"Small, beautiful school in a gorgeous nature area. I learned a lot from my program and am very thankful for it. The BFA I got was an intense program but that suited me well. But there is definitely some inner drama and unfairness within the department itself that is hard to ignore. Although my education was great, I do not feel that the school helped guide me into a career."

"The chemistry program at SOU provided passionate, engaging faculty and small class sizes that fostered discussion and teamwork within the program. I received excellent support from my adviser; they even tailored a major to my needs in order to help me graduate sooner and leave prepared for my next move (graduate school). Both lower- and upper-division professors made their expectations clear and helped us achieve our academic goals. My favorite part was the real-world emphasis of the classes. Also, Ashland, OR is a great place to live while studying, and SOU has programs and activities that take full advantage of the outdoor lifestyle there. All around, a great experience and one that I would recommend."

"Southern Oregon university is a great place to get your education. The great mountains, trees and other great wildlife gives it a great environment to be in. The professors and students are friendly and genuine people. Every professor is more than willing to help you and actually prefer that one-on-one time with their students. They have amazing programs and because of our great environment and community, Southern Oregon also has other programs that your normal university may not have."

"My college is known for its theatre program and its sciences, so in those areas I've heard wonderful things about SOU. In political science, I found my professors to be fabulous, but didn't feel incredibly challenged on the coursework. Additionally, I studied French and Spanish and thought those programs were very good. It's a small college, professors are very accessible and it's a beautiful campus."

"From a business prospective the ROI of SOU's program was very high. Personally, my wife and friends were all able to get jobs straight out of college that paid between $45 - $60k. There were people going into management training through enterprise where after a year you got paid $42K, accountants start around $45K, and sales jobs were more like $60-$90. Even though around that area the median household income is just over $42k people with a college degree have a number of opportunities to make much more right out of college. The professors really care about the students success and work hard to get student opportunities."

"Southern Oregon University has an outstanding school of business. The instructors all have very diverse backgrounds, lending to the curriculum they teach and the experience they share with students. The class sizes are small so each student is able to get one-on-one time with the instructor. The school of business offers a great variety of focus areas to choose from, as well as many certificates and minor options. Overall, Southern Oregon University not only fit my educational needs, it also fit my budget and I would recommend this university to anyone who wants to study with highly intelligent professors and a diverse group of peers."

"It has small class sizes for majority of their classes and the professors are great. Although there are points when if you don't agree with the majority you get lowered on grades or treated differently"

"The program has some fantastic professors, with small class sizes, and state of the art facilities. Being able to talk to my professor, rather than an assistant, made a huge difference in my ability to get the kind of education I was looking for."

"I love that SOU offers a MS in Environmental Education, as it is very unique and fitting for my overall career goals. SOU is a small town in Southern Oregon surrounded by a beautiful environment. The school, although has had some cut backs in the science department, still offers world class teaching and educaiton programs. I highly recommend the program to anyone looking into degrees intersecting education and the environment. more info at: https://www.sou.edu/ee/index.html"

"After graduating from SOU with degrees in Environmental Science and Chemistry I moved to Portland where I found a job in an Environmental laboratory. SOU provided me with a very solid background which allowed me to adjust easily into my career as a Chemist. While at SOU I made incredible connections with my professors because of the smaller class size. We were also able to run instruments like an NMR, GC/MS and others. If I would have attended a larger university a TA normally runs the instrument and gives the students the data. I would definitely recommend SOU."

"The MS in Environmental Education is an incredibly rare program in which both the biology and education departments work hand in hand- almost unheard of in other universities! To receive a Master's in Science AND a teacher license at another university would have taken me 4+ years. At SOU, I can get both within 2 years. The faculty are helpful, knowledgeable and the school is small enough that they are all very helpful and friendly. A con of the university is the financial aid office, as some information isn't presented until it may be too late. FYI- if you plan to start attending the university during the summer and require financial assistance, file the prior year's FAFSA! Very important to know! While Ashland is small, it's beautiful and nestled in an incredible area of the country, and Medford is very close with very affordable housing if you're willing to commute."

"The program does an amazing job of preparing its students for the work force. They emphasize practicum which provides a great deal of hands on experience. The only negative is its small town location which limits internship opportunities."
