"Overall, UCLA offers its graduate students a lot: huge research opportunities, great facilities, and intellectually impressive and approachable faculty. The cons are that it is expensive to live in Los Angeles (particularly in Westwood, where UCLA is actually located), and that many students are extremely focused on their own research to the point that their social lives suffer."

"The program and required classes vary by area, but are generally very applicable and taught very well. The requirements for research and related progress throughout the program are more important and rigorous than coursework."

"The Econ program is extremely good and demanding, and I am very satisfied with all that I have learned so far, as well as with the smart and motivated people I have met. On the weak side, the department can be a bit disorganized and appears to be dealing with some financial problems."
