I attended Star Technical Institute in 2004 for the Medical Assistant program. I found the curriculum easy and comprehensive, the staff(at the time)very helpful. I admired my MA teacher and believe she was one of the best teachers I have had. I reflect back often and only have good memories and experience to speak of. I then attended Star Career Academy again in 2013 for a phlebotomy refresher course. My life since has been changed for the better- the current staff is extremely helpful, professional, understanding and attentive. I could not have asked for a better experience with the Instructor who taught me. He is a wonderful teacher, and just plain awesome! Again, one of the best! I completely would recommend this school to anyone interested in furthering their education-HANDS DOWN. This school has definitely helped me realize my dream of wanting to be in the healthcare field!

I graduated from Star Career (Star Tech back then) and it's changed my life. Excellent experience, instructors were fantastic, and there have been endless job opportunities. Worth every moment and every penny.

I went to Star on Welsh Rd. In Philadelphia, I did not get dropped, I left the school not because I wasn't passing, not because I didnt get good grades but because this school was horrible. I had 4 teachers in a 6 month period and honestly none of the students were where they needed to be! We had 2 teachers quit within 2 weeks of each other, we had 1 sub teaching 2 classes one night and then we had our extern coordinator quit because this school was giving her a bad rep. By sending the students out unprepared, hospitals dropped our school while I was attending SMH and they expected us to stay yea right!!!

I have a few degrees from a few different schools. Do not waste your time in the paramedic program at star. It is and absolute joke and the director of education and EMS director are both morons who know nothing about how to teach. It is pathetic

The school is very unprofessional. There is a lack of leadership at the school. When you go speak to them they tell you that you will make all this money in the program. The starting salary is not what they said it would be. You can go to a dialysis clinic and make the same amount of money without paying all the money to attend school. This program is not required to work in the dialysis field. The turn over rate for teachers is high. Brookdale offers the course for one third the price with an externship. If you are looking to work in the dialysis field just apply at a facility don't waste your money coming here.

After taking a full time class schedule and $17,500 on school loans I have a degree that is useless. Graduated the top 2 in my class, 100% on every score at my externship and because of the schools poor reputation and the students that they allowed to pass programs prior to me and send to local hospitals to perform poorly and also found to have criminal records I can not get hired. School lacks professionalism and actual hands on training. Please, do not continue to find this abomination of an organization.

I am a 2009 Graduate of this school. This school scam'd hundreds of people out of money. The education is basic stuff you can learn on your OWN from the internet. They DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT!!! PROVIDE JOB PLACEMENT !! as advertised. The certifications are NOT I repeat are NOT !!! Required in NEW YORK. The financial aide program I would give it no stars if i could. NO ONE I KNEW HAS GOTTEN A JOB IN THEIR INDUSTRY HOTEL'S OR HOSPITALS. EVERY ONE FROM 2009 THAT WORKED THERE IS NO LONGER WORKING THERE. IT IS NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY THEY CHARGE. I SPENT OVER $10,000 TO MEET PEOPLE, THAT'S HOW I SEE IT BECAUSE THE EDUCATION WAS VERY BASIC. YOU DO NOT STAND OUT FROM THE REST OF THE UNEMPLOYED WORLD BECAUSE YOU WENT TO THIS SCHOOL INSTEAD YOU FIND YOURSELF HAVING A HARD TIME EXPLAINING TO FUTURE EMPLOYERS WHAT IT IS THAT MAKE STHE SCHOOL SO GREAT THAT THEY SHOULD HIRE YOU. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO FEEL THIS WAY BUT I JUST WANT YOU THE PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE TAKING A MAJOR UN BENEFICIAL RISK IF YOU ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. YOUR WELCOME.

2009. Star Career is just to make you a subject to their dictatorship. This school has no professionalism and the Head of the school needs some hospitality training himself..But the great thing about this school you can proctor the Exams for AMERICAN HOTEL AND LODGINGS ASSOC. don't know if they have that program still. I had the chance to obtain all my Servesafe Food Management, Alcohol and AHALA Certifications..the Hospitality Classes is nothing but a joke.I could not get my internship in the last 3 months so I quit ..my financial aid of $4000 could not be disbursed so that made them mad. I reaped some good out of this badly run school that teaches less and make you pay more

Not VA friendly - Veterans do not try to attend!

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT go to this school if you are a veteran that relies on VA funding such as VRAP or the Montgomery GI Bill!! They do not honor it! They are NOT veteran friendly. If you are a veteran choose another school. These schools are a dime a dozen anyway! They basically lied about being a VA friendly school in order to get the enrollment. Now, several weeks in, we find out that they are not certified to approve veterans through ANY of the veteran programs. Horrible experience. Students are not being told the truth and after weeks of being there, being led on lies, the student has to come out of Star Academy and find another school to attend. Unforgiveable!!!

I am writing this review only for their CPR class for hralthcare providers because I never really attended their school except for that. But as far as CPR training, their is certainly the best, as well as the cheapest!

I attended CPR training before, from my home country, from one in NY, and another one in NJ. None of the them compared to the class I had at Star Career. I learned so much more from this class than all other three combined. It must be because they have the most complete equipment and they are available for each student.

The instructor also made sure that we understood and that we are able to do the CPR by ourselves. I am extremely pleased. It was the best $45 I have ever spent in my healthcare education.
