"The staff of the business office and financial aid office quoted me the wrong price for months for a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. In January of 2023, I was calling both of the offices for two weeks in order to get the correct price for said master’s degree. None of the staff were working together and they gave me the run-around because no one knew the correct price. I asked multiple times to NOT be transferred because it was either; they didn’t know the price, they didn’t know who to talk to, or the person that they transferred me to never answered because they were on “lunch.” Initially, the aid was said to be approx. $12,000-$13,000 for the entire program, but turns out, it was approximately $12,000 per semester. Fees were excessive and unnecessary. Aside from this, it is an overall great program for the two semesters I attended."

"My professors at TAMIU were great and were very open to students asking them and visiting their offices for advice, questions, or just to talk. The university itself has a great atmosphere, with animals roaming the school grounds. Plenty of space to study, lots of events that occur during the year. The college is also growing and expanding it's facilities every year."

"It's a good school but I wish there were more job openings for my field. If you go for comm disorders plan to go to grad school because you will not find a job with just your bachelor's. The school overall is good. Teachers are good and you do learn."

"This program gives you a background of the Spanish Literature represented by the professor from different countries such as Mexico, South America, and Spain. All the professor help to strive for more and achieve your academic goals. Nevertheless, TAMIU offers a lot of personal and professional opportunities to reach your goals."

"The University is a beautiful campus that has many degree options. It is situated in South Texas on the U.S./Mexico Border. The majority of people living in this town are Mexican Americans and there is not much diversity outside of the University. TAMIU was named top 20 schools for "most bang for your buck". It has relatively low tuition rates; additionally, the quality of education is grand. A quality education is not based on the price tag associated with your degree; rather, it is associated with the passion and dedication of the student and the professors."

"Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), is a great school. I looked into several schools when considering working toward my Masters Degree. TAMIU offers an affordable and high quality education right in my home town. Compared to another university out of town, TAMIU is close to ten thousand dollars cheaper. Saving major bucks here! The school is ranked one of the top schools in the United States with the highest Hispanic enrollment. Mostly all of Laredo is Hispanic, but the city is growing rapidly and so is the school. So although we are not currently culturally diverse, we are definitely headed that way. The location of the university is great. The school is surrounded acres of green land that is home to wild deer, hogs, raccoons, and skunks. Its a great view when studying on the fourth floor of the library. The school offers several locations to study, and tons of computers to finish homework or print out assignments. Need a bite to eat? The school has several locations including subway and chickfila , especially a nice Starbucks right next to the library! Perfect for those long hours of studying for midterms and finals in library. The school counseling program offered at this institution goes above my expectations. The professors put a lot of effort into making sure the students understand the skills that will be needed in our future careers. The school of counseling program is very hands on which makes the learning so much fun! This school, this semester had definitely been a life changer!"

"I learned a lot during the course of my student career. My professors were more than helpful when I was confused, and I found that it was insightful to take all the courses needed for my English degree. I enjoyed my time with my classmates as well, and some of us have become life-long friends. The degree program was challenging, but no one in Texas A&M gives up on you. It is a great experience."

"TAMIU offers a select number of graduate programs which encourage students to pursue a higher degree of learning. Unfortunately, the program that I am currently pursing is lacking courses that cater to a particular areas of interest in the biological sciences. However, due the relative small size of the university there are numerous opportunities to participate in research. I am currently performing research analyzing the effects of antimicrobials in the environment. I believe this is essential because it gives us the experience needed when pursuing scientific careers."

"I very much appreciate the friendly atmosphere around all of campus. Though, the undergraduates like to keep their own culture impenetrable. The large faculty body is top notch and eager to collaborate. I find it a good balance between the severe stress of an Ivy League and a quality education."

"The Counseling Psychology program is enriching in the sense that students learn how to be of service to the members of the community; it is a wonderful program in which students are trained to become therapists, and hence be able to help people with problems such as substance abuse, psychological disorders, social difficulties encoutered, among other aspects of life. This program also provides the tools for students to deal woth people across all situations, whether in the private sector, non-profit organizations, hospitals, schools and businesses. The professors from this program at Texas A & M International University are experts in the field of counseling, and have been able to pass on their knowledge along to the students enrolled in the program. Along with all the positive characteristics of being part of this institution, it has been hard for students to have acces for financial assistance. One schlarship/assistanship is offered to students across master's programs, but unfortunately may prove insufficient to cover all the expenses that students must deal with when enrolled in graduate school. Being an International Student that has been part of the community for over eight years (since undergraduate degree) does not help in the availability of funds. This can prove discouraging, given that as part of the counseling program, one volunteers in different non-profit organizations whose goals are those of serving people in need. Aside from the financial difficulties encountered as a graduate student enrolled at Texas A & M International University, I must admit that the education and enthusiasm of the professors and classmates make the program a wonderful choice for those wanting to give back to the community and be of service to others."
