"I really enjoyed studying at the University of Northern Colorado, because I always had a lot of contact with my Professors. They always made time to speak to me, and not just during their office hours. It was difficult studying as a non traditional student, because often times I didn't have a whole lot of time because of my work, my Professors made the effort in emailing me if I had any questions."

"Biology department is great. The faculty and staff are all excellent a what they do and work very hard to ensure that students succeed. There is a wide range of classes to choose from and all of the classes that I have taken were well taught and very useful."

"I loved my time at UNC. There are many opportunities available for students who are willing to seek them out. Since it is such a big school, personal effort is required to take advantage of resources such as the career center, writing center, and many more. The downside to a large school is this is not built into the curriculum like it is at some smaller schools. The upside is the range of availability. I participated in a semester at the Highlands Biological Station through the Institute for the Environment, which was an incredible hands on experience. The skills I obtained there have helped me many times over in my career and in graduate school."

"I think that the University of Northern Colorado is a great option for anyone who is looking to go to school in a diverse, medium-sized environment. The class sizes are generally no larger than 30 in the Human Services classes, which allows you to build a relationship with your professor. The program doesn't make you choose one of the three concentrations (public health, gerontology, and rehabilitation) so it allows you to explore all three different areas in human services. I personally loved that there were people from a variety of national origins and cultural backgrounds in the program. If you're interested in pursuing a bachelors in human services I highly recommend UNCO."

"Great Biology department. Try to help you in getting your degree with minimal loans by offering teaching assistant positions and even paid summer work on your own research."

"I truly enjoyed my experience at University of Northern Colorado. I learned so much, created life long friendships, and made unforgettable memories. Many of my friendships were made my freshman year in the dorms. It was a great atmosphere. I also felt very prepared for my career in education."

"The pros of the graduate program are the professors are very knowledgeable of the content and are always relating the lessons to real life. I appreciate the professors not always having students take tests rather turn in papers on how we apply our knowledge. The con of the program is the research class that is required is taught on a general exercise science basis that is not helpful to the management students."

"I enjoyed it very much. Great school and small enough that you can create good relationships with your teachers but big enough that there's always enough to do and go out and have fun."

"I am an extended studies student, so my experience has been different than most at UNC. I do feel that a con is in support. I have often felt all alone in the program in terms of faculty and/or administration. There also is a lack of social support. A pro is the quality of education. I have really respected and learned a lot from my professors and their knowledge and experience has been a value teaching device."

"I am a student in the Extended Studies program pursing a graduate degree in Elementary Education. I attend a satellite campus (meaning it is offered in a different location then the main campus) which has altered my experience. As part of the program, I move through the coursework in a cohort. I have really enjoyed the cohort aspect of this program because I have created valuable friendships and connections with students who are going through the same coursework. As a graduate student I have found it to be very difficult to be eligible for Financial Aid which has made paying for this high cost program difficult. I have worked full-time throughout the program thus far and maintained a 4.0. I will say that working full-time and earning a graduate degree is not highly recommended. The program itself has been very engaging and interesting which has helped me power through the long weeks of school and work. Since it is offered on the weekends my social life has been null; however as a one year Master's program the light is very visible at the end of the tunnel! I would highly recommend this one year Master of Arts in Teaching program to anyone with the dream to become an educator who has a busy life and commitments that cannot be dropped for a typical graduate program."

"Pros- The cohort program is set up so that you'll get much support as a first year graduate student, and then by fall of your second year, you will be independently making clinical based decisions for the most part. Prepares you very well for being an Speech-language pathologist Cons- There is a lot of work and paper work within the program. Also, there is a current shortage of professors so they are very busy."

"Faculty with a wide breadth of knowledge. Small classes mostly conducted seminar style to allow graduate students to learn from one another and build context within their worlds."

"University of Northern Colorado is a surprisingly very fulfilling experience. Students in my program are extremely knowledgable and the faculty is very well respected in the field as well. The affordability for value is exceptional, and cost of living is fantastic. I recommend UNC for higher education."
