S*** school, nothing happened as promised. Cant work full time or you will get garnished. Degree is completely worthless. I am worse off than i was before amd wish I had never went. I dealt with tutors on drugs. This college is a complete scam that will ruin your life. And put you forever in debt
Stay away from here from this college. I finished my degree and started to apply for jobs. its a business degree... let that sink in. I also have experience in my field been in middle management 5 years experience. Now when i went in for my interviews and the interviewer would ask "How did you preform at.... (as they flip the page and look at where i went) Steven Henager's college? (as they were holding in laughter)." I had the opportunity of asking a friend of mine who is a CEO of a pretty large company if he would hire someone like me just by looking at my degree/ resume and he said "No, not when i can get someone else with a different college level. i'd prefer if you went to WGU or even Rosemont but Steven Henager is a absolute joke". So if you stay away from here it is in your best interest. This place is still in business just because they market to those who have less than stellar academia accolades, and their "national accreditation" doesn't mean you can transfer to any school or that its held in high regard. its strait up garbage and go somewhere else.
I started the surgical tech program in 2005 and finished in 2007. We had 1 instructor who has since gone on to get her nursing degree. She was very knowledgeable. Class sizes were quite large. To pass any class and get your degree you had to consistently keep your grades above a B. I graduated in 2007 Several years ago my son decided to attend and was getting his financial aid in place Having a parent that attended he was to get a discount. He then was told he doesn't qualify because I DIDN'T HAVE A "B" AVERAGE. What a scam. To graduate you have to keep a B. I GRADUATED. either they scamed and lied to me or they lied to my son so as to not provide the discount.
Awesome awesome awesome school! They gave me an updated macbook pro to complete my degree and YES this was for online classes. They send you an insignia tablet than 4 months in you get a computer. Awesome school. Nice degree programs as well. Thank you!
This college was supposedly offering a Case Management bachelor concentration. After all the financial aid was signed, I got a call from the Dean of Nursing - 2 days prior to classes starting - stating they "just found out" they can not offer a specialization at the undergraduate level so although I would still have a class in Case Management, there was not any concentration. I was already committed financially so I agreed to continue enrollment. I was also told they were in the process of being Accredited by the ANCC, to date this has not appeared on any of the nursing program accreditation. I was also told I could pay any "overage" that was not covered by Federal financial aid on a monthly basis; every time I got a bill it stated Amount owed: $0.00. Prior to releasing by diploma I got a bill for over $4,000.00 stating there was also late fees as I had NEVER made a payment; because the bill amount stated $0.00!!! Don't waste your time or money.
I think the school is great, and I did my research comparing colleges. I am on my way to earning my master degree in healthcare administration, and I am going to continue to use this college for more education! Negative comments can be and are said about any school!
Please do not bother even applying here. Get on the wait list at another private College or a nearby University. The nursing Department is so poorly run that they cannot keep instructors unless they are poor instructors who couldn't get work anywhere else. The Dean of Nursing is an outright fraud who is herself unclear on all the prerequisite requirements as well as the course curriculum. It appears that the curriculum changes on a monthly basis whisk makes it impossible to trust that you are going to earn a useful degree. Its no wonder that their nursing dept. accreditation is never solidly in place. You will pay around $50K for an ADN! That is ridiculous. Please see all of the many other comments regarding their financial aide department and you should know that they will ruin you financially. In my time at SHC I saw students who graduated by helping to set an instructor up to get fired. They bragged about it to other students and bragged that the Dean offered their degrees in return for badmouthing and writing letters to get that instructor fired. Despicable behavior's that I didn't want to be at all associated with. Most of us that graduated stay in touch. Many had a very hard time getting jobs because employers know how awful the SHC nursing program is. I knew several students who didn't earn the grades but complained to the Dean or the President so were given grades they hadn't earned because the school seems to be afraid of academic stringency which can lead to poor attrition rates. I wonder if the NLNAC or the NLN know about the actual hours we got for clinical time verses the hours we were contracted for in our syllabi? Overall, a terrible educational experience and I feel I made a huge mistake. Be patient and go to a school with great reviews from past students! Please be careful when researching schools.
This school is such a joke, I put in serious effort. Did all the work to the T, and got my degree in the medical field. When I went to apply at the hospital, the application process specifically stated that they do not accept applicants with a degree from Stevens Henager. Now I'm thousands of dollars in debt, and cant even find a career that I can use this degree for.
While I was employed in the field I graduated in once receiving my degree, I believe I'm an exception. I recall having only three instructors who were knowledgeable, two of which they let go. Much of what I learned was independent study. The cost of this school is absolutely repulsive & they incessantly call from numerous numbers trying to get you to enroll for an additional degree. Save yourself a lot of stress and money by enrolling in a traditional college rather than being stuck with non-transferable credits & the headache known as Stevens-Henager!
I started in 2015, what a joke. The total for 2yrs is 43,000. I started looking into the actual wage none of the info given by the school is correct. There is no way you will make more then 30,000 a year. None of the credits are transferable to any other college. I have decided to change to an actual college. Most Professors are actually knowledgeable, but many are not fit to do there jjobs. And are not fit to be in tie work force as supervisors or coworkers, just have crappy attitudes. Course curriculum is changed whenever the dean fills like it. My daughter was considering the school for a bachelors in accounting. During her appointment counselors could not and would not give her a total on what it would cost for tuition for a year or tocomplete her degree. We also discovered that she would not be able to test for her Cap, or any other licensing other then a national certification. Which basically her degree is useless. And yet again while in this meeting we were informed that the curriculum were being changed and can be changed at anytime the school or deans see fit. Which means that at any given time her books for study are useless. Also 4 weeks for per class is not enough time to convey all information you need to study to get the best from your education. Deal breaker is tat classes are random so the majority of your classes will not run in secession, meaning that classes that should be together are almost always separated and so far apart that you do not get the most out of your education. I am so glad my daughter is going to a real college and talked me into going to college with her at a real school.
