9K- due to the fact that for some reason my fafsa never disbursed. Therefore I reached out to my financial aid advisor to inquire about this as I do not want my credit score to be affected with my account apparently being in collections. Mind you, this money owed to the school is on top of my student loans which are deferred until January 2019,which is over 48K. Anyways- apparently once you graduate, financial aid does not believe in advising and helping those who graduate understand what is going on and help with a resolution. I ended up reaching out to supervisor- who advised he would have my account removed from collections. I am beyond stressed at this point- I am still receiving harassing calls from the debt collector. I was advised by supervisor that he would have my account removed from collections and that he could put me in touch with those who could help me work out a payment plan for what I owe to the school- outside of my loans. I am completely distressed over this matter as I have been working so hard on my credit and now I can see all that hard work going down the drain when all I want to do is get this issue resolved and work out a payment plan so my credit wont be negatively impacted. What I thought was a great opportunity for me- to get a degree- is turning into a nightmare that could affect me for years. I have never felt so neglected and so alone when it comes to something like this. it is truly like one does not matter once one graduates. I will never forget this experience.

The college is BS. I went online for about 3 months before I decided to transfer. I done a bachelor's degree in Public health and majored in biology. I had a $5000 grant, and also had to take out a $5000 student loan, for 1 semester may I add. And I just got a letter saying I owed them another $800. And they didn't even send me the right amount of my reimbursement, not even half of what the DOE told me what I would get. The counselors are there to help all the way, UNTIL your enrolled. Unfortunately everything posted on here about the South NP program is true. They are a predatory school. I entered the NP program April 2018. I have had no help from the professors in fact they have attempted to use discriminatory grading practices to which I had to threatening calling an Ombudsman. Its quite funny how they could then act in a fair and responsible manner. My academic advisor is an absolute sarcastic child when I need help. The Advanded Practice Nursing class I am currently enrolled in, the professor told us none of us would pass any test. She stated this was done on purpose by the Dean because a previous student had published the test online. Well thats great so now you are going to fail all of us why am I even in this class, why is South taking my money and then the professors telling us in a webinar that we will all fail. Please listen to these reviews and go elsewhere they are very much taking money from innocent students who have a true drive to better themselves.

I was pleased when I first started. Now? I am less than pleased. SUO is in the top 5 mistakes I have made in my life. I needed to withdraw from classes due to extreme situations occurring in my life. I was put on academic suspension, told I needed proof first, and then they would remove me from academic suspension- but they wouldn't do anything about those classes. This all occurred between 2014 and 2015. I am trying to get into a college IN my home state, and even though I have a ZERO balance, I cannot get my transcript. I am being told it was put down as a bad debt write off. Why then, was money refunded to the institution that I hold my student loan through, AND they refunded money from my Pell grant, back to the foundation too. I am being told I owe close to $6,000. I am disgusted with their conduct. If I do not get honest answers, I will be seeing about a lawyer. Maybe that will prevent this from happening to others, which I have read that it has. They will not even CALL ME BACK to discuss appealing etc. Do not waste your time or money on SUO. Go somewhere in your home state. All you'll get here is the run around and dishonesty.

They get you in too fast. Before FA even processes. The FA department is the worst group of people I have ever encountered. They are unprofessional, rude, loud, and don't know jack about FA. Make sure you know your FA, don't trust them at all. The instructors where great. I felt bad for them though because even they did know what heck was going on. They move so fast through the classes. CHOOSE another school that CARES about your success, not your wallet. Classes are completely self-taught with no provisional lectures. You are on your own as far as finding clinical sites. Grading between instructors are very inconsistent, most are more concerned about your APA writing format than content. Keep in mind with NO help from classes, they are now using webcams to monitor students for exams and giving tests that are not always relevant to class material covered in required textbooks. Some... Read More professors don't respond to emails in timely manner. Had one class where the instructor was missing for the first 2 wks of class then was replaced. The replacement instructor took points off assignments that were turned in prior to her being assigned to our class - THEN she informed the class her expectations - after deducting points for something we were unaware of. I feel like I've dedicated tooo much time into this program, which only provides busy work and no instruction whatsoever, and they are NOT out for our interest one bit. Their goal is to make money off of you even if it means flunking you to make you repeat classes and spend even more money. Do your research and FIND another school that cares about student success.

Horrible institution. You will be tested on material not covered in the reading. You will not be taught anything as the "professors" are merely facilitators. From the beginning of this program I have brought forth concerns with the lack of guidance within the courses, the lack of lectures, and the lack of follow through when there are issues. I am still amazed how you can have professors that just graduated in a school that offers a doctorate program (without a higher level like a residency). Read More preceptors dont want to take South students because of the bad quality of students despite their efforts. Some preceptors expressed the low quality of a south student, and how sad it is after paying so high tuition, what a bad preparation. Most students are clueless and are not able to answer basic questions. To study for NAPLEX, you will NOT pass if you rely on Souths education. I passed my board exams thanks to other resources like RxPrep. If I was given the opportunity to go to this school again without paying anything, I would still say no. It is so embarrassing to be now in the world out there and you cant answer basic questions because of the poor education. At this point, exactly one year after graduation, I know of many classmates who have not passed the board exams despite trying to take it several times. I really wish I would have done some research about this school before I applied.

Be very careful with this university. They over bill your student loan provider. I had opted out of e-text books and they still billed me for it. They charge you a clinical fee of $500.00 when you take your first class for the ARNP program that is non refundable ( even though you do not start clinicals until the end of the program). Read More student loan provider, so i had to pay the difference out of pocket which i did before the payment was due, a week later i get a call from a collection agency about a bill that was not paid to South University. I told them that i had paid and i sent them the proof and they got off my back. But south university uses a debit collection agency to get there money, keep that in mind if you have good credit, cause once a bill goes into collection it brings your credit score down. There is a test the is required towards the end of the ARNP program that you must pass if you fail the test your removed from the program. However, they do not tell you about this test when you sign up for the program. Most people are surprised when they eventually have to take the test. They do not give you any study material for this must pass test either. There clinical coordinators are incompetent. You send them all thepaper work they need to process so you can do clinicals a month in advance and they lose all the paper work. which delays your clinical start time. And if you complain no one cares. They are getting $60,000 or more out of you from this program and they have terrible customer service. You try to talk to the Dean of the program and you can never get ahold of him. And when you do get an email response its a robo replied that states please reviewed your student handbook. Thats all, you complain about a bunch of things to the dean of the program and all you get in response is please review your student handbook. im pretty sure the dean doesn't even read the emails or even receive them. I've gone to school for my BSN at Chamberlain University when i emailed the dean i got a swift reply and it wasn't a robo reply. At south if you email the dean it could take weeks for a reply and when you do get a reply its a robo reply. Im still in awe that this school hasn't lost the accreditation but i wont be surprised if they do lose it in the future. If your looking to do your ARNP go somewhere else this school is not worth the problems.

I will be graduating from South University in August and I am very dissatisfied with this school and their online program. First of all, it is completely self taught, second of all they provide you with ZERO help with finding clinical site rotations, and lastly they are not allowing me to walk in the year of 2018.
