"I am in the Higher Education Administration program through the KU School of Education. Overall, this is a very strong program located in a wonderful city. Lawrence, KS and the surrounding area (including nearby Kansas City, MO) is a great place to live and have fun. The professors are all very knowledgeable and several have experiences as both faculty members and administrators. This program is well renowned and has an impressive array of graduates. A few downsides - this is a cohort program, where you will be taking classes with the same 30-40 students for your entire career. While this creates wonderful friendships, the cohorts can become very segmented based on assistance-ships. Overall, I've greatly enjoyed my time at KU and look forward to the opportunities that will present themselves once I have graduated."

"It was a good experience. The music education program is a hidden jewel. The Scholarship Hall community and other smaller communities are fantastic and a great way to feel like you are at a small college while still being at a large college."

"The Museum Studies Program at KU is wonderful because students are able to build their own degree. There are different specializations within the program, and students are encouraged to take courses within and without the program that they feel will best aid them in their education."

"The social psychology at KU prepares its students with the foundation of classic and contemporary psychological theories. Faculty encourages conducting research early in our graduate career to help us become strong researcher and also to prepare us for the competitive climate of academic careers in the market. The faculty encourages fulfilling our research interests and collaborating not only with other students and faculty within the program but also encourage inter-disciplinary work. I'm learning from a group of professors who have diverse expertise and have added informative work to the field of psychology; it is such a great to gain my academic training as doctorate student! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!"

"My university was an above average state school located in a great midwest college town. The campus life and sports programming offered was incredible. Dependent on your major, KU offers very strong degree options. The study abroad program is one of the best in the nation."

"KU has a beautiful campus and Lawrence is a wonderful college town. The campus is big, yet both getting to class and going out for the night is still convenient. I was fortunate to have some extremely wonderful and passionate professors. The gym is clean and well managed, the food options on campus are vast, and the campus is a treat to walk through. There is always something going on and new people to meet or a place to find solitude. Not to mention basketball! There is something magical about getting to be a part of that student section. Rock Chalk!"

"The first year that I was in college, I wasn't very involved. I went home every weekend, and only studied the bare minimum. I felt as though I wasn't getting much out of it. The subsequent years, I participated a lot more in the university experience. I joined clubs relating to my major, worked on research, became friends with my study groups, and participated more fully in class. I enjoyed those years a lot more, and gained a lot of confidence in my field of study. If you're planning on going to college, I heavily advise you to become as involved in your field as possible. This will not only make your college experience more rewarding now, but will better prepare you for your future."

"The University of Kansas is an all-around great school. It has lots of history that draws people, great sports, a beautiful campus, and lots of accolades. I went to their business school, and it's one of the better business schools in the area. I feel like I got a great education because what I learned in school helped me find a job and get an accounting certification."

"KU's Museum Studies program is selective, but the small number of students means that the quality of education and accessibility of faculty are relatively unparalleled at schools of this size. It's quite pricey for non-residents, though, and that's why I'm applying for this scholarship."

"The Physical Therapy program is a competitive, nationally-ranked program with wonderful faculty and great resources for its students. The curriculum is focused heavily on a well-rounded education, to include clinical experience starting in the first year, to prepare students in the best possible way for their careers. There are many on-campus resources and being right next to an outstanding hospital is a plus. The area is not the best, but it is not too far away from great shopping and neighborhoods. KUMC is a great option, especially for Kansas residents, as it is relatively affordable. While the class size is a little larger than average, professors work hard to insure that you are not "lost in the crowd" and really get a hands-on, personal education."

"The best part of the KU MPA program by far is the incredible network that you become plugged into. Upon being accepted into the program, I was flooded by emails of public professionals who welcomed me into the program and offered me support. While it is a big workload, the classes are engaging and discussion based, engaging students to apply broad topics into the practice of management. I would strongly recommend this program for anybody interested in public service and making a positive difference in society through their education."

"While many of my professors and classes were great, the arts department was under-funded, and the university had serious issues with discrimination and institutionalized oppression. They are addressing this now, but it largely altered my experience."
