"UCR is the perfect school for growth. Starting freshmen year they reach out to students in order to plan all 4 years of school and build up your resume. This school offers tons of workshops and career networking events to meet with employers and gain internships. Many schools do not prepare students to gain experience as soon as possible, but UCR does. They make it possible for students to obtain jobs prior to graduation. UCR also has the best free student concerts given year round in the state of California. At UCR there is always something to do whether it's getting free chic Fila or ice cream there are over 200 clubs and fraternities on our campus with the opportunity to create even more. Companies such as Disney, Emma's, Target, and walmart year round come to our centrally located campus to recruit our students. All the leg work is up to the student to present themselves and get invited to an interview for jobs and internships."

  • Degree: Fine Arts
"My program was very helpful for those who wanted to follow a Fine Arts path or photography. We had a strong photography department and professors are helpful when you ask them for assistance. During my time there, I met many friends with similar interests and were able to make an impact on one another. The community I built with my peers and my professors allowed me to grow which helped me enter one of the best graduate programs for Graphic Design. Although UCR did not have many digital classes, the relationship I built with the people there help me grow, be more confident, and be more driven. With all of that, I believe it played a role in my acceptance to CalArts. Although my professors at the time did not have much knowledge in graphic design or digital illustration, they pushed me to continue on pursuing what I wanted. They provided me input as well as the freedom to do projects the way I wanted to approach them, even if they weren't the traditional method the class was designed to be taught. I had the freedom to create digital works for a traditional drawing classes, and my peers and professors gave me the same effort in time and critique as they did for others."

"Bioengineering is unlike any other within the field of engineering. In truth, the field itself is still young and in development and this is easily demonstrated within the program at UCR. In order to best make use of your degree and opportunities on campus you must not just coast through class, but actively engage and uncover all of the subtleties of this broad field. You have to ask yourself how you best see yourself working in the field after school and this is best done within the first year of the program. Career fairs on campus and industry contacts within the school are lacking for the field of bioengineering so it is best that the student actively seeks out this information for himself or herself. Instruction is heavy and demanding which will lead to postgraduate frustrations of career opportunities unless the student reaches out. Overall I enjoyed my time in the courses and the instruction I received and it has equipped me to work in the field and move into other related areas."

  • Degree: Economics
"This college has greatly improved since I attended in 2005-2010. From my experience, the professors, especially in Econ, had really thick accents. However, I've had really great professors for a lot of my Humanities courses. I recently revisited the campus and I must say it looks really nice with all the new remodeling they've done to the place. Another thing is that the housing is fairly cheap so that's definitely a plus!"

  • Degree: History
"Studying for my History Degree at UC-Riverside was a wonderful experience. The professors and lecturers were very knowledgeable in their areas of history. I was able to study vast periods of history from Ancient Roman all the way to the Modern Era. I was able to study abroad at UC-Rome and finish my degree in Rome, Italy to study Italian History from Ancient Rome and the History of the Catholic Church. The opportunity and education I received at UC Riverside has re-ignited me to pursue a Teaching Degree and relay what I learn to students who want to study History as well."

  • Degree: Economics
"The old adage is true - your college experience is what you make of it. However, I found it difficult to find what I needed to make my economics program what I needed at UCR. There were a couple of courses and professors that were an exception to this general experience, but overall I found it difficult to craft a program that was challenging and engaging. The required readings for my classes also seemed below par, as I found out that many basic economics texts were ignored by the curriculum."

"UC Riverside has met and exceeded my expectations of what a graduate program should be. The professors are extremely dedicated to their students success including them in their research projects and encouraging publication from the start. Courses are rigorous, rewarding, and are tailored to suit each individual students research interests. The faculty in UC Riverside's Anthropology program is professional, but also maintains the feeling of a family, with all students and faculty looking out for one another, encouraging one another, and pushing their colleagues to be the best that they can be in academics and as people."

"UC Riverside has many resources available to students. Resources include a tutoring center, financial aid office, counseling, and diverse student organizations. There is a place for everyone , whether it be in an academic club, a cultural club, joining a sports team, or by networking with classmates, there is certainly a place you can connect with that will help you grow. Professors and teaching assistants are easily accessible and want to help you succeed. I'll never forget my time as a student at the University of California, Riverside."

"UC Riverside's grad program in Anthropology has more than exceeded my expectations. Faculty is helpful, lots of research potential, and supportive graduate student environment. Staff is extremely helpful as well, feels like a huge family! As they say in Lilo and Stitch: Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind! That's UC Riverside's Anthropology program. Everyone wants you to succeed. Even when you don't believe you can do it, THEY believe in you, and provide motivation, support, and the tools you need to pursue your career."

"The Teaching credential program was good. I finished and achieved what I set out to achieve. I was one of the top students in my program. I was well prepared to become an effective highly qualified educator. I was also given the opportunity to complete my Masters degree and teaching credential at the same time. Not to mention working as a paid intern was a great incentive."

"One of the best things about this school is the student diversity. This is by far one of the most diverse UC campuses. There are plenty of student organizations to be a part of. Overall, the professors are very nice and approachable. The environment is very supportive yet the classes are still rigorous and you definitely need to put in the work. The pre-med students are not cut-throat like on some other campuses."

"University of California Riverside provides a diverse campus of different organizations, sports, and academics. The university allows for a student to develop themselves in all aspects and implements multiple opportunities to explore different horizons beyond their major. UCR gives numerous different resources to help enable students to succeed throughout their years at the university. As a liberal studies major, I felt the variety of classes made available to me gave me a well rounded education to prepare me for the CSET. I personally utilized the campus computer labs and free printing, the libraries, and the laptops available for checkout. After a year at this school, I am still learning about more resources I can utilize in the future. Aside from my academics, I have also divulged in tennis and hip hop recreation and joined CKI, a club on campus. It contributed to my student life as more than just academic classes. Being at UCR benefited me, as a student, because of the countless opportunities and resources offered."

"I had an overall amazing experience at UCR. Everyone was friendly and open to different types of people and opinions. The diversity of the campus is what made the difference when visiting other universities. Although engineering was difficult, the professors were always helpful and willing to see you after class and in office hours."

"UCR was a great school, undervalued in the UC system. The English department and professors were great and the libraries available for help. I was not at school for the social experience, which is what many complain UCR lacks. But, for academics it is a good, strong choice."

"UCR is a great school. It is a bit overcrowded so be prepared to fight for the classes you need, as well as parking. But overall it is a good school, the professors are extremely knowledgeable and so are the TAs. This is a big research school, so if you are looking into doing research this is a good place to go!"

"It's a Very small school compared to UCLA but it's not bad just a few really bad faculty members that ruined the experience for me. They had some good student activities that created a good atmosphere but I lived off campus so I was not as involved as I could have been. The dining area was sort of limited but it could have improved since then."

"When making a decision about what university I was going to attend, I knew right away that UCR was for me. I live in Riverside so it made sense to go there! I had amazing professors who truly cared about me as a student, but as well as person. I received plenty of support from my teachers and I feel like I left UCR being better person because of the knowledge that I acquired at this school. I would recommend UCR to any student who wants a school that is diverse and that it has a very 'at home" feeling."
