"The program prepared me well for industry, but there were only a handful of tracks within engineering and it would have been nice to have opportunities in other areas of engineering. The campus was small enough to have more individual interaction with teachers, but not too small either."

"UMBC was an excellent school where I was challenged every day. It taught me the importance of education and how important it is to be educated. UMBC was a very diverse place that had so many different types of students from different types of life. I started my undergrad career at UMBC after leaving community college."

"College is an experience all should have the opportunity to receive. Higher education will only take you farther in life and offers more options. My college was a good school, but a person needs to choose what is right for them and what most meets their needs."

"The Shady Grove campus is small, but has new buildings with large classrooms. They offer free parking which is unlike a majority of colleges. The teachers are hands on and want to see you succeed. They are constantly offering job and internship opportunities for their students."

"I attended UMBC as a transfer student having previously attended a local community college. My experience upon my transfer was nothing short of fantastic from the moment I stepped on campus. I felt welcomed right away and was excited to get my educational career rolling. I met so many new, interesting, and driven people which was a wonderful atmosphere to be a part of. After two years, I graduated with a degree that I was excited about, but thought I could set myself up for even more success if I continued my education. I loved it there so much that I am actually now attending Graduate School at UMBC. I am loving every minute and cannot wait to put the skills and knowledge that I had acquired through UMBC to use in my future career."

"UMBC is located just outside of Baltimore, so it provides great opportunities to work in a city setting for clinical experiences, in addition to the more suburban setting of the school itself. The professors are invested in the success of their students. Living in the city is expensive, so I choose to live in the county to save money. Additionally, the program could improve by becoming more integrated with the school. I feel a little disconnected from the school at large, so I started advising undergraduate students in class scheduling and options for transfer students. Overall, I feel that my graduate program is worth the cost, both financial and time. I'm very happy that I came to UMBC!"

"While I did not end up pursuing a career in the arts, my degree has prepared me incredibly well for my future jobs. I am currently in graduate school preparing to become a teacher for grades K-3, and I feel that my degree equipped me with an aresnal of tools that have helped me become an engaging and active teacher. I am also getting certified to be a Child Life Specialist and my Acting degree is incredibly useful in helping children cope with hospitalization, as it helps me empathize with the children, but also helps me provide an escape for the children through guided imagery, which is a skill I learned in school. I was also required to take courses in other fields, which provided a foundation of learning which set me up for success in the future."

"It's a hard-science-friendly school. If you are in the liberal arts, I would look into a different school. Also, not the best school for graduate studies. Again, more emphasis is put on for undergraduate studies."

"UMBC was nothing short of a wonderfully challenging and rewarding experience. I transferred to UMBC from a small community college seeing as though I was not sure of exactly which content area I wanted to pursue a degree in. After transferring in 2011, I decided on Psychology - a field in which there are many avenues to build a career or further your education. Over the next two years until I graduated, I worked with many different professors and each one was more helpful than the next. The teachers truly do want you, as a student, to succeed and do well. I found this out very early on when I took on an extremely difficult load of classes in my very first semester. As time went on, I learned to work efficiently because of the tips I had been taught over the years. This ultimately lead to my success and eventually my desire to go back to school and pursue a Master's degree. UMBC is a wonderful institution and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is passionate about learning in an environment that is filled with teachers passionate about their students' success."

The academics are rigorous, research projects are compelling, and opportunities for clinical and community experience are numerous. I consider myself fortunate to be here."

"The school itself was good. The dean is the absolute best you could hope for! But the program I was in was under staffed and needs more professors and a better variety of courses. Most of the professors were really good but two, out of a total of five, were very poor at teaching."

"UMBC has a strong history program and great teachers. Though the program does not require an internship, you should look for one since it will augment your strengths once you graduate. Overall, I enjoyed my time at UMBC and gained a solid education and now work within the field of history doing what I love."

"UMBC is a very good school to attend if you are looking for a program within the math and sciences. Its academic rigor and competitiveness will prepare you to get in gear for the real world. Nestled in a small town of Catonsville, it is minutes away from downtown Baltimore and skips away from our nation's capital."
