"A gold mine, as long as you utilize all your resources, network, and invest in interns. Don't be afraid to be the odd one out."

"The Social Work program at Union University prepares students for a career in Social Work through a generalist practice approach. Students learn theories and skills to equip them for a myriad of roles in the field of social work. In the first 2 years of the program, students learn how to evaluate societal systems, think through personal biases and prejudice, and serve clients through basic social work theories. In the last 2 years of the program, students learn practical skills such as program evaluation, personal interviewing, mental illness recognition and assessment, and well as development of treatment plans. The last semester of the program is a full-time practicum under the supervision of a Licensed Master of Social Work. The student completes a senior project highlighting that the student is capable of practicing in the community what was learned in the classroom. The program is comprehensive, the faculty is accessible to students and knowledgable in the field."

"Union was and is a great university. The class sizes are small so you get a one on one experience from the professors. There are numerous opportunities and the staff truly gets to know you and help you further your career."

"This school is very overpriced and overrated. Don't fall for the hype! Majority of the professors are racist (including the dean of the Nursing Program) I recommend this school university for any student who is white and has money to blow! Every semester our tuition increased without any warning! I graduated the Nursing program with 40+k in debt!"

"Union is a school committed to excellence in academics and character. The majority of the professors have terminal degrees and are highly respected in their fields. Student life opportunities are endless and create a close knit and energetic community. It's an excellent place to prepare for life, both professionally and personally."

"I graduated from Union's Accelerated BSN program at the Germantown, TN campus. We had some wonderful clinical and lecture instructors that were very knowledgeable. Our clinical instructors definitely kicked us into gear from the beginning of the program. Although, the program itself was rigorous, they needed to do a better job of streamling some their processes to give ALL students a fair experience. For example, the way we signed up for "preferred" clinical times was that someone would post a piece of paper on the wall for each clinical day/time/location and basically let us run and climb over each other to sign up. When the pages were posted, usually just a couple people in the class were notified and of course, those students would sign up and tell their friends prior to informing anyone else. In the end, we were all well prepared to pass NCLEX, the actual experience was just a little rough around the edges."

"I like my program and my professors are awesome! Im not crazy about the area, however that is a personal preference. I do not feel as safe in Jackson as I feel back home. That is mainly because I lived back home for far longer than I have lived in Jackson."

"The graduate program in which I'm enrolled is a new program. One of the most positive consequences of the new program is the teacher to student ratio. Most of my classes only have 8-15 students per teacher. A downside to the newness of the program is that the curriculum kinks are still being worked out, and there is no flexibility in when I take certain courses."

"My graduate program student/professor ratio is profound, allowing the profession and students to build rapport, which is also essential in the field of social work. Despite of my program is fairly new to the university, I believe it to be one of the programs. They take pride in being a christian based institution and promote others to imply core christian values, as well as values implied by the institution and the NASW Code of Ethics. My MSW program is also accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The only con I would have to say is the city in which the institution is located is rural and small, but in becoming more urbanized rather quickly."

"Union University's MSW program is a new program with high-quality professors. However, due to it still being in the development stage, some classes are modified in the middle of the term, making flexibility crucial."
