Southeast Community College Area Reviews

I think southeast community college is a good school, not great but good enough. The school's greatest advantage is the price. The ROI is insane. I was working a minimum wage retail job at night and going to school during the day. I am now a network engineer for a very respectable company making 4 times what I was before. I think some of the "starter classes" in the beginning of the program were a joke and boring, I understand they have to start from the way beginning because they don't know where everyone is knowledge wise. That being said, Yes, I had to learn a lot of things on my own. I believe college isn't designed to spoon feed students, its purpose is to just get you thinking and show you the path. Some of the classes were very interesting but not really helpful in my career directly which is fine. I also think it helps weed out some students, making the degree more valuable. I started with maybe 120 students and graduated with a handful. I also want to say, I think I was exception as I starting working for a startup that was purchased by a larger company. So I got to learn and grow my career at a very fast pace. In the end, I think going to SCC was a really good choice and 100% worth it.
I had a very good college experience. At the time the program that I was interested in was in demand so I was able to prepare and get into it right away. I lived right across the street from all of my classes in one building. The school was a good fit because it was an 8-4 type of atmosphere and I didn't have to wait a long time between classes or had days where I had no classes. While some of the things I have studied were not being used in my current career I found that they had some form of being useful outside of the classroom.
I would choose the same degree as I enjoy programming.
Do what you want and go where it specializes. Whatever that may be, don't go to a college and/or do a job for the money. You are going to be doing this every day so you need to enjoy it.
