"Southern Arkansas University changed my life for the better. It is a small campus, only 4,000-5,000 students attend the school, but what it lacks in heart it makes up for in spirit. Every single faculty and staff I met only wanted the best for their students. They truly care about each student. I created friendships with my teachers that have lasted well beyond the classroom and past my graduation date. Opportunities to travel and present research abound, and a lot of them are paid for by the school. The Honors College Program gives away free iPads to anyone within the program. They have many food choices on campus, no matter what you are in the mood for. School pride runs deep within the campus, making home games all fun and spirited. There are so many fun things to do too. There are dozens of clubs and organizations to learn about and join. Concerts hosted by the school are always fun and the chilli cooking contest always has a large turnout. Dont forget about the Mario Kart tournaments where you can win a new speaker. But the best thing about SAU is the faculty and staff. The professors are what made me realize I wanted to be a professor. Their guidance and love for my education helped me see what career path I should take. While my current graduate school is amazing, there is not a day that goes by that I do not miss Southern Arkansas University. I am a Mulerider through and through and will forever bleed blue and gold."

"It's a great smaller college with quality programs and affordable tuition. Over the past years, it's grown a lot via new buildings and by adding areas of study."

"The MAT program at SAU is wonderful. I was able to take all of my classes online. Dr. D. was extraordinarily helpful from before the first day of class all the way until I needed to start applying for my Arkansas Teaching License. SAU is a great school with great people! These professors care about you and how you succeed not only in their classes, but in life. I always knew I could ask any questions and go to them with absolutely anything."

  • Degree: Criminal Justice
"This university offers a unique atmosphere of quality academics with small class sizes and one on one instructor/student time. The class size I believe lends to a better education due to the ability to question and develop deeper understanding. The program itself has several experts in the field. The professors for most of my classes had real life field experience in the profession. One professor was a sitting judge and another served all positions from patrolman to police chief in cities exceeding populations of 50,000 people. The life experience coupled with the small town atmosphere led me to a better understanding of criminal justice that I would have gotten at a larger school. SAU also has a very affordable tuition rate."

"SAU is a great school. They are accredited and have a high caliber staff that is ready to assist you through any issue. They have been ranked as one of the best values for a college degree and have repetitively received awards for their curriculum, student activity, and professor research. I received two degrees from SAU and have never regretted my decision."

"This school was an amazing school to attend. The program that I was in was a program that the students were worked to the bone. The students were taught what it would really be like to be a Certified Athletic Trainer. But, the program director was a person who was so nice to you until you reached senior year. She became a spiteful and vindictive mean person who made your senior year not only as a student but as a person to. I on many occasions left her class in tears because of the manner she talked to me in."

  • Degree: Business
"Southern Arkansas University has proved to me to be an amazing school to go to. I'm in the MAT program to teach Business for 4-12 grade. I've learned so much from my professors and they are ALWAYS there if I need anything or have questions. I've never been late turning things in, but they are understanding when circumstances come up. For example, I've had colleagues that had a baby in the middle of the semester and the professor was more than okay with working with that student. They are great people and it's a great place to receive your education."

"The pros are numerous but the cons are not. The only con I see in the graduate program is the lack of online course availability for working graduate students attending classes on campus without an opportunity to complete graduate English courses online."
