"The MS in HCDE program at UW was both delightful to be a part of and immensely helpful to prepare me for my chosen career path as a user experience researcher. As far as masters programs go, this one has a good balance of both theoretical foundations and practical, hands-on work that can prepare you for life in the field. UW and HCDE also have notable connections in the tech industry including Microsoft and Amazon among many others, to help with internships and jobs after graduation. It's a flexible degree program that you can mold into what you need, whether you're more design-focused, more research-focused, a hybrid, or something else, and accepts students from a wide array of bachelors backgrounds including psychology, design, computer science and others. The professors are top-notch, and the university itself is high quality with a beautiful campus."

"Overall, the UW is a great school with great resources. You will find anything there. But it is also a huge campus and can be hard to find your way. Get involved - clubs, sports, tutoring - anything to get some grounding and a support network. Try lots of things until you find what suits you. Often after you're matriculated, you'll have a better grounding and see more familiar faces. Explore the resources that are available. All the libraries offer something unique. Tap into the other students and go to office hours. The professors are there to help you. They're passionate, knowledgeable and dedicated. And often times no one else goes to their office hours. If you can, live on campus. A lot of students commute and you miss some of the culture. Go to football games. They're a great way to integrate into the school. Go Huskies!"

"This program is Environmental Horticulture, and primarily is a restoration program, not a more traditional horticulture program. The program generally and specific classes are interesting and relevant, the faculty are dedicated to student success, very well networked, and there are many opportunities to branch out and tailor your education to your needs. Since it is a professional program, many students are not funded and Seattle is a fairly expensive city to live in. Overall, this is a very worthwhile program if you are interested in restoration or plant cultivation."

"Human Centered Design and Engineering is an inter-disciplinary program. I love that my classmates all come from different backgrounds. I know people that are good at programming, others who studied photography and design, and another friend of mine studied architecture. I come from a psychology background. It's to work with a diverse group of people and learn from each other. Full time students take evening classes twice a week, 4 hours per class and in most classes you work amongst your team. I wish there was an opportunity to work with other classmates more often. You start to just stick with your own group. I see some people outside of class at social events but it would be nice to form connections in other ways during class time as well. Meeting once a week is not enough."

"The graduate schools greatest asset is the faculty. As a student it isn't everyday that you have instructors who genuinely care about your success. The faculty want your success professionally and academically and will sacrifice there personal time to see to that success."

"The pros of my program are the quality of the guest speakers that come in who are working at the forefronts of their fields. The one con that is specific to me is that I live very far away from campus."

"Seattle is a healthcare epicenter and is thus a perfect area for this kind of program. The faculty are seasoned and well versed in health care matters and are thus great sources of knowledge in the area."

"I took UW classes through a partnership on the surrounding Island of Bainbridge. The class size was small and allowed time for quality discussions. Because of the small class sizes, I built a sense of community with my peers which enhanced learning greatly. The cost of living in Washington was much higher than my previous residence but the surrounding wilderness areas were a great tradeoff. There are so many opportunities for recreational activities on the mountains that surround Washington. The final con is diversity, I wish there were more people of color in the program to add to discussions of diversity."

"The school is located in the city, therefore students have many amenities and options for social life. The program places great emphasis on peer learning. Cons are that it is a very competitive school and the workload is tough, but prepares you for the real world."

"I believe my graduate program offers a highly competitive environment, a highly qualified staff, and easily available resources. That being said, there is little available financial aid for my department, and there seems to be a fair amount of crime on/near campus."

"Our school has not that many financial support options, so if your advisor cannot afford a TA/RA you have to pay tuition and look for your own funding."

"The university is very good with student from all over the world. The faculty is very knowledgeble and and I can feel that I have entered into a good college. When it comes to security, I do see lots of news on safety issues through email newsletter and that is why I have rated it less. Also for the financial aid, there are very very less opportunities for international students."

"The Prosthetics and Orthotics program at the University of Washington is fantastic. The instructors are completely committed to ensuring that the students walk out with the best education possible. They are well known within the field and encourage the students to make connection. The course load may be heavy and difficult at times, but in the end, students know that it is all in an effort to fully prepare them for clinical practice. Students walk away from the piles of homework with a sense of accomplishment and confidence, eager to build and brace limbs for their courageous and strong-spirited patients."
