"University of Detroit Mercy is an excellent choice for undergraduate education. I attended McCauley school of Nursing, and I feel that I received a superior education. I feel that the program more than adequately prepared me to practice as a registered nurse. I was guided through each semester of my program by well prepared and accessible academic advisors, and was even able to graduate one semester ahead of time by attending through the summer. The academic standard is very high. The class sizes are very small, allowing personal and professional support and development. All professors and clinical instructors were well prepared, knowledgable, and easily accessible. I would choose University of Detroit Mercy again for my undergraduate nursing education."

"College is an experience, although the focus is learning, you can obtain so much more, friends, business relationships, new found hobbies. Embrace the whole experience."

"Difficult yet completely worth it. I would not be able to obtain my current position without my current education, and I would not have made the lifelong friendships that I did without college."

"Overall, I highly enjoyed my experience at the University of Detroit Mercy. The small class sizes allow for you to create a better relationship with your classmates and professors. Having professors know your name helps keep you accountable as a student (make sure you attend class) and allow you to interact with them more outside of class."

"University of Detroit Mercy is one of the few unique private colleges where you actually get to meet and know your professors. The rigorous curriculum in Biology at University of Detroit Mercy has prepared me to further expand my learning and knowledge in the field that will be useful in my future endeavors in the health care field."

"I love how the University of Detroit Mercy is a smaller campus. This allows for smaller class sizes and the ability to get to and from class fairly quickly. The smaller class sizes allow for more one on one attention, so your not just being lectured to but instead you are interacting with the professor and classmates to help you learn. Most of the professors want you to succeed and will help you reach your goals if you ask for their help. I am glad I choose the University of Detroit Mercy to receive my higher education."

"The traditional nursing program was very challenging. They combined your prerequisites into the required nursing courses which made for a heavy workload each semester, but I was still thankful. Some of my friends at other universities were stuck taking prerequisites before they could even get into the nursing program. Very expensive but we'll worth it l, especially if you can get a scholarship."

"I have chosen the University of Detroit Mercy to further my education because that is where I received my baccalaureate degree and my foundation for nursing. I admired the quality of education during my undergraduate course work, as well as the incorporation of service to the community. I desire more of that as I move forward in my nursing career. I won't be in the graduate nursing program until the fall but I obtained my bachelors of science in nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). UDM is a private catholic university on the west side of Detroit, Michigan, who not only prides themselves on high quality education of their students, but on community involvement from their students to the surrounding community of the university. UDM vision statement says “The University of Detroit Mercy will be recognized as a premier private university in the Great Lakes region, distinguished by graduates who lead and serve in their communities”. In fact, to ensure that each student serves their community in some capacity, UDM has implemented a required service commitment component into to all of their programs, making it a requirement for graduation. Due to this requirement, I have learned that is very significant to give back to the community."

"I like the Masters Degree program in Financial Economics the best out of all the programs in the state of Michigan. It gives me a hands on approach to the subject that I can apply right after graduation."

"Pros: I feel like I am getting a good quality education. Much of the staff is concerned with my success. The network of students and staff is close and always helpful, this adds positivity when school work gets overwhelming. Cons: The workload is overwhelming at times, and I feel like there is often unnessecary busy work. Some of the professors, while very intelligent, are not the best at teaching material, this adds to the stress of schoolwork."

"The pros of the graduate program for me involves my relationship that I have with my professors. The graduate program at the University of Detroit Mercy allows graduate students the time to arrive for class, receive and engage in weekly lectures or assignments. The program also allows students to engage in different field experience opportunities to become more knowledgeable and aware of the education field. The workload involves activities to, discussions, and participation in things that prepare and gives new ideas for the education/teacher work-field."

"Relatively small class years (~150 students per year) provide an intimate learning environment and great student to faculty ratios. The school is furnished with top of the line equipment. This allows the students to practice dentistry to the best of their ability."

"Being in the City of Detroit, UDM Law naturally has it's pros and cons. Many people are aware of the stigma that comes with being Detroit and I would say that most of it is true, some of it is false. Anything can happen anywhere, but the school program so far makes up for it. The staff, professors, students bend backwards to help and the smaller classes give more individualized attention. You are actually able to engage fully in the topics and discussions making learning not only easier but more enjoyable."

"The faculty and alumni are fantastic they are available. Also the networking opportunities are abundant. The faculty student ratio is great because the classes are small and the faculty has time to meet with you after class or during office hours. The classes are on par with the Master's program preparing you for working in the field and not all the work is in the classroom you have field project also. I am glad I selected University of Detroit Mercy to continue my education."

"A definite pro of our program allows you to work in our many law firms in the fields that you are considering working in so that each student is practice ready upon graduating. Our school also offers many classes that help prepare students for taking the BAR. I cannot think of any cons."

"The UDM Counseling & Addiction Studies Dept is exceptional because the curriculum, faculty, and overall environment will truly prepare you to become an effective and ethical practitioner. The curriculum is CACREP accredited. The instructors are not only experts in the field, but they genuinely care and go above and beyond the call of duty. The student body is very diverse and the class interaction is most interesting. The only drawback is the added expense of attending a private institution. I would love it if the tuition rates were more comparable to public universities."

"University of Detroit Mercy is a private Jesuit school located in the heart of Detroit, MI. The tuition in comparison to other schools in the areas, such as Wayne State and Oakland, is extremely expensive which makes it very difficult for one to complete their degree. UDM's tuition is roughly $4,000 for 3 credit hours compared to Wayne State which is roughly $1,250 for three credit hours. That's less than half the amount. I must however say, the professors are very dedicated for their modest pay and will put in the time to answer your questions and assist you. I began my masters degree at UDM and I've contemplated switching schools to lower my cost, however, it is very difficult to find schools who honors the same curriculum that UDM has. This scholarship will definitely help me to pay my tuition and assist me in completing my degree. Thanks!"
