Strayer University Reviews
Student & Graduate Reviews (125)
Strayer is a very good college that you can enroll in when you want to go to school remotely. The professors are always available to help you to be successful in your classes. They answer emails on time and even though you are at home, it is as though you are in classes because of the interaction that you can have with your classmates. It is a great experience.
I'm shocked and disappointed to see the negative reviews here about Strayer. I selected this school because it is regionally accredited, the most prestigious accreditation a school can receive, so I feel confident in saying my education is legitimate. In my opinion, the key to success anywhere is communication. At Strayer there are so many people to reach out to if you need help or have a question, but like any school anywhere, sometimes its up to you to trouble shoot your own technical issues or communicate in a timely manner if need help. These are skills you need in the workforce and qualities perspective employers look for. I noticed a lot of the negative feedback here is regarding Financial Aid. I would caution prospective students to take this with a grain of salt. When you sign up for school pay attention to what you need for your financial aid, take it seriously, and don't just blow it off if you're asked to prove you are who you say or that what you put on your FAFSA is true. I've had to provide documentation for Financial Aid and yes its a little more work, but its not the school punishing you, just take your time and do it right things will go a lot more smoothly for you. As for the professors, yes some were outstanding and some were not very impressive, but this was true of my professors at the local state school I attended before coming to Strayer. At the end of the day, its up to you to submit good quality work, on time! Shocking I know! If Strayer were a "joke" as one comment stated, they would just pass out A's for you showing up. That is not the case its a real school and school is hard. If your expectation is anything less, you're mistaken. Personally I've had a great experience, and couldn't be more delighted to finally say I am a college graduate all thanks to Strayer! If you want a better job and better opportunities, you're not going to get there with out some effort keep that in mind prospective students and best of luck!
DO NOT GET IN THIS PLACE! The management is totally worst thing to deal with. From financial service to anything that handles the records and paperwork is totally disaster here. First, I even lost count how many times they have messed up my admission and it got delayed 6 months because of their negligence, then they messed up my financial records and finally after graduation they never sent me my diploma, for seven months I had to call them every time to check why they never sent out my diploma and all of them gave me separate excuses and finally they made me pay some extra hundreds for no reason. I paid all those just because I had no will to deal with those people anymore and I needed my diploma for my job soon. I can not believe they are so careless about the system. I would never recommend anyone to go in this place.
Strayer initially started out fine, but while trying to receive Pell Grant I was questioned by their staff for months on end while they did a UEH review. For 1 semester a year prior I had an issue with attendance at a different school due to medical reasons. This was documented and I brought them in over 14 pages showing documentation during that semester. I had since returned to a different school with no issues for a full year before enrolling at Strayer. I now can't get them to agree to give me my pell grant, or to tell me why I can't get it. That pell grant was a huge help in me getting my degree, and to think I will have to take out a student loan just to finish school makes me sick. I just want to to finish my degree and move on. Also some of their instructors are great, but others are allowed to pick favorites, and yell at students if you disagree with them on something. I submitted a paper in my psychology class, and the instructor couldn't get it to download even though other instructors could. I sent it to her 4 or 5 times with the same issue every time. Help desk said it was on her end, but she didn't accept that and I had to drive with a toddler an hour away to the campus to have a department head sit there and watch me submit it, and basically force her to give me credit. I am a mother of 2 with a husband who travels for work constantly. We work hard for what we have, and to be denied what financial assistance should be our for no reason is unacceptable, and to allow professors to abuse their power with no repercussions is irresponsible.
I received my degree only to find out that it was a fake. It is not accredited by the state so it is worthless. Employers do not recognize it. I asked if they could help me in obtaining a first-time degree without work experience and Strayer said yes and it would lead to a job. They lied to me and then threatened me. Now I am contacting legal agencies in state and fed govt in order to bring justice. How can I pay a $36K loan oon $10 an hour on a part time job????? And Strayer told me I could do better..................What a scam they are!
Strayer initially seemed like a great place to gain an education but that soon changed. There recruiters are so interested in enrolling students that they forget to express requirements to receive employer discount. I attended for almost 2 years with receiving my discount because they require a verification every quarter but no one seems to explain this. After realizing the issue, I was advised I would receive all my income if I sent in verification. I sent in my pay stubs going back 2 years to learn that they would only retro pay me for 12 months. Then they changed there policies for financial aid and didn't advise students of all changes because they said only a small percentage of student were affected. Strayer in my opinion are money hungry and care more about making a $1 than the real needs of its students.
I was looking for a nontraditional school that worked with my schedule. Strayer has good and bad but the substance is the same as when i did traditional schooling. After both my degrees BA now Masters i feel just as prepared as every person i have interacted worth in my field of work I lived abroad prior starting back college and didn't know too much of the negative things floating around. I hear a lot about for profit vs not...things associated with money...to the customer service ...each student will have their own experience. For myself..customer service was good any questions i ask always got answered. Maybe location is instrumental. Not for profit vs profit is a huge debate ...in regards in where and how funds come in..and what is recording in the books as what. Teachers are just like every other teachers..some of good some sub par some excellent. Bottom line do I feel I was given the resources and obtained the knowledge needed to be successful in my career industry and the answer is yes. There will always be negativity but you have to figure what you are seeking and if it fits your life. I will be working on my doctoral next ...of course not at Strayer (no doctoral programs) and i am one in few who statistically go for an advance degree from Strayer but there are a few of us around. Good luck to whatever you choose ...yes you who is reading...pray on it or whatever is your thing...and rock it....
Stay away from it. Success coach knows less than you do, and never return your calls. Teachers can barely speak English, and will teach you nothing that is related to the class. The mostly important classes for your degree are only offered online, what's the point then? Oh if regret could kill someone, i would have been dead by now!!
Strayer University the worst school you could attend. They are not at all considerate with international students and their requirements. All they care about is money and that's it. They will try to get you into a program and make false promises and give you incorrect information.Once you are enrolled they will change everything around. Since I joined the school they have cut down on staff and I have seen people not staying their for long. I bet they deal poorly with the staff as they do with the students which can only explain the high turnover rate at the university. The student advisor I was assigned never gets back to me. They keep assigning me to different people because I assume they keep laying off employees or employees leave themselves. Classes are not up to the standard of a graduate program and I feel like I pay all this money for nothing. I basically have to sit by myself and read and understand. I would not recommend any one local or international to join this school. When you see the name Strayer run as far as you can.
All these positive reviews are phony. The staff puts this up to make a difference. This school is horrible the professors are nasty and rude. The elevators always getting stuck. Emails snd phone call never get returned.Dont go here stay away. The staff does not care about your future just there check.
