"Pros: Have rotations to find the best lab to do PhD work. Take minimal coursework to really focus on thesis research. Cons: During Rotations, funding was a major issue in selection."

"The faculty members are highly collaborative and very supportive of their students as well as all students in the program. We have access to excellent resources and the research being conducted here is cutting-edge. While this area of California is very expensive, the financial aid packages provided by UC Davis help tremendously to make living in Davis, California possible."

"UC Davis is pretty good. The staff and students are very helpful and friendly. And there's tons of services to help you succeed, but make sure to put in the work and ask for help. Some major and minors suffer from the typical UC issue of not having enough classes available."

"Pros: Generally supportive staff. The environment is not so cutthroat as it is at other universities. Cons: Large workloads in the first year. Many social activities involve drinking in some way."

"College was a great experience for me. I learned more about myself as a person but also my academic interests. It is important to take advantages of the many opportunities each college has to offer. I worked in a research lab which helped me get exposure to the research world and learn more about my areas of interest in the science field. My experience in the research lab helped me after graduating and will forever change my future."

"Davis was an amazing place to spend 4 years. The people are friendly, the faculty is helpful and knowledgable and you will come away with some tremendous experiences. There aren't too many places that allow you to go to class one day, Tahoe to ski the next day, and San Francisco whenever you feel like it."

"I loved the experience of going to college, meeting people, and learning how to be an adult. I found that having a clear goal in mind for what I wanted to accomplish was very important to my experience, and that friends who did not have that inner motivation sometimes struggled during and after. Don't go to college to "discover yourself", there are cheeper and better ways to do that."

"It was a wonderful college in a small town, with options of intimate classes at higher levels as well as large general education classes."

"Great college. Dont be put off by the seemingly isolated appearance of the campus. You will grow to like the University and the surrounding community more than you would expect!"

"Wonderful college town, great school and great campus. I would recommend taking advantage of the study abroad program too, it's much more robust than the other UC's. There is a beautifully budding craft beer scene in the town with a great bottle shop in downtown, and a few beer bars. The philosophy program is amazing, especially at the higher levels, the teachers are old and well published, or young and eager, and the classroom setting is small and open to some great exploration and discussion. Obviously, not a super useful major, but it prepared me well for law school."

"I really enjoyed going to UC Davis. It is a great university in a small town, but it has a great downtown, fabulous Farmers market, and is in a great location near to the bay but also near to the mountains."

"UC Davis is a big, diverse school set in a safe and cozy town close to the large capitol city, Sacramento. There are plenty of opportunities and choices for involvement, for entertainment and for educational/professional/life aids. They offer plenty of choices for a major to make sure you can find what fits you best. Take advantage of all the help and advice and social connections UC Davis offers, because when you're busy, you're less likely to feel homesick."

"I loved the atmosphere. Beautiful campus. Very friendly and helpful staff, and many different staff members I could go to for help whenever necessary. I have now been a student at three different universities (including another UC School), and UC Davis had by far the most helpful staff and the easiest system to navigate. I also enjoyed being able to choose from a huge variety of majors, as well as customise my own. Adding a minor or multiple degrees was easy as well."
