"UCSB was a great school. The mechanical engineering teachers were very knowledgeable and a good handful had experience in industry. They brought theory and application together topped with experience. There are a variety of classes to choose from where you can try out different subjects or focus on a specific area. Beautiful campus and a challenging but layers back environment."

"I truly loved my experience at the University, but I do not feel like it qualified me for a career. I wish that there would have been more opportunities while I was in school to learn about careers and which paths that I could take. I think college is a great idea as long as you really know what you want to do and that degree will help you get there."

"UCSB is has many professors who love what they teach. Lectures rooms are big but are broken down into sections with TAs who have 20 students. Access card is required to go into most building so overall a safe campus. There are handfuls of resources provided to help a student succeed, for example (Student resource building, CLAS, career center, job fairs etc.)"

"Overall, I think it is a good school academically, especially the accounting/business economics program. It is also nice that it is on the beach, so many of the dorms have beach views. A lot of the student apartments are right on the beach as well. It is convenient that Isla Vista, the college town, is right next door to the college, so you can just bike to get to class. The one bad thing is the party atmosphere, which is still out of control, and the reputation it brings with it to your degree."

"The Global Studies program at UCSB was a pioneer in implementing an interdisciplinary approach to studying the effects of globalization. By utilizing the various departments at UCSB such as Economics, Psychology, International Relations, Politics, Law, Religion, and others the degree program is poised to include a diverse amount of content, thus exciting a multitude of ideas and interdepartmental discussions."

"UCSB was a good choice for me because I wanted to go to a large school, and because I was able to balance fun with schoolwork. While the social life is incredibly stimulating, and the landscape is unbeatable, the academics are also very good, particularly the hard sciences. Since I have been out of school for about 6 years now, the major complaint that I have about UCSB is the lack of academic guidance. With credits from high school, I was able to earn a BA in Global Studies without taking a single math or science class. While I was happy about this at the time, I now have less flexibility in grad school and career choices because I do not have the prerequisites. Nobody at UCSB ever guided me or recommended that I take a science course, in case I wanted to enter the healthcare field, for example. I have many friends from UCSB who spent time after graduation in community college classes to get pre-req's. Overall, I had a wonderful experience at UCSB and have dozens of lasting friendships that I cherish from that time in my life. I choose to graduate in 3 years because the social scene can be exhausting if you are at all introverted, and because the cost to attend was high."

"UCSB was diverse, very accepting, and also very engaging for all students regardless of interests. Many resources were offered for personal health, professional development, educational support, and social support. I participated in a group therapy session on campus, received couples counseling from PhD students, and participated as a research assistant. I was only there for two years and very much enjoyed the beautiful campus so close to the water, and the readily available, free public transportation."

"It really is an amazing place and will be remembered as a very special time of your life that you Will miss :) Just make sure to balance studying with the partying, and you'll do great. Graduates from here learn social skills from all the evening socializing that serve them their entire life and complete the solid academic part of your education."

"It was a pretty good school. It did, though, seem that the majority of my professors were more interested in their research than they were in teaching their respective courses, which sometimes made the coursework more difficult. That being said, I was lucky enough to have some absolutely amazing professors that made my time there much more enjoyable."

"For a big name school, it's on the small side which I liked. Everyone uses their bike which is cool. Isla Vista is a super cool college town. If you're not a party-er, don't go here. Classes aren't overly impacted/crowded and you've got a pretty good chance of getting into the ones you want"
