"I transferred to SUNY Albany in my second semester of my Junior Year. I knew I wanted to become a Psychologist since I was in third grade. I took any Psychology electives offered at my prior Community College to confirm my aspiration ( total of 36 credits). It was great that these credits transferred to SUNY Albany, but I soon found I was very behind in the process to be considered in a Doctoral program. I needed at least one year as a research assistant in one of the six Psychology Doctoral programs offered, which were: Social, Clinical, Neuroscience, Behavioral, Cognitive, and Developmental Psychology. I had no idea which field I would want to spend the next five to six years doing, in the matter of the three semesters I had left to graduate. I took advantage of any office hours with professors, studied hard, and utilized the resources the campus provided. Within the three semesters I was at SUNY Albany, I was chosen to be a research assistant in a Clinical Psychology research lab, presented a research study at the Undergraduate Research Conference, and graduated with honors and a job lined up. What I learned was that I did not want to become a Psychologist, but a Social Worker. I now work as a domestic violence and sexual assault Victims Advocate helping make a social change in society to end domestic violence and sexual abuse. Two days ago I was officially accepted into SUNY Albany's School of Social Welfare to pursue a Masters Degree in Social Work so I can further learn and grow to fulfill my purpose; to help people. SUNY Albany changed my life, coming in as a transfer student was extremely overwhelming, but the Professors, resources, support, guidance, mentorship, and opportunities SUNY Albany offers is outstanding. Now not only do I get live my aspirations, I get to be apart of the social change because of hard work, and SUNY Albany."

"I loved my time at SUNY New Paltz. The administration was helpful, though a bit of persistence was required when it came to applying my transfer credits from another school. Otherwise, I always felt safe on campus and am going back for my Masters Degree with enthusiasm to be back!"

"Most of the professors are research based professors. Ask them if you can shadow or volunteer in their labs. This gets you ahead of the curve when it comes to lab experience and a resume bonus. This is a great school for those who want to pursue a business degree. I made the best out of it while pursing my Biology degree because I would participate in all my classes. you should do the same"

"My time in undergrad was fantastic. I got an excellent education from professors who truly care about their students. I met many great lifelong friends there and take any opportunity I can to promote the school to others currently debating on where they should attend. Fantastic education."

"The University at Albany has a rigorous Biology Department. Although it is rigorous, it is well worth it in the long run. The professors expect 150 percent out of every student and it is his/hers responsibility to keep up on the work. Like most colleges, some professors are better than others and therefore it is important to be able to adapt. Due to the volume of students at this school there are endless opportunities to get involved with the students and community."

"Because it is directly associated with the State Department of Health, UAlbany SPH is a pretty solid choice for students looking for an MPH. The only downside is the somewhat irregular class schedules that tend to change year to year. The school seems to be aware of this from student feedback and is trying to improve any issues. The school is also not as involved in local advocacy as it could be."

"University of Albany offered a specialized program for those in the social work masters program. I was in the IAP program which offered me great opportunity in field experience, education and the opportunity to receive a stipend as an intern. made my college experience both enjoyable and affordable"

"Great program for both traditional students and professionals alike. The demographic of the program is young professionals, under 30, but there are some working professionals who are returning for a graduate degree and offer great perspective and experience. Only downside is some of the PhD candidates that teach from time to time are rough around the edges, but administration was very open when a groups of us expressed our concerns. The course improved with the help of a tenured faculty member and the class finished without a problem. Classes are generally evenings. Location is great. Parking is easy."

"SUNY at Albany is a great New York public institution. They have a vary of majors for students to choose from. They have hundreds of student groups and organizations for students to get involved it, social or academic related. The diversity of the school is only getting better, from more minority students to more services for LGBTQ or disable students. I would only say for Psychology majors, since there's so many of them, there isn't much guidance for them picking class wise or planning what's next after bachelors."

"SUNY at Albany had provided me with an incredible experience. As a student of the business school, I have been challenged, rewarded, and presented with opportunitues that are hard to come by. The involvement and networking opportunites have been endless. I've not met a professor or career advisory who wouldn't help with whatever I've needed. Because of them I will be leaving the school with a bachelor's degree, a masters degree in 2017, as well as a full time job starting in fall of 2017. SUNY at Albany is a great choice to become a successful graduate!"

"I loved Albany. It gave me a great education. Such a diverse campus so there's always a group that shares your interests. Good location if you live downstate. Didn't mind the weather at all."

"I feel the program needs more organization. I also believe the program needs to be better staffed, unfortunately some concentrations do not get as much attention and effort as others because of the lack of staff in certain areas as opposed to others."

"SUNY at Albany is a large state university with many excellent academic programs. One of the most renowned schools in the SUNY system, Albany is at the top of the list for many high school students applying to universities in New York. SUNY Albany has rich academic programs, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The business and education programs were particularly well regarded when I attended the university. While most students attending Albany at the time came from New York state, there was a sizeable out-of-state student population as well as many foreign students attending the university. A couple of my instructors and TAs were also from other countries. SUNY Albany has many student organizations, clubs and athletics teams to match the broad range of interests of the school's diverse student body. I was on the track & field and cross country teams during my time at Albany, and participating in intercollegiate athletics was a valuable part of my university experience. Albany is a competitive school in Division 1 sports. The university has had many successful sports teams over the years, including track & field, cross country, lacrosse and basketball. Both men's and women's basketball teams have made it into the NCAA basketball tournament in recent years. Many friends I made at Albany were also very active in various clubs, sports and organizations at the university, including the crew team, aikido club, football and rugby teams, chess club and fraternities and sororities. Party in the Park was a popular annual event that many students enjoyed when I attended Albany. The fountain on the uptown campus is a popular hang-out for many students between classes, particularly in warmer weather."

"School feels even larger than it is, and not necessarily in a good way. Allows for a good breadth of classes, but only in specific departments. Regardless, it's easy to feel lost in the larger classes. Also has significant cultural issues."

"Some pros of my graduate program are interesting coursework, excellent professors, and wonderful laboratory facilities. Some cons of my graduate program are it is difficult for masters students to become a T.A., financial aid department is difficult to work with, and must be an independent student."
